  • I travel out to the El Paso Zoo to "hang out" with Sumatran baby orangutan Khalessi and mother Ibu. Baby Khaleesi has come a long way since I saw her earlier in the year! Soon she will be swinging from the ropes! NOTE: Audio was turned off at the source in several points as the crowd at the exhibit was extremely loud. I turned audio back on as soon as possible.
Research the web and understand the crisis that is affecting wild Sumatran and Bornean orangutans. Help the species!

Now this one cute baby Orangutan. She has a beautiful face and a hairdo that won’t quit. Very agile and smart enough to learn to climb up Thomas’s bars, a little to far up for moms thinking so she brings her back down. Mom lays down in the shade for a rest and baby climbs right back up the bars. Great video and fun to watch them cause they are so entertaining. Good job . I’ll keep watching for them to be in other videos.

All baby Orangs are cute in my opinion! ☺️They are so sensitive and precious animals! But they are endangered by now because of greedy humans and the animal trade!!!! ❤️🦧🦧🦧❤️

Anne Corey I think Mommy worries because of the and boisterous children, I would too. Orangutans are not an aggressive ape. In the wild all they do is break off branches and throw them down at threats. The two animals I absolutely love are Orangutans and Elephants. They both have children that take a long time to raise, are very loving and patient mothers. Elephants have much better tools at their disposal to defend their offspring tho. Poor Orangutans usually only have three children in their lifetimes and with the way Borne and Sumatra have been selling off hectares of land to be logged and burned, many many times illegally, plus the illegal pet trade these poor creatures will be so lucky to survive. Just a few weeks ago they found two baby Orangutans in a piece of luggage with an air tank, coming into one of the Middle Eastern countries. They were babies, maybe 3-4 months old. In such a case, they mothers were most certainly killed to get to their babies. An Orangutan mother will fight to the death for their children.

@@suenetteedwards5965 Hei Sue....what country are you from....????
Do you still have forest in your country....?????
Don't talk about forest in other people's country, how about your own country. Do you still have forest....?
What kind of animals living there.....?
As for Khalessi, better send her back to Indonesia. They have a jungle school there, to train orangutan to become wild. Better than living in that concret jungle, in your country.

@@mssaleha3273 I live in the US. We have many, many different climates as our country spans between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. We have what is considered a rain forest in the Northwestern US. We also have Tropical climates in the Southeastern region. I totally agree with taking all Orangutans back I home... the problem is that the "Powers that be" have no interest in saving the rainforests and therefore the Orangutans. It has been so for over 30 years.

I just wanted to thank you soooooo much for posting these videos. Your videos are the best quality on RUclips. I spent the whole weekend watching your orangutan videos and I just want you to know they brought me SO MUCH JOY. I passed them along to a couple of my friends who just subscribed as well. Watch the Orangutan School they feed them on a special platform and it's food overload. Too much fruit causes tooth decay on these precious animals. The Smithsonian channel has the school videos, a must see.

Bridgett Tubbs : I don’t think Khaleesi is bored. She is working very hard on her climbing skills. The amount they are fed probably corresponds to what they would find in the trees when out foraging. As you may have noticed, several of the adults are overweight!

The first Orangutan I ever have seen was at the Seattle zoo. It was laying down, all I could make out was a pile of hair, this was in the late 1960s when the Adams Family was popular. When that ape slowly stood up It began to look just like cousin it. Yup.!

I can watch orangutans and vervets (another new favorite of mine) all day long. If you are not aware, there is a *very* excellent Borneo jungle school episodes on Smithsonian Channel. They show them through the school in the groups. The first is called "And So It Begins". I hope that all can find it.
This is where I learned that primates young spend the first five years learning from their mother. After all their *home is in the TREES* . Learning to swing and climb is a very small challenge. Notice the mother would let her toddler explore about two feet before pulling him back to her?
Vervets is from South Africa. I think a search with vervet and South Africa will bring it up.
My God the little orphans are as big as human babies.
