Sosa Justo the beauty of growing up and listening to music from your childhood is actually u derstanding lyrics with a more mature mind. bc as a kid i didn’t really like this song and since it was the last one on the album i never really listened to it but as an adult i listen to this song and hear the lyrics and i’m like “JESUS!!! these lyrics are deep and wild” Aaliyah was such an interesting individual and love really fucked her up. this shit sounds like something SZA would appreciate...bc she is willingly saying i’ll be the side bitch if that’s alright with you..

The thing that would've given Aaliyah longevity in music was her constant desire to be ahead of the curb and reinvent her sound from album to album. This album didn't sound like One in a Million and One in a Million didn't sound like the debut. Nothing in R&B sounded like _Aaliyah_ in 2001. While her contemporaries were seeking "immediate" hits from The Neptunes & Darkchild (no shade to them), she trusted her team of relatively unknown (outside of Timbaland) producers to deliver the goods. She was fearless and seemingly not afraid to fail. It's so unfair that her life was taken at such a young age.

Well said dear! I couldn't agree more. I have always believed that she always put the art over record sales. Aaliyah wasn't the artist who was simply looking to put a hit song on the radio, but instead always showcased creativity and innovation in her work, qualities that have certainly distinguished her from her contemporaries. She was a talented and beautiful artist, gone way too soon.

this is one of the many standout tracks on the Aaliyah album. The subject matter was ahead of it's time. this side chick anthem was way before Summer Walker, SZA, Rihanna, etc. The Aaliyah's album was a masterpiece and it was her BEST body of work. Its so scary to think this was her last body of work and we've gotten everything we could possibly get from Aaliyah with this album. You have the club bangers like More Than A Woman, The ballads like I care 4 U and the laid-back tracks like It's Whatever and Rock the Boat. What more could you possibly want? Aaliyah covered love topics, domestic violence, being the other woman, getting out of bad relationships and sex.

This album was such a classic but so was one in a million. Her, timbaland and missy really were the Holy trinity. They were a perfect storm of creativity that came together, and we also cannot forget the incredibly dope choreography of Fatima Robinson that was born of their wonderful relationship and music with one another. Her choreo to ALL of Aaliyah’s videos was iconic.

Didn't pen her lyrics, but she knew how to bring those lyrics to life!! Aaliyah was a terrific artist!! Understandably why she was a muse to so many, as she was a visionary in all aspects of her #art!! When you listened to this record, she is not glorifying infidelity, as if you listened to her tone throughout the song, that melancholic sound tapers throughout the song, as she would prefer her lover to be her guy and no one else's. Even as she tells him weekends for me would be enough, you can hear the sheer sadness in her voice. It's very transparent that she isn't happy at all with the state of their relationship, yet she is willing to take a chance and see where it goes, and of course decides if this is the type of relationship she wants to be in or the person she wants to be with smh Nice song; excellent delivery!!💙

Damn... this song reminds me of when I found out that I was the side chick last summer. I found out in the worst way, too. /: I briefly felt this way, and tolerated it for him. Then, I realized how wrong it was, and just walked away.
