- This is the frankly baffling title sequence for the Hallo Spencer Show. What connection do the two plasticine guys have with the rest of the programme? Why do they keep doing the same things over and over again? Why the hell are they worshipping a spinning office chair? No-one will ever know.

I remember when I first watched this on WFLI-TV 53. Back between the early and mid-90s, the station ran the show for a short time between Inspector Gadget and Mr. Bogus (after Mr. Bogus was AoStH and then Captain Planet & the Planeteers) right when I got off the school bus at a baby sitter's house in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. It aired around 2:30PM or 3PM.
The Hallo Spencer was cool. I always watched this tv show when I was 7 years, today I am 26 years old . this show was really special for me , because it was funny watching all puppets , thanks Spencer for everything, by the way I watched spencer in XHGC Mexico, OK. sayonara my friends.
This show is original from Germany. But our version is 7 minutes longer and some names are differnt. The original version is named Hallo Spencer, you can find it on youtube

I used to watch Hallo Spencer and I loved it. It was always obvious to me that they were searching for Spencer (age 7?).
And now, being 20, I would assume they are to represent the audience. Small/fat kids, tall and skinny kids, Hallo Spencer is for everyone and everyone loves it.
Five seconds of thinking has answered all your questions and it wasn't very hard...
Similar plasticine guys were used in some skits of the German Sesame Street. Since some scenes for Sesame Street were done by Penta TV, I believe they reused these characters for their own show "Hallo Spencer". But this is just a thought. Update: Now I heard that originally they wanted to keep the intro neutreal as not all characters were developed. The first opening only showed those plasticine guys jumping around, and coming somehow to that wall with the chair. No pictures, only a small" Hallo Spencer" in the theme.
And if you have noticed, the paintings on the wall are all characters the show ever had or has during the whole running time. Some characters disappeared, some of the were used in skits. After the 2000s one new character, Moritz the reporter, was added, but wasn't very popular.
And one other thing: The original opening doesn't have an opening credit. So there name of the show was never displayed, only spoken by the two guys. So once the opened the wall, the show started. When the show ended, they closed the wall and went away, like they do in the american intro.
They could have used a shortened version of the first intro and could have kept the original in tact and it's strange it cuts the Max & Molly and the Knobbels portraits when their segments weren't even dubbed and course the episodes with Nero weren't dubbed due to obvious reasons.
@@deleteduser24 True. This might have caused less confusion for the American Audience, just like the sign behind Spencer's chair. I don't know if "Max and Molly" was ever dubbed into English, at least the animated TV series from the 1990s. But for the show maybe they thought that the first intro was too old fashioned from the style. And also: It has one brick hanging loose on top when they discover the chair.
I remember When i was a Kid i watch Hallo Spencer Arabic Version Late 80's. Then I was at Manchester I watch This on BBC One Saturday Morning.

I remember seeing this on television. It was on WFLI TV 53 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It came on after Inspector Gadget and before Mr. Bogus, AoStH, and Captain Planet. The first episode I watched was about those twins that got their house torn down by a tornado or some other kind of storm.
The german theme is so much better. They should have kept it, although it's shorter.
Most Americans don't care where the shows they watch originate from, unless they like to research and study about them. Saban also localized some Japanese shows, most notably tokusatsu ("special effects" in Japanese) like the Super Sentei series (starting with Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger) and Kamen Rider Black RX. Saban also took some footage from some Metal Heroes shows and create some American versions like Big Bad Beetleborgs and VR Troopers.
funny, in US is "Hallo" the first name of Spencer ;) In german the show calls "Hallo Spencer" and means "Hello Spencer". our episodes are 7 minutes longer and the charekteres have different names. I love the Dallas Episode, where Spencer is J.R. Ewing

I believe the main reason why the show is called "The Hallo Spencer Show" in the U.S. is that if Saban just officially call him "Spencer", then U.S. citizens wouldn't understand why he has a sign that reads "Hallo Spencer" in his office. Saban was crazy about localizing different shows from different regions back when this was dubbed.
Interesting, I didn't know they put a different melody over it.
Although I enjoyed watching Saban's version of the Thunderbirds back then, I later noticed that he messed it up.
Saban had the rights to the U.S. version of The Hallo Spencer Show, and was syndicated from 1993 to 1994. It was a puppet based show, featuring characters created and operated, combines the entertainment and educational content in the same fashion as Jim Henson's Muppets, Sesame Street, and Nickelodeon's Eureeka's Castle.

Why do they cut the Max & Molly portraits when they weren't even dubbed?

Saban sure did mess up some foreign shows, including Thunderbirds (Fox Kids version). For one of the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider shows, Americans liked them because many have never seen tokusatsu before.
Still confusing. Spencer's chair or not, the spinning chair bit always confused me too.
This goes to the video uploader: "Why the hell are they worshipping a spinning office chair". That's easy to explain. This office chair was Spencer's FIRST EVER chair used in the very early German episodes starting from the first one back in 1979. Later, this chair was no longer placed that centrally and more of the studio deco was visible. But the design was very sparse in the very first episodes, I remember. Mainly only Spencer's chair, a little bit of junk and Spencer himself.
Those guys actually look for Spencer and call him: Hallo Spencer?
And the chair is Spencer's chair...
Saban Production totally DESTROYED Hallo Spencer or "Hello Spencer" by adding that crappy hip hop opening with those kids who sounded bored out of thier little minds and editing the bloody Hell out of it! The version I remembered was a LATAM version that aired on IMEVISION (Now TV Azteca) way before Saban Productions got thier dirty hands on it and ruined it. For the opening the two little plasticine characters shouted in Spanish "HOLA SPENCER" And the theme was a awesome Reggae style theme.

Did you know in the english version Lexi the bookworm was done by the narrator of Grimms Fairy Tales,I think.BTW do you suppose muppet show or sesame street was the inspiration for this?
I think the length of the opening theme is to long and have unnecessary repeats. I prefer the length of the german version (about 30s).
In Germany. Spencer ist not the surname, but First name. Hallo is German Word for Hello, not a first name.

For reasons I'll never understand, our local station ran this on Tuesday through Saturday mornings.
I don't get why, if they had to cut things out of the show for it running too long on US TV, they made the intro LONGER than it originally was. Makes zero sense.
I enjoyed the show, anyway. Best remember the episode where uptight Lexi tried to kick Lulu out of her train, and they had to pretend to give Lexi an actual train ride to get him to back down.

And also don't forget what Saban aslo did with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by totally destorying them and calling the show "Ninja Turtles The Next Mutation". >_

How did you call Nepumuck, the friendly guy from the castle. I've never found out hwat species he should be.
Winfried Debertin, the inventor of Spencer, said on his RUclips channel "Spencer TV ruclips.net/channel/UClfgLA2if__uR0Uz9NXxknA " that Nepumuk does not belong to any particular species. He's a bit like a bear, but he's more of a fantasy figure. His German name is Nepumuk and you cannot call him Nepi.

why? they know it is a german tv show, so the words in the backround ist german. while watching an american show, no german is wondering about english signs.
The way Saban handled (or destroyed) The Thunderbirds or Turbo Charged Thunderbirds as it was called should of called it "StuporMORONation" instead of "Supermarionation"! Instead of showing the oroiginal full hour Saban butchered it into a half hour series including taking key scenes out of the original series!
Urgh. I couldn't do this music better with my pal's professional sound card. ;-) Sounds so "home studio". And plus, it's painfully slow compared to the German original that went in a driving rock'n roll groove.
I think I know the reason: it's the ERA. If the US version had come out in the 1980s as well, they'd still have used real musicians. But since music studios can do the same much cheaper, this is done by them (and all the "human touch" wiped out). Too bad.

That is just a ripoff of Sesamstraat, the German Sesame Street. However, it had some legitimacy because the creators used to work for Sesamstraat. Please look up Hallo Spencer in both English and German Wikipedias because some stuff about the show is there. Now I would like to suggest Samsonadzeebi, the Georgian ripoff of the Simpsons. The creator of the show passes it off as an original idea but some Simpsons references in the show were very obvious. The show was poorly rendered in CGI and had aired for only one season in 2009. Thank you.
Sesame Street in Germany is called Sesamstraße and is quite different to Hallo Spencer.
