  • In this video we are going to take a quick look at the difference between a regular sweep, sweep with guide rail and sweep with guide surface. While the guide surface just needs to be a face, this can often times make the difference between a good and bad sweep and is especially easy to set up for revolved type parts.
Its not perfect, but its what we have.

I've been studying this series thoroughly and it's been extremely helpful! I noticed you already did a lengthy series on the form tools. I feel that I have a good grasp on the solid tools, but now I'm branching out into the surface and form tools. Do you think it's better to focus on form or surface first, or does it matter?

Thanks! It really depends on what sorts of things you are modeling. Forms can make quick work of complex shapes, but very little is going to be 100% complete as a form. It will always need solid or surface work after. I think making complex shapes is easier and higher quality in Fusion with forms.

thanks for the video, could you please make a video how to sweep (or loft ) a coil with different start and end profiles, without twisting along way... ?

I did do a video on how to model any coil, but the sweep tool doesn't allow for a change in profile and loft doesn't really have a way to control twist in the same way. The best method is to sweep the coil and then model the path for the ends if you are trying to do a ground end or something. The best way to control the sweep is to use a guide surface like in this video.
