Michelle i see the paste is mixed by using part A of Resin and Mica, so my question is will it affect the ratio of the clear Resin ( A/B ) that i will be using hope that makes sense lol
Not at all, that’s what the bought ones are as well, a tiny amount won’t throw off your ratios. That’s why I made a little something with it to show it’s just fine,
I was going to ask that some question obviously it worked out but what if you wanted to be using more of the pigment paste or once you put the color in …Does that change the composition… Actually, no matter what we use there’s a limit for colorant versus resin so I kind of answered my own question there, huh lol😂
Good video and just a little tip. I would store the mix in a blacked out container, not a clear one. I had an epoxy once that came in half gallons of part A and B. I poured them into squeezable containers that were clear. So I could work with them easier. Usually part A is the epoxy and part B is the hardener. From sitting in the clear bottles over time, my part B the hardener turned yellow from being exposed to lights. Maybe even take the clear containers and put into a brown paper bag or something.
Thank you very very much for giving the quantities of everything. This is the 3 or 4th video on this subject I've watched and you're the first to do that. Most say just mix it by sight (which i get, to a point) but i like to know the correct way to do things first. Also most of their seemed so thin. Nothing like the paste you made which is very similar to the density of the pigment paste I've bought in the past. So again, thank you for sharing this video. I REALLY appreciate it.
I can only use uv resin begin of not having space for objects to sit around for curing time. So this pigment paste technique reminds me of how I get my powder to mix easier in my uv resin. Whatever amount of resin I’m going to use, I only put a small amount in with mica powder first. Then after it’s blended smooth I add the rest of the resin for mixing. Just using a cooking trick for not having lumps in gravy from flour or gravy mixes. Thanks for showing this, I’ve always wondered what the heck pigment paste was. Oh! And I love the idea for the paint containers to storage containers. One of those “ why didn’t I think of that?” moments.
Went to the 5 quarter store and couldn’t find the jars, I DID, however find small jars full of glitter. Thought of you, lol. I bought all the different colors, emptied into separate bags and washed them out. So now I have 6 jars to make pigment paste. As soon as I can move. I’m removing the carpet from the house and have been working on the stairs. Somehow I pulled my back. Which means, I’m watching all your old videos today, lol.
I have resin paste in my Amazon cart as we speak! Now, my question may be showing my lack of experience! Oh well, I’m not very experienced! Anyway, I take it that regular paste is made with Part A. Otherwise, why doesn’t this throw off your ratios when you mix your resin? Did I word that right? I have no idea if that’s a dumb question, so all of you stop laughing! 😅 Thank you, Michelle.
Not a dumb question at all. You can probably use part b instead to make it as well, I don’t see why not. You aren’t throwing off your ratio with such a tiny amount on your stick. Also a lot of that on your stick is also the color.
Thank you so much for this ,I love when you ladies take the time to show us theses things . Cost is a big issue for most of these days. Many thanks ❤️❤️❤️
This was such a helpful tutorial, thank you so much. I avoid pigment pastes due to the cost, so I am really looking forward to making some. Thanks also, for taking the time to test it out. Much appreciated x
I would love to know what is the difference between just adding some mica powered and using a paste to color your resin ? thank you for your tutorial, I appreciate it a lot! Take care !
Wow really enjoyed this tutorial thanks a million for sharing this will definitely be making my own paste now have loads of mica will be on missing list for next couple hrs making paste and its all your fault Michelle 😅😂🤗🤗🤗
❤ that color is so beautiful.... My husband and I just got started on this craft... Just learning. We love both you and your husband's videos 💗. Haven't tried epoxy yet... But we are mingling with UV resin
I LOVE learning new things and this was just what I needed. I have bth colorful mica powder’s and resin I can’t use because it was left over so tomorrow, after I take a break from redoing my stairs I’m going to make a bunch of colors. I love paste but we’re so limited and they’re so expensive. Thanks again for the heads up!❤ while I’m thanking you thanks for the reminder that those little jars are at the dollar store. Which happens to be down the street from me, lol.
I have an old ceramic plate that I use to mix pigment paste. Michelle, have you done any videos showing how to mix and use Titanium Dioxide (pigment and colorant)
Thanks for Yr instructional video. I had my resin part A left as part B was over and was wondering what I cud do. Saw yr video n m gonna try it with white n black
Well I'm glad I saw this video because I had read online that it was part B and was going to make some this weekend using B. I'm wondering if it really matters so now my curiosity is going to get the best of me 😂 You have proof right here that A works! Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video! I was looking at all of the links you add to your videos and I am lost when it comes to the different resins. What does table top do? Or polyurethane? When to use which kind?? I just normally use one kind and uv resin as well. I'd be so thankful if you could sum that up for me since you are so knowledgeable!? Yes, you can tell Mr Glitz I said that😂😂❤
OOOOOH this is sooo helpful . Thank You so much for sharing ! I have tha same mica powder , Oh I can't wait to make my paste now !! ty again Michelle 🙂😍
Greetings frim Mumbai, India. Just came across tour video and thank you for sharing it. My question is, can i not use the “B” part instead of the “A” part? Reason being is i find i have a lit of the hardner left over so if i can use that up in making pigment pastes it would be great. Thank you for your reply.
Which ratio for a and B after paste made is to be put in plate holder with that tiny amount of paste? TY! It's beautiful. I mean my pasote counts as a portion of the A resin(the blue paste)
Use it as you would use any paste your purchase, it doesn't change the ratio of anything. When they manufacture paste they use either A or B as well and we have no idea. It doesn't affect the finished product.
Using mica just makes the colors shimmery and pastes purchased that are not shimmery are just the color, if that makes sense. I have never made a paste from anything other than mica so mine are always shimmery.
Thankyou, now I know what I can use my leftover part A resin for 😊❤

Viewing from the caribbean the paste came out lovely the stand to beautiful colour green my favourite
Great tutorial. Great way to use up those small sample mica bags. 🥰
Great idea! Or that one jar of resin that didn’t finish at the same time as the other 🤦♀️😁
That is awesome, thank you so much!

So glad you are wearing gloves. So few resin RUclips creators do.
I have to, I developed an allergic reaction to UV resins! Not fun!
I so enjoy your videos because you really teach instead of just making an item. Especially love the hacks you let us in on.
Thank you so much!☺️
Love this not only for the savings but also for being able to get closer to the same color when making duplicates of an item. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Right up my alley. I have long planned on doing this. Pastes are so expensive. ❤
Who knew, Thank you for sharing, A great way to get the colour you want by mixing different mica powders, can't wait to try this x

It’s takes A LOT LESS paste to color resin than powder. It will stretch your micas out longer. 😊

😁 awesome! There’s always a way!!
Very interesting
I have not seen any one do this
I have only seen people make alcohol ink
This is good to know

I have a question... Can you use part b instead of part a? I've noticed that you can buy part b by itself... But not a🤔
Yes you can use part b you may need to adjust the amounts of resin or powder to get the right consistency.
Awesome 👍 thanks! I wasn't sure because of it being the hardener. 😊
It’s only a hardener if you combine a and b together
Thanks for the video. This is going to save me a lot of money.
Really awesome! I like that I can mix a color and know it will be right the next time too!
I like that color!!!
Thank you for sharing, and now I know❤❤❤
This is awesome!! Thank you so much!!❤
Great hack! I am almost out of my favorite mica pace and will definitely use this to stretch it out more. Them you!

Thank you so much for this video!!!!!

@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Question- can you use EITHER part A or B to make this? Or does it just need to be part A?
Either one is good just don’t use both or it Will obviously cure 🥴
Well, this was enjoyable and very worth watching! Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely going to try this!!! Thanks for sharing this

@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 thank you so much for your quick reply. Will definitely try this out.
Can you use part b for this
Sure can!

Yep part B is fine too
Thanks!

Hi Michelle, I was just wondering whether we can use eye shadow with the resin to make different colours? Thanks for your videos ❤
Sure can!
I'm curious as to why you would not just add the Mica to the resin as opposed to making a paste then adding it? Im trying to figure out differences.
Pigment paste uses much less than adding mica powder. It’s just a way to conserve your powder.
Which ratio for a and B after paste made is to be put in plate holder with that tiny amount of paste? TY! It's beautiful. I mean my pasote counts as a portion of the A resin(the blue paste)

Thanks Michele I’ve been meaning to do this and your clear instructions have helped me try it. Thankyou 🤗
You’re welcome 😊
Can you do this with the harder too? I always have more hardner than resin
Yes
Is there an advantage to using paste vs adding pigments to resin? TIA
Using mica just makes the colors shimmery and pastes purchased that are not shimmery are just the color, if that makes sense. I have never made a paste from anything other than mica so mine are always shimmery.
Can i use part B i have loads left over from a failed mix? Xoxox
Yes either one will work, just don't use both together obviously it will cure LOL
Wow this is just so easy and alot cheaper too !. Have a question : Can you use this kind pigement paste in UV resin ??? BTW LOVE the colour
Yes but limit it, if it's too opaque it won't cure.
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Hugs thankyou
