    At the government should tell people what the poverty line income is, in each province or if the CDB amount will be different for each province, base on cost of living . They should look into the amount based on How much is the rent for at least one bedroom suite + groceries+ medicine, therapy+ transportation, Cell phone and clothing will cost, this is basic living not a luxury, if someone owns the house they have mortgage, the should base it on rent because everyone have different mortgage amount. Every person with disability needs at least $2500/month

      There is information online on what the poverty line income is, for example, " They were meant to be temporary. In Ontario, the poverty line for a single person is $19,930. The income provided by Ontario Works is $7,452, leaving a $12,478 deficit. For an adult with one child, the poverty line is $28,185 and the payment is $13,497, leaving a deficit of $14,688." . Google can provide more specific information when you do your search, hope that helps.

      Yes, but they allow people on disability to work and make up to $1000 per month. Most people hate others who are on disability and say it’s an excuse to not work. They hate paying taxes to help the disabled. I agree the payout it way too low, plus it is not transferable between provinces so if you need to relocate you end up with nothing. You have to reapply all over and may not get approved. You can only apply after relocating so you have to cancel your disability before applying and you have to have moved already

      @mysticm1543 As a person who doesn't have a disability (fortunately for me), I can tell you that a great many of us are caring and absolutely want disabled people to be brought out of poverty. Please don't assume the majority of us don't care. I would be willing to pay a bit more tax on my income to lift others out of poverty. Most of us have at least one loved one living through this.

    The $200 was a slap in the face! That won't do anything to bring us up to the poverty line. The government wants us to choose MAID instead of supporting us to live. I worked, I paid taxes into CPP for the disability insurance it's not a handout. Refugees get more per month to survive than I do on disability.

      The Government of Canada website doesn't say there's an age limit. You may wish to contact the CRA and ask if you are eligible. www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/segments/tax-credits-deductions-persons-disabilities/disability-tax-credit/claiming-dtc.html#h-3

    As it relates to regulations are you we may have to go to the Supreme Court for a reference ruling so that we can get the government actually set a firm timeline for them to come up with a policies and implement implementation guidelines

    This is a very frustrating conversation to watch. When we hear about the sitting government giving a quarter of a BILLION dollars to contracts that did nothing and then watch this conversation it feels like this country doesn't give a flying hoot about its disabled population. It is not a stretch to see a tent in a park in your future with this egregious lack of attention to the actual realities people with disabilities face. The reality is "out of sight- out of mind" for the population. Depressing, just depressing.

    The legislation passed and received royal ascent without many of these issues resolved. They have left a huge opening for the insurance companies to be able to claw back any additional benefits based on how much the CDB provides the disabled person.

      I am expecting The provincial governments to shutdown provincial disability benefits once this happens or claw back the entire provincial benefit and then shutdown the programs.

  • @brendaotter9846

    You are 100% right and Carla should send out emergency text to disability people under a different section so that the other government cannot clot back checks that are clawed back and it's a military check and they called back dollar-for-dollar and that should not be happening that Ford's government doing this they don't clawback baby bonus should not call back this disability check under c22 Bill for disability people and if they need to vote to win these vote to stay in power they need two passes bill out ASP immediately

    M is 40000 per person there must be a base line for income It MUST be INDEX to INFLATION and include COST of LIVING 40 + inflation + cost of living. No clawbacks. Soical services shouldn't be taking OUR non refundable taxes and credits affecting our pensioners those on odsp and cppd who have dtc shouldn't have to live below the POVERTY line. We were once blue collar workers etc.Canadian citizens WHO hsve paid taxes too.

    They need to bring that bill c22 is law I feel they should send a check out through the CRA just like how they do baby bonus and any other check that is the fastest way to send out at for the disability people that need this money to live we are living in poverty and I don't believe that that meet standards they should come forward with a disability benefit around 1045 I meant to lift people out of poverty because they do have to pay for drugs that are not covered two other organizations like ODSP they do not cover everything this is why people are living on the streets and cannot afford to live they have worked on this bill for months the government Justin Trudeau should just pass it under amendments and send it monthly checks out everybody else is disabled that people have to live like this they say they're going to do all this for disability people but they are left behind😂😢😅

  • @verabrunobossio2857

    • @debbielockhart7762
      @debbielockhart7762 8 месяцев назад

      I should think so, otherwise what's the point? Many, many people are unable to work at all due to either mental or physical disability - so it would be grossly unfair to exclude the ones who need this the most.

  • @ryannealon7776
    @ryannealon7776 4 месяца назад

    This government as it stands, should really look at other jurisdictions such as the Netherlands as it relates to how disability benefit is supposed to be dealt with and paid out this government takes no no accountability of the people that actually are trying to better themselves and trying to get jobs, but they are not recognizing the challenges of recognizing either the challenges of finding employment or getting recognition for the education that we already have.

  • @maryupham373

    EI max benefit in 2020 was somewhere around 550 per week , I think they based the CERB amount around that number; after all , they stopped people from working , and Trudeau was buttering up people then

    If you're on ODSP I feel everybody should be eligible to receive this benefit there's a reason why you're on ODSP for disability people are you would not be eligible for ODSP this is going to lift people out of poverty that that is disabled and they couldn't send checks out through a s rgis that system is already up and going they are just holding it back for disabled people and it's not right or Humanity it's a shame that our government would do that this is already law
