What incredible organisation and scheduling is required to pay so many thousands of individuals in cash, right into their very hands. In the 1970's, we who worked in a large psychiatric hospital were paid in cash every second thursday afternoon. It was a semi-social affair, and happened around afternoon tea time, which allowed the few hundred staff to check their pay slips and count the cash. A very pleasant era in which to be a worker.
Brilliant footage , Britain at its best , the work was there all you had to do was go and get it .
Great video 👍🇬🇧
worked there for mid 70's North works, west works, east works and cotton Hackett. 28 years service loved everyday

Interesting comparison with the 1928 Morris film. Everyone here is wearing overalls or aprons, some are wearing masks.
Much more advanced production too
