Wow Joe, Nathan is a true gentleman and businessman! He fits right in with you and what you stand for. I hope that a lot of haters of loggers and wood cutters have seen this video so they can understand the true value of his work as a logger. It's very important to maintain good forest health for future generations. Also your part in it as well. Great video Joe, keep up the good work. Hope to see more of Nathan and Jesse.
Joe, great video. I’m sure all the wood hounds that will show up to your expo would be more than happy to win a load of firewood poles. I wish you the best & hope the weather cooperates with your expo day. Have fun, be safe & remember, HAVE A GREAT DAY. 👍 Can’t wait to see the video of the show. Dave D. from Southern Me.😮
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. An interesting video on the logging/firewood industry. Over here I never see logging trucks of deciduous trees. To my knowledge the logging industry comprises only of coniferous forests planted over the 50/60 years encouraged by governmental grants. I contemplated such a project in the 70s but couldn't get the business case to stack up at the time.
This legitimately a really cool idea for someone within that 75 or less mile range. Plus, it helps Joe plenty as well. Great thinking, good attitude, and selfless actions by you Nathan! Not many would think of giving up profits in these greed obsessed days.
Hello Joe, and greetings to Nathan, seems like it’ll be another good partnership. Elaine from Canada, was nice to hear NB ‘s company philosophy and business model of foresting trees. “Wood doesn’t grow on trees!” Heh heh. But soon it’s time to feed the Red monster . Cheers
So True Joe as Nathan is a very Respectable person in the Firewood Industry. He does respect the Landowner when they Log it. I would just buy some Raffle Tickets if I was there to support his Work even living here in New York. We need more People like you and Nathan in the World we Live in. I am Sharpening my Saw up today and Plan on Cutting some Rounds up this Weekend. I just wish I could be there to Join your upcoming Event. Down the Road I will get there 1day, bring my Gloves to meet you and help you out. I am doing OK, but still get very Tired if I push it over an hour. Looking forward to your next Video my Friend. PS, SAVE ME A SHIRT LARGE SIZE IN OWB, IF YOU WOULD. I WILL ORDER 1 IN THE UPCOMING WEEK. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Nice going, Joe. So, far I have only met 2 in firewood (near me) that I just never need to run into again. The rest no problem and welcome back. Looks like Nathan will be a good source as well as Jessie. 😉👍
Winning combo, I think. Good video again Joe. Over here we've had lots of problems created by forestry practices often by overseas companies. But not always. Nice to hear Nathans views. Impressive ethics. Cheers from HB NZ
That is a great raffle offering from Nathan. It appears Nathan and Log Hauler Jesse share the same quiet and hard work ethic. Joe, with all the logs that Nathan is going to be bringing to you, the performance bar for Employee of the Month will certainly rise. 🤣
I watched this post while i was driving an Amish mill owner. We were hunting for standing timber to buy. I can find the trees, but the satellite image doesn't show if the standingntimber is for sale. I wait and watch RUclips while my customer talks to land owners about buying their timber.
Yes I have now that you mention it. I guess you know that woodworkers will pay you good money for just a little bit of walnut. It usually makes perfect sense to sell it to someone.
All Cherry is good cherry! Esp if you cook over wood - or sell to those who do, lol. Where I live, there are scores of Silver maples and Norway maples that were planted at least 50 years ago. Most are now HUGE. The Silvers are often way overgrown, and becoming problem children- so limbs and whole trees are being cut. The Norways apparently aren't liking the wetness of the soil in many places, and quite a few have root rot, and are dying. This means a near limitless supply of logs, limbs, and stumps for me to cut up! Rather than paying to have the wood hauled away, they dump it in piles out of the way- for whomever wants to cut it up and take it. Some has been there for years, is barkless, still solid, and ready to burn within DAYS!
Here in North Carolina unless it’s a pine grove or a logger that chips for fuel wood . There is always a big mess otherwise. And not as much fire wood here in NC like you guys up north .
I love cutting wood but I am sort of a tree hugger. It takes so long to grow a tree. I have been heating with wood since 1979 but have cut very few live trees and then only when it was going to be cut anyway. 95% of everything I have ever cut was dead or on the ground. That is a very nice load of perfect size logs for your processor.
Oh man! What a deal! I AM from Iowa, so guess I'm out HA. I guess I could pay the $4350 trucking... That would be sweet to win for a local guy though. Great that Nathan is willing to do that for the expo.
@@ohiowoodburner I live in Louisiana and it be a fun way to participate and I am a disabled first responder so I'm sure it can be a hardship for my fellow disabled responders to heat up there so it's win win. .
5$ a mile just covers cost of fuel for the Big trucks... we usually get 4 mpgs and at 4$+ a gallon that's a dollar a mile out and a dollar a mile back home...hell Joe, before eye retired the last set of Michelin Steer tires eye purchased was 1600.00$ That was in 2020....
My favorite saw is a husqvarna 395 with a 24inch bar. But I’ve been running the new 592 husqvarna with a 24 inch bar and I’m really starting to like it. Great power to weight ratio for cutting big timber!
I wish Nathan would talk to loggers around here. In my neighborhood, they just pull out the saw logs and leave everything else. You ask them about firewood poles and they act like they have no idea what you’re talking about. 🤷🏻♂️
haha. I see that here too. The logger we were discussing left a mess right on the cut of some nice houses with expensive yards...looked like a hurricane wen thru there

And we would cut alot pa maryland line and we felt like yes we made it when we crossed in to pa with triaxle maryland was always all over us real hard asses. And i know what your thinking but nope we weren't dragging a shitload of mud on the road
Expo idea :- Joe, next time your stacking firewood,,, can you set out a "cord" of firewood, maybe a cord in one row from your existing stacks,,, and a cord in 2 rows or 3 rows maybe? Reason being its an expo, and demonstrating the unit measurement for firewood might be an enlightening exposition. Other reason is, folk mention "facecord" and I dont know what they're talking about really,,,, do the firewood industry a favour and bring back "the cord" I'll have a face pound if butter thanks! I have a face dollar, wanna buy it for 2 dollars? I'll have a face ton of cement please? See what I mean? "face cord" is batshit bonkers

Good job getting a good working relationship with a good reputable local logger. That’s very helpful to your business.
Neat stuff, Joe! Maybe you can have a vid at one of Nathan’s worksites…to see the equipment and process of Timber Stand Improvement. 🤔👍
we had discussed that Dave. The mud had been a factor lately but if i am able I will do just that.
Great video. Nice to meet Nathan. Just wish he was located on the other side of PA. I hope that you both have a great day👍🏻!

I am a huge fan of silver maples. I have learned that as they get older their stumps will rot out and hollow out.
@@ohiowoodburner yeah, they're prone to heart rot. Whoch isn't cool when they are in yards, and hanging over houses and driveways. Lotsa shade though!
