Hi, I normally choose the selector for the top and bottom heating rods with convection when baking cakes and bread.

Hi, preheating an oven refers to turning on the oven to a specific temperature prior to baking. In the case of this oven, we turn on the empty oven at least 15 minutes prior to baking.
