It is fine. But what happened between two brother and sister should not have applied to everyone. There are some who toil with a wife, have children together so why should someone who never got involved with the wealth creation take everything. Some olden laws do not make sense. This has brought so much animosity between families. It has caused many in marriages to be less transparent to each other. This law is terrible. It is destroying many marriages and mostly the men do suffer.
@Asharde Ashley, totally agree.👍🏾 v archaic system of inheritance, which needs reviewing & updated. Everyone has a father but not everyone has an uncle. Just confusion and creates hatred.
Nice story but it's not clear and sound. There's some comments this old woman passes in her narrative that contradict the authenticity behind maternal inheritance among all Akan state/tribes. This type of maternal/uncle inheritance don't make sense but Akans are trying to find every means to defend it. Even we the Akan rooted's don't get it but still our old people still find lies to defend it. This maternal inheritance thing bring chaos among families and siblings and such hatred has become inseparable in almost every Akan family home, wife and husbands family, Children and cousins etc... Abù practice polygamy and in polygamous home, no woman will allow her child go through slavery because it's not only she and her children benefited from her husbands money. So polygamy in effect destroy family Union. Again, Grandma said; Asua the sister of Abu told her husband that; when you came to marry me you were told when you make wealth or anything good I find in my marriage I should take it home !! This tells me that, this sort of maternal/uncle inheritance was before the said event Grandma narrate happened and I wonder if the story true !! How possible a man would allow or tolerate such a bad habit from his wife. That you'll send mine child into slavery without waiting for me to come and discuss with me.? We're tired of some ancient lies.
