Shame that Wraithguard seem to have been nerfed quite a bit. Losing their old War Construct ability kind of sucks and T6 is actually kind of a big deal dropped down from T7.

@@isaacgraff8288 They can no longer lead wraiths. Wraiths all get a bonus for being near psykers and the seers get lone operative from being near them / can do repairs.
considering Warp Spiders and Wraithguard are $62.50 each, then two boxes of $45 dire avengers, and a $35 Spirit Seer, this is a great deal (edit: by modern combat patrol standards)
Nice thing about being unpopular and disliked is aeldari prices generally go pretty cheap. Probably won't happen you know immediately or at a local store but ebay definitely values aeldari much less than retail.
My only issue is that new players will probably hate it if it’s their first box. They’ll build the warp spiders and spiritseer happily, then get to the ten dire avengers and wanna scream at all the mold lines on them
I imagine a lot of people would have been excited to get all the new Aspect Warriors along with the new Phoenix Lords and an Avatar in a "Court of the Young King" boxed set for about 5 billion dollars, but maybe I'm wrong. 1 unit of Dire Avengers with Asurmen 1 unit of Howling Banshess with Jain Zar 1 unit of Dark Reapers with Maugan Ra 1 unit of Swooping Hawks with Baharroth 1 unit of Fire Dragons with Fuegan 1 unit of Warp Spiders with Lhykhis 1 unit of Striking Scorpions with ... 1 unit of Shining Spears with ... The Avatar of Khaine That adds up to about 5 billion, but it's pretty much what everyone would probably buy especially if they did a 1 billion dollar discount.
The blood angels box is at least very blood angels and is units you’ll want for the army. The true abortions of a patrol box can be reserved for the guard box… who thought that was a good idea? Oh right, the bean counters who wanted to move models that don’t sell….
Pretty new player that started with the last eldar combat patrol a couple months ago, I’ll be picking this one up for sure. I might even consider buying two, which I think I definitely would’ve done if half of those dire avengers were anything else. Might be able to kitbash the second box of dire avengers with the leftover storm guardian bits from the previous combat patrol.
Honestly 2 works well.. especially if they are full wraith kits... the only thing you wouldn't necessarily need is a 2nd spirit seer but running 2 5 man's docent hurt... plus with 2 you get a 10man of warp spiders which is nice... I'm an aeldari main...
If you have enough bits, give some avengers flamers or melta from storm guardians. Sand down the hair of their helmets to make them flat. Now you own fire dragons. Give the spiritseer arms from the dire avenger exarch. Give him a normal guardian helmet. Now you own a warlock.
tbh the rumors is the reason why I would only would only get a dire avengers box of 10 if it was 50% off because the combat patrol is 100% gonna drop in price quickly anyway.
If I were going to start Aeldari, id probably pick this up. I like the wraith infantry and the warp spiders, and dire avengers are just a good unit to have.
The vast majority of my Aspect Warriors are still metal, mostly from the original launch. I'd been put off the plastic Dire Avengers by their frankly eye-watering cost, so this box is looking surprisingly attractive to me. And a quick reminder that the old Combat Patrol is currently trickling out right now in the Hachette mag, complete with imminently out-of-date rules. Bit of a double-edged sword on the timing there!
After being gifted a set of Guardians to get back into Warhammer for Christmas, I saw your video on the old combat patrol and panick bought one right before they were OOP. And now this! It looks like combining the old and new Combat Patrol boxes will give me a great starting army for Eldar!
I for one have been on the fence about playing Aeldari since I am a big elf guy in fantasy settings but had no idea how to structure an army of aeldari in 40k. This box set looks really appealing to me as a newbie due to the models looking nice and the fact that there is a sort of leader in charge of the army thematically with the spiritseer. I already have a space marine army and wanted to branch out into xenos so the fact that this box set is just a psychic dude leading a bunch of guys in power armor and heavy weapons is right up my ally cause that's already what my space marine army is haha
I actually believe I might buy 2 of these boxes! I own 2 of the old combat patrol, as well as some vehicles + Maugen Ra. Getting this box would mean, 2 Seers (I currently have none) to lead my already owned Wraithlords, and I could build 5 of these Wraithguards as Blades, so I could make them into diffrent units. 10 Warpspiders are fine - 2 Squads of 5 or 1 squad of 1 works perfectly. Dire Avengers would end up probably build as 15 normal ones - 1 Squad of 10 - 1 Squad of 5 (1 for my Waveserpent, 1 for my Falcon to transport)- but Since the Exarch always had like a lot of diffrent loadout options, I could imagine just Kitbash building 5 diffrent Exarchs with the remaining stuff, to have options for both squads- Would also work well to have 1x10 man squad for Asurman to lead, and the 5x to just run around and do actions. whch would mean I would only have 2 Models more than I wanted, which is perfectly fine in case I mess up on 1 or 2.
Knowing the trend of all the newer Combat Patrol boxes tend to be worse than the older ones, as a returning Eldar player I picked up the outgoing Combat Patrol box a month back before it vanished. Having only the Wraith units already, this is full of stuff I don't already have so I'll probably get it as well. Just once I've finished painting everything else :D
On top of all the other comments about this box being rather good and probably one of the best in 10ed so far, I think the fact that brand new sculpts, the Warp Spiders, are included is rather cool.
On the whole, all of the old Combat Patrols looked cooler because they contained big models like the aeldaei wraithlord and all space marine dreadnoughts and impulsors.
A lot of the problem with the original box is windrunners aren't that great. They aren't on alot of competitive lists, might change with the new codex but the new box is a lot closer to "common" competitive units besides the spirit seer but the only other leader they could put in the combat patrol would have been an autarch and they are literally to powerful to give to a discount box.
I'm pretty pleased with this combat patrol. I bought the old one last year to start my eldar army. So far I've only added striking scorpions to it so this combat patrol will be perfect.
Why, if I may ask? Is it that the Talos are meant to have a more Wraithlord-adjacent role, or...? (I ask b/c I always understood the Dark Eldar as 'the MOST Eldar' - they go faster, they hit harder, and they're even paper-ier than the Craftworlders - so in that light, the Talos being slightly flimsier than the Wraithguard would track.)
Well, really the wraithguard were t6 in 9th edition and I think most editions before that. The wraithlord was t8, which made sense. The talos is a flesh golem and the wraithlord is a tough as balls construct. I mostly got a bit annoyed when in 10th, they upped the wraith constructs toughness, but left the talos and grotesques untouched. The lord going from t8 to 11 was pretty big (again, not arguing it, they SHOULD be tougher then a talos), but the talos and grotesques not getting any increase in durability made me a bit salty. The wraith guard are already pretty durable even now at t6, I just felt like they shouldnt be as tough as my wraithlord equivalent. Lore wise, Im not entirely sure which one is supposed to be harder to put down. I know in a fair fight, a wraith guard would probably beat a grotesque, and a lord would probably beat a talos. But guard to talos, I’m not sure.
Just got my hands on one of the old combat patrols, and I feel as if the new one complements the old perfectly. Gonna add a couple of phoenix lords and call it a day for my new year, new army
this box actually seems a lot better than the previous one, especially getting into the army. 2 sets of bikes was an odd inclusion and the wraithlord just didnt felt like it fit with the look of the rest of the box. it sucks that all combat patrols from now on are just a collection of infantry but the mix of the frail but quick aspect warriors and the slow and tanky wraithgaurd is such a good combo.
I'll go for this. I've a feeling Dire Avengers are going to be more useful with the new Battle Focus rules and various strats. The Warp Spiders will be solid and can't go too far wrong with another squad of Wraithguard/blades.
Edit: quick reminder for anyone planning to get any issues of the combat patrol magazine. 9th edition Eldar are in there so if you wanted you could potentially get this and then grab the older patrol when available Much like many of the other 10th edition patrols I feel like 2 of the old and 1 of the new would be a solid base for the army
This would be a great buy for me since I have no Dire Avengers and no Warp Spiders, and I've been looking into expanding my Wraith Constructs. But if somebody already leaned heavily into aspects, this is not great
The value of dire avengers is kinda up in the air imo since both types of autarchs can be leaders for aspect warriors which would include the dire avengers (obviously). Honestly they might not be to bad to have multiple 10 mans if autarchs leading them actually buffs them enough.
On the one hand, I really liked getting the Wraithlord, but on the other hand I will not miss how bike heavy that old box was. When I started Eldar with their 9th Edition release I really only ever bothered buying one of that box because I did not then nor have I ever liked doing bike heavy armies.
I haven’t collected eldar, but if I was I’d absolutely buy this. And I’d rush out and snag one of the old combat patrols I can still find a few places. I just have no time to enjoy them, and have two armies to support instead
Feel like this is a very nice addition to the current combat patrol or the one before that( farseer, wraithlord, war walker and wraithblades). Especially because dire avengers are really good now, shiney new models, and spiritseer and more wraith units is always fun. Already got 10 dire avengers tho and basically never play 2000 point so thats enough for me (and i dont want to paint 10 more dire avengers) but the rest would make me really happy. Maybe i‘ll just sell the da‘s
It would be a fun CP if the Dire Avengers kits were not so old, the mold lines are terrific and they look tiny compared to any new model, even despite their glorious hats,
I guess you mean terrible, not terrific. Don't like the dire avenger models as well. Too old and really wonky. Even the studio painted models from gw themselves have wonky, lazy eyes. Will kitbash some for myself with some guardian kits, i suppose.
@@SkorianDnb That's what I meant, sorry, second language. I think the same as you - my own DA are kitbashed with Corsair bodies that at least look the part!
Wraith are the center piece here... plus they are trying to make war walkers a take 2 thing now... even then their meh... a 10man of dire avengers with 4+ overwatch can kill a terminator squad...
I would have rather have more new units for this combat patrol, but it’s not a bad box. Most people will get for it the spiders and more wraiths are always nice to have. Shame that we didn’t had new dire avengers. While in plastic, they are the same designs of the previous finecasts version and the molds have quite a few issues.
@@boyanpenev9822it would be absolutely hysterical if, after FINALLY rereleasing the much-memed Oldest Goddamned Model for the Eldar, the Oldest Model award passes to... Still the Eldar. I honestly have some fondness for the pre-revision version of the models.)
Someone could buy 2 of these have a solid core for a Eldar Army. You can also buy this Combat Patrol, 2 Wave Serpent/Falcon, Asurmen, and one more unit of your choice and have a solid core to play with.
10:00 I don’t think it needs to have Guardians and a Farseer again, I already had at least twenty and a farseer before I got the last box (I made them into Storm Guardians). But also, I do suppose the Dire Avengers would make me question getting a second one of these boxes, since I have 10, but I probably don’t need 30.
To me it's an upgrade, the last one had Farseer and Wraithlord overlapping with the old Star Collecting (yes this one has Wraith Infantry but that box builds two units).
Good that I never bought Dire Avengers, now I have a reason to get them and Asurmen and use my Wave Serpent. With the codex now it's possible to drop out of it, ignore overwatch , shoot stuff and jump back into the serpent again in the same turn. xD
If only this had Asurman instead of the Spiritseer. Would have been the best recent combat patrol. Spiritseer still makes sense though given the Wraithguard.

Does anyone have a guess as to when we can order it?
Anyone know what time the special edition codex is going on sale for preorder on the GW store?
This makes a great expansion if you started with the last combat patrol
I really don't think it's fair to compare any CP against Custodes considering how expensive those units are
as far as variety and good models.. GW finally stepping up.. hopefully we see this continue..
Id prefer if one squad of dire avengers would be swapped for a war walker or something as a centerpiece.
Wraith are the center piece here... plus they are trying to make war walkers a take 2 thing now... even then their meh... a 10man of dire avengers with 4+ overwatch can kill a terminator squad...
@@cowkingkiller They lost their overwatch ability
I just bought the old Combat Patrol because it was such a good deal, I'm glad to see a new one to blow my money on XD
Again, no vehichle.
Thankfully
As an aeldari player I prefer to have a lot of small units than to have vehicles
I definitely want 2 but not yet as I want certain other things first 😊
I’m glad I just bought one of the old Combat Patrols, the new one seems like a good expansion to it.
I did the same just before christmas
Cool I get to add some colour to my Ulthwe army! lol I need/want all of these models
With the new Warp Spiders out, what’s the oldest 40k model now?
Space wolves characters?
Catachans gotta be up there.
I think it may be the eldar falcon and vyper, both from 1997.
@@boyanpenev9822it would be absolutely hysterical if, after FINALLY rereleasing the much-memed Oldest Goddamned Model for the Eldar, the Oldest Model award passes to... Still the Eldar.
(I owned the metal versions of the Warp Spiders when I was a young 'un, so when I heard people talking about them in Finecast, I had to go check that I hadn't made the metal versions up. I honestly have some fondness for the pre-revision version of the models.)
So new players could get the current combat patrol and the new one to build an army adding a unit or two to reach 1k?
It does look like it would compliment the old one nicely
This is by a long shot the best combat patrol of 10th. Ridiculous that eldar always gets the best stuff.
Someone could buy 2 of these have a solid core for a Eldar Army.
You can also buy this Combat Patrol, 2 Wave Serpent/Falcon, Asurmen, and one more unit of your choice and have a solid core to play with.
This isn’t a horrible box. I could definitely use some more of these units.
I like it, specially after buying the previous one when I heard it was going to be retired
I think both complement very well to start
This looks kindof cracked ngl
To me it's an upgrade, the last one had Farseer and Wraithlord overlapping with the old Star Collecting (yes this one has Wraith Infantry but that box builds two units).
Old Aeldari Combat Patrol is inclued in Combat Patrol Magazine.
xmas battleforce, 1 of each aspect warrior and leader.
main box 3 swwoping hawks and leader with tank.
It's a good selection but I already bought 10 Dire Avengers and 20 wraithguard, and I'll bet we will see a new Combat Patrol price point with this.
Did dire avengers gain battleline? That is the only reason why I can see them selling 10 in the box?
Good that I never bought Dire Avengers, now I have a reason to get them and Asurmen and use my Wave Serpent. With the codex now it's possible to drop out of it, ignore overwatch , shoot stuff and jump back into the serpent again in the same turn. xD
I'm definitely getting one!!!
the old dire avengers are the killer for me, dont really want them as im hoping we'll get new ones in an edition or so
It's a nice box. Only real issue is that it's not coming out until later.
If only this had Asurman instead of the Spiritseer. Would have been the best recent combat patrol. Spiritseer still makes sense though given the Wraithguard.
Do they ever put named characters in a combat patrol?
@@Argumemnon Death Guard one has Typhus. World Eaters have Lord Invocatus. Feel like the Genestealer one has something as well. Just those off the top of my head.
@@rebeccalewis938 Huh, I had forgotten those. Thanks.
Gonna be grabbing it because I do want everything in it. Though it's not amazing
Considering I'm someone who wants to add 15 dire avengers, ten warp spiders and ten wraiths to my army.
A couple of the box will finish my army
Target audience: you. (Presumably also some others, but certainly you.)
@vdate honestly you're right it's practically made for me
@@zackcook5123 honestly, kinda same. (I bought the 9e patrol as a painting project, and although I do like the jetbikes a lot, I would like more of the iconic Eldar infantry specialists.)
Wish I didnt have 30 Dire Avengers all ready :(
why feel sad that you dont want to spend money, thats a good thing
