I know exactly what Naomi means when she says the Virgin Island Water smells like nail polish. I have encountered this before I can verify it's not because she's already smelled other fragrances. There's something in certain fragrances that gives off that very "chemical" smelling top note and frankly I tend to find it in very cheap fragrances so I'm not sure why a Creed would give off that smell.
I can detect synthetic aromachemicals most of the time too. Not always, but very often. The top lime note always seemed synthetic to me and off-putting, and limonene is on the label which may explain that. And that effect lends itself to what you're describing for me as well. People can smell things in drastically different ways; VIW is not at all natural smelling to me, but nor are any Creeds. And VIW is likely my fave in the bunch (once it passes the opening), not a fan of freshies at all, so that's a problem with Creed for me. Cheers.

BUT here's something interesting I discovered about it- when I had the Corona, it was the only fragrance I could still fully smell (ironically.) By the fireplace, came in second. Versace oud noir and lalique en noir retained some scent but smelled completely different and so did my dior sausage imposter. Couldn't smell Bvglari man extreme or any other of the Bvglari I have. Just wanted to share with you.

SMW lasts a long time on me. I do have a 2016 version though. I can’t speak on newer iterations of SMW. One of my favorites from Creed. If you enjoy SMW then you need to try Mefisto Gentiluomo by Xerjoff. Just as good and better blended. I prefer SMW dry down more and the opening and mid to Mefisto Gentiluomo.

Green Irish Tweed is a masterpiece
The opening is 20% of the fragrance, by not letting her smell the dry down, she's only commenting on that 20% of the fragrance. Not good.
