Kinda wish they did give you secret locations that you could find. I would love to explore a ruin city with the buildings somewhat intact, like TLOU.

this area may be empty but that mini forest area before the final location of the proving is gorgeous at night. also a rare moment of no machines so you get to listen to the OST just running around.

Weird... did you just get zapped back to your original bonfire... from that cave near the end?

The game does that if you leave the playing area. Takes you back to your last save point.

By the gate you can climb wall...I will see if I got game still and repost...👍

@@hardwingosia I mean on top of a mountain there is a small path there I can climb over 1 bit of mountain but to get to the past part is difficult without the game loading your save

It's an area I guess they left for people to find and explore (not that that is part of the game plot). There is a cave here with a pair of socks in it which go into the special items in your inventory. Not sure what they are for though.
At least you can get to here in the PS game. There are other areas, like the naming cliff that are there, but you are are blocked from going to.

How is this in any way Secret you can get there without much effort there's no reward there no Quest there nothing special that shows up on the map what's so secret about it? Maybe I'm missing something

At the time going into proving grounds was cool that's all. The fun of exploration beyond obvious path...no harm there
