  • Another day in the woods with the dog and a few axes. Started off by clearing up some of yesterday's leftover mess and then followed up with some axe work. Felling yet another undesirable Aspen. Today's pair of axes were an Elwell 4lb Welsh Pattern and a 4.5lb elwell yankee pattern. Both on 31" handles.
    Thanks for watching!

That 'american' elwell cuts well. I had mine stolen and will buy another one soon. I think yours cuts better than that GBone you tried.? One thing i will say you do need to keep that axe 90° to your body. I know you can cut well, but sometimes that axe is heading for your legs. And because you cut well , it might just go through on you. Enjoyed watching. Keep it up.!

Yankee pattern is just what they're called over here. Same as a Dayton basically! Definitely much nicer to use than the Gransfors American felling axe. I ended up getting rid of that. Thanks!

8:30 Oh be careful there, I'm sure your comfortable with the axe but all it takes is one slip and a big chunk of your leg is gone.
