Well done! I've checked up the playlist you've written. Excuse me, I should've done that. It's all good, I've pinned your comment. Thank you very much, Silvio.
Members of the band from the left to the right: Marla Dixon trumpet, Max Bien-Kahn guitar, Michael Magro clarinet, Tyler Thomson guitar, Tomas Majcheski sax., Robin Rapuzzi drums, Craig Flory bass sax., John Dixon banjo, Matt Bell slide guitar, Julie Schexnayder bass.
My sainted father, may he RIP, was a lifelong trad jazz aficionado and third generation NY Yankees fan. He'd have loved this. Thanks for making me smile on this rainy Northern Virginia day as I long for Louisiana.
Put a lap steel guitar and a bass sax together in a band that plays great old time hot jazz and some Hawaiian tunes and I suddenly become very happy and also very grateful because it doesn't happen everyday. These guys are great.
You are right Kenneth, This band is fantastic, lovely real New Orleans style playing, non of the 'Racetrack' music, you know the kind, 'Look Mum, I can play faster than anyone else)..this music reflects the good old time dance music of the George Lewis Days,Jim Robinson, Chester Zardis and co. Great to hear and see. Thank you guys and gals.
I had never seen this video. Seeing all these talented musicians brings a little joy in this sad existence we are living right now (2022, May). Special mention for Isle of Capri.
I attended the Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Festival only once. That was n 1980. This wonderful band takes me back to that fun experience. Kudos to the sound engineer!
Must respectfully disagree with the two viewers who expected more from the video production. The camera work was excellent, in my opinion. Non-invasive and captured the feel of the Albita Springs event in such a way that the festival is now on my bucket list. I live in Utah and will be planning my next RV road trip around a week or so in Albita Springs and N.O., La. (and GOTTA hit the Spotted Cat!) I'm retired from the film and video production business. People become accustomed to seeing one-hundred-thousand-dollar-per-minute production values (about average for a typical network TV show). My guess is that much of the production work on this piece was done as a labor of love, and with a very tight budget. And, BTW, the sound is brilliant! I've watched this video several times, and will likely watch it many more in years to come. Thanks so much to Alice Glick and the production crew, and please post many more.
A great constellation of stars. We agree with you, the camera work and sound is excellent, however a single camera can at times deliver a smoother picture, following the music, enhancing the music. We hope you are still with us, Mr DW Williams and may still enjoy this. Great to see the children dance. Best to you, Chris& Chris
Kocham Was za ten program . Jesteście moimi ulubionymi muzykami. Słucham Was niemal codziennie i cieszę się że mogę Was słyszeć i oglądać w każdej chwili.
Michael Magro has offered us yet more genius and passion for traditional jazz. It is likely that he called and assembled this ensemble just for this occasion .. probably with little rehearsal, at least as the full unit. They are THAT good, and his selections bring their brilliant talent to the fore. Seems like several of our favorite bands are off-spring of Loose Marbles ... talk about insight, mentoring and generosity ! What's more, Michael and Ben Polcer are still at it ! Thank you again, Alice Glick and Albita Springs.
What a pleasure to hear that there are still drummers who can play that style with verve and conviction! And I haven't heard such a bass saxist since the days of Adrian Rollini.
One of my favorite moments in this video is at about 18:25. The little girls are bored between numbers, and are about to sit on the edge of the stage. When the band suddenly starts, its like a lightning bolt of energy catapults them back to dancing up a storm. Great video! Great music!
I'm surprised & delighted at all the great jazz bands In N O. This band is really very tight unit , lovely sound & timing. The bass sax adds to the whole show,. Thank you Alice you are right on the money with Loose Marbles
Seams that all these groups put out great music when they play at Abita Springs, hope all of it finds its way to you tube for all of us fans to enjoy. Great job Alice.
We can see the root of Tuba Skinny from this band, most of TS member if not all was rooted in Loose Marble, you can feel the soul of the music, flowing thru both band.
Hi, Alice. It´s a very god job you have done, bringing this music out in the world. Here en Denmark vi used to play at lot of New Orleans Jazz doing the 70s and 80s. Good to focus on the tradition. Hans-Christian Vinther.
Marla Dixon is great, Shaye Cohn too (listening in the background), and all other members have become established and very well known by now, but somehow, ... , when Michael Magro is there the whole experience acquires an extra dimension !!! (apart from the fact that the band itself then resumes its primordial name, the "Loose Marbles"). A Big Thanks to all the guys/girls for playing this nice music (the old time jazz) we all love so much. Love to all.
I'm mostly into acoustic string bands, bluegrass, old time, early blues etc. But this band is a wonderful mix of traditional older jazz and acoustic string instruments..;just wonderful!!
Its nice to see just how nice Mat Bell enjoys in the first Island song. On the other side Tomasz, the sax man, always has that smile when Craig Flory plays, comparable only to the smile PW Russel had whenever Coleman Hawkins played a solo. They all know full well they made a wonderful record - thats why they are glad. Great, Great, Great Michael Magro.

Thank you for some wonderful music.

GIGANTESQUE !!!! J'adore. Merci beaucoup au groupe, à sa polyvalence et aux réalisateurs....
Thank Julie Shexnayder for her bass and magic smile!
What a fantastic group! All the musicians are great. So good to see and hear Matt. Great selection of tunes.

No words to describe such a beautiful and amazing band! OMG! Thanks for this delight !

What a great group of musicians and such a different sound with the bass sax and steel lap . Loved it!
I´m so in love with Julie🥰!
No extravagant lighting , no huge sets..... just good talent .
Give me this any day 😀😀😀😀 Just would have loved to have been there.
Marla Dixon super-sensual from 26:48 to 27:27 and from 28:53 to 29:40. What a beautiful music. Thank you!!!
Great work of the driving string bass !
Love the base saxophone

... interesting to hear Robin on a trap set instead of washboard, --but then, --he IS a percussionist extraordinaire :) 20:47 & 34:48
t5o7m And that looks like Max Bien Kahn back there in the blue shirt playing the guitar and the bass saxophone player looks almost like Craig Flory
@@robertwmarwin2018 Well, skip the "almost", because he actually is Craig Flory.
Bravo pour avoir rassemblé tant de talents pour ce grand plaisir !
Fine music by great musicians. Thanks.
What an amazing performance, and what a great job on the video and audio!
What a pleasure to hear that there are still drummers who can play that style with verve and conviction! And I haven't heard such a bass saxist since the days of Adrian Rollini.
Robin Rapuzzi
Thank you - If George Lewis and Bunk Johnson were still around They would love this
The lady vocalist is wonderful.
Marla Dixon

Always self effacing, never absorbing the limelight yet he deserves most of it ; thank you Michael Magro.
smytyweiss 1, ironically, he is the one I see least, watching the current New Orleans scene.
One of my top favorite jazz groups. Love that laptop steel guitar! and sax! Feeling! Yes! Richard Lee Van Der Voort AKA "Old Dog"

And their mentor who has often sit in w/ TS - Michael Magro .... he also had Marla Dixon in Loose Marbles before she and John started Shotgun.
