  • From a documentary called "Girls Bite Back" directed by Wolfgang Budd in 1980. Interview with the Slits and others (Girlschool?). Partial performances of "Animal Space", "Grapevine", and "Man Next Door". Love to see the whole performance video. Is there a bootleg audio cd of this? Who's the sax player?

Thanks for posting this, really interesting and great live footage. I saw them play at the Rainbow with Don Cherry - he played an absolutely brilliant set in support and jammed with them on their encores. They were SUCH a good band when they had Bruce Smith on drums and that massive bass sound.

Thanks for discovering this great doc! I'm already downloading it from the torrent.
The slits are great and talented musicians, their music is pretty unique, with that rich mix of dub-rocksteady-funk-punkrock-pop that nobody else has ever done so well.
I missed them just for a few days on my last trip to glasgow, I'm wishing to see them live!

Thanks for posting this - really interesting and great performance footage. I saw one of their "rumoured" performances with Don Cherry - at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park in the late 70's or very early '80s. He played an absolutely brilliant set in support, I believe with Lou Reed's backing band, and jammed with the Slits on their encore. One of the best gigs I've been to - they were SUCH a good band when they had Bruce Smith on drums and that huge bass sound...
