I like the Wii U myself. It has some great games, an awesome Virtual Console, and backwards compatibility with the Wii! It was very well worth it for me
The thing is, it is an amazing console, although, the only reason to get a Wii U is for the game pad, it isn’t worth the extra money if you already own a wii

@@MintBerryCrunchPower well let me tell you is 2023 there is no point on buying a Wii U and here is why almost all the good Wii U games are already on switch and mii verse is closed and If want to play twilight princess or wind waker I’ll suggest you to buy a GameCube or a Wii instead since alot of GameCube and Wii games are not on the switch

Nintendo did the Wii U dirty it had great games and a great controller, they just didn’t know how to sell it

I think a very big reason you didnt mention is Nintendo taking down like every youtube video with any Nintendo games in them. They were actively discouraging people trying to tell about their games they love
This never happened. I am almost always looking Nintendo RUclipsrs while eating etc. since I was in high school. I always had new videos to watch.
@@dimitripatronas2409 Don't gaslight them. It certainly happened for a long time. People complained about it so much, they launched the "Nintendo Ambassador" program so that influencers could be allowed to talk about their games and still make money (I think it was 60% or something insane like that. I know it wasn't 100%). And if you weren't, they'd claim the video and take all of the revenue.
@dimitripatronas2409 this definitely happened, for a pretty long time there wasn't any videos of smash 4, or Mario kart 7 because they'd get flagged and copyrighted if the creator was either too big, or too small.

The Wii U felt more alive and less lonely than the original Wii.
Then we got the switch literally the most lonely console ever since 1 no music and 2 contacts to talk to and 3 payable online with a crappy app selection like where is Disney plus and Netflix like r u serious

I 100% disagree. Playing Wii sports with others using the controller as a baseball 😂, or putting the Mario cart racing wheel on your controller to race, are far more alive than anything any other consoles could have. It's just no competition; the Wii was the goat.

One feature that I liked but didn't use enough was that some games were also 3DS compatible and can be played on the Wii u with the 3DS; like super smash bros. That feature with both of those systems had a lot of potential

I LOVE the wii U games. Mario maker, wind waker hd, Skylanders trapteam..
That not counting that you can play wii games (pokepark is my personal favorite)
Traptean also came out on wii so more like skylanders racing one thing splatoon the GOOD mario maker version

Wii U was really an unfortunate console. Lots of mistakes and marketing blunders turned this into a very underrated and underappreciated console.

Those mario maker commercials were tight though ngl.
Wii U is a perfect example of how much more creative older things were, they packed a lot more features thanks to that. Having the second screen, TV remote, stylus and all that in your controller is amazing to me to this day.
So a DSi just a DSi
And it could never be used for anything other than an inventory screen.
It failed at what it was meant to be, a controller for a game console.
Since it was just a controller it couldnt even do the screen gimmicks DS did.
None of that is creative, just took things from other consoles and put it into one

@@kirjovithere was no new Zelda until the Switch came out, no pokemon,no Metroid, the Kirby game was not good, 1 mario party game that was meh at best, abysmal 3rd party support, I can go on and on. Everyone knows the games were very lackluster, except you apparently 💀
If u were over the age of 13 and already had an original Wii or another console chanced are you wouldn’t have bought it. Fortunately I was only 5 when it came out and didn’t own an original Wii so I ended up getting a Wii U for Christmas 2014 when I was only 7.

Infact I'd argue Xbox and Ps fanbase has more kids than Nintendo does since Nintendo has been around for so long and there's a lot of fans that stayed
Pro tip: make this top comment so everyone sees it, and buy a bunch of wii u’s because they’re cheap since they did bad, then when everyone does this the wii u price goes up and now if you bought wii u’s early you have a bunch of wii u’s to hit people on the head with and rob their other Nintendo consoles. Super Mario Maker was not immediately ported to the 3DS. Nor was Yoshi's Wooly World, the only other game that was ported to the 3DS.
SMM: September 2015 for Wii U and December 2016 for 3DS
YWW: June2015 for Wii U and January 2017 for 3DS
(January in Japan, February in the rest of the world)
Fun fact: on the launch day of Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World on Nintendo 3DS, the Wii U version got an update which added compatibility with the Poochy amiibo.

I Got a Wii U back in 2016, a whole year before it was discontinued and the The Nintendo Switch Came out!
The Wii U's PowerPC chip was interesting to me, Nintendo has been using IBM PowerPC CPUs since 2001. Something interesting about the Wii (and maybe the Wii U) is that you can run Mac OS 9 on it with minimal emulation

The Wii U (for me) is the best console Nintendo has made all of the online communities and getting to know people on Miiverse was the best, the music was the best, the games may not have been what you hoped for but they’re still pretty good and it created franchises such as Splatoon and Mario Maker and the compatibility to play the original Wii as well.

I’m 12 and used to have a Wii U. It broke due to a memory issue. After years of failure, I finally managed to emulate Wii U games on my PC. My favorite game right now is Super Smash Bros, specifically the Wii U version.
Very surreal to think some Switch games sold better than the Wii U.

@snes981 no it's not it barely got sales for a very good reason while the WiiU was very poorly advertised it probably could've pulled a lot more sales the Virtual boy was too expensive and all its games were only in red in black also it only had 20 games and everyone got headaches from it

I became a Nintendo fan in 2015 at the age of 8. I saw the Wii U and thought it was really cool. My dad was like “why don’t you get a PlayStation” and I said cause it can’t play Mario on it. Christmas that same year I got the MK8 Bundle with its dlc and NSMBU. One of my favorite Christmas’ of all time

The Wii U had amazing games. Pikmin 3, super Mario maker, Super Mario 3D world, and you can play them in the switch! Pikmin 3 deluxe, super Mario maker 2. Super Mario 3D world and bowser’s fury, you name it!

Here’s the biggest problem with the Wii U for me:
As cool as I think it would be, the Eshop is closed, and most of the games I’m interested in on it are on consoles I already own and I’ve already played the games.
Wii backwards compatibility? Sure, but I already own a wii.
Windwaker? My Wii is the backwards compatible version.
Splatoon 1? They’re shutting down the online servers soon and either way, I’m pretty sure the majority of its players play on splatoon 3.
Basically all of it’s Nintendo IP games?
They’re pretty much all on the switch in some way or another.
I miss playing Tomodachi Life because I don’t have a new Nintendo 3DS Xl anymore it’s broken
In hindsight I think the Wii U was an amazing console. If Nintendo had just advertised it properly it would have sold probably around 40-60 million units comfortably
I don't care at all about third party compatibility. I loved the Wii U, and at the time, it was my biggest Christmas present *ever.* It was unheard of in my family to get anything for Christmas over, like, $200. I got the Wii U/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle, complete with a DLC code, and Super Mario Maker. I had so much fun with that Wii U, and it also had some great virtual console titles as well. The Xbox One and PS4 never lived up to the Wii U for me, especially considering how the best non-Nintendo console, the Xbox 360, was one that I already had and had played a lot beforehand.
And then they put 'U' after the games and were like "YA GUYS IT'S NEW IT'S NEW GIVE US MONEYY"
My favorite games for WiiU (which is my second favorite console) are Smash 4, Super Mario Bros U, Super Mario Maker and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (The fact that I like Amiibo Festival makes it a little strange for me and maybe for others too)

Im 13 and i want to buy a wii u, my grandma said i should bring my xbox 360 everytime i go to her house. But since xbox 360 is large and heavy, im thinking of buying a wii u. I don't like wii and i don't even know why.

I personally went from the Wii to the PS4 myself. Because of it I got to experience games I otherwise wouldn’t have on Nintendo consoles at the time. Persona 5, the South Park games, street fighter V, and a higher frame rate too. It worked out in the end because now all the best Wii U titles have either been ported to the switch or have sequels that replace them.
I used to have a Wii U years ago, before I got my finger hurt by putting a Nintendo Wii U disc in, and my mom had to sell it, because she didn’t want me hurting my finger on it again. I miss the Wii U😢😭😭😭. I wish my mom wouldn’t sell it if I hadn’t hurt my finger in the past.

The wiiu was way better then the xbox and ps4 . On the wiiu we have miiverse which was a twitter like social media with alot of funny posts 😂, and we have wiiu chat , splatoon , black ops 2 , web browser , loads of free games etc..... and also we could hide our wiius under the bed sheets when your not allowed to play on a school night. Xbox and ps4 couldnt come close to the wiiu!!!!!!
I love the wii u its just bad on storage and for 300 dollars at my local op shop NO WAY but the games are amazing i am tryna save to buy one or maybe get a 3ds.

I think the dumbest feature they did and made mandatory was the fact that you NEEDED to use the gamepad and it's controls along with it. Made me not even consider buying it even after all these years but I got me a Wii though 😂

The Wii U was my only choice for a console upgrade because I didn't really like any Xbox or Playstation titles
I was 7 and a huge Nintendo fan when the Wii U came out, so of course that’s what I got. But I got a ps4 in 2019 and in retrospect, that’s what I would have gotten that Gen if I was older and could only pick one
I feel like the Wii U could have been saved easily with a few tweaks. If Nintendo had just put some effort into making it able to render Wii games in HD, I bet a lot of people would have bought it for this feature alone.

This was a real story so my school every holiday season would do a little Christmas store we’re you can get things for love ones or your self if you can pretend you’re giving it to someone else so I saw a box for a Star Wars Disney infinity box for the Wii U(it was 2019 so the Wii U wasn’t that relevant anymore)so I got it thinking it would have a Wii U inside and I got disiponted because it didn’t have a Wii U but I got a switch that day so it was all fine and dandy

The wii u to me in some ways is more of a W then a L 1 it can charge in 2 different ways unlike the switch from the bottom 2 it came with 2 different kick stands 1 chargeable and 1 none charge 3 some of the games like for example the classic games whatever you bought it's in there forever and not until your online runs out and 4 that console actually did had better apps like Netflix n such and even had it's own social media platform that allows us to talk to friends thx to the switch most likely most if not all our friends r just waste of space in there no offense since we can't even message them anyway like what's the point of a friend list/code thing if we can't do nothing with it sure we have the app but that is completely useless I'm sorry
