Thanks for the shoutout man! I do bloods, and both species of short tail, plus some Australian stuff. Probably the most important thing you didn’t touch on is how crucial good ventilation is to them. Easiest way to get them sick is a lack of good low level ventilation. I also keep my hot spots much cooler. Not always but often too warm of a hot spot can make them temperamental. I keep mine ambient of 78-81 and if I’m issuing a hot spot about 84/85. If you do go higher make sure they have ample space to get cooler. Also they are somewhat similar to balls as far as ovulation to eggs. Roughly 50 days give or take is pretty common. Most girls seem to lay between day 26-35 post shed. I’ve had them go as late as 51 days though and still give a viable clutch.
Lonely Grandsouls yeah, there’s something about being too warm that amps them up. Even a degree or 2 can make a world of difference. Glad it could be of some help to you and him so you guys can both enjoy your time together better!
@@pythonman8103 just meaning literally having ventilation low in the animals enclosure. These guys are heavy breathers and strictly terrestrial and the older they get the heavier they breathe. So by adding ventilation about an inch from the bottom of the tub you allow some of the fumes that are more dense than the air to escape and it’s helps to keep the animals respiratory system cleaner and healthier as bloods are extremely prone to issues with it if they breathe that in.
Wow I’m glad you said that. Why don’t I ever see any holes low in people’s tubs that keep bloods? If I see holes in tubs at all they are toward the top of the tubs. How many holes should I drill in the tub for proper ventilation? Thanks again! You are awesome!
I recently got my first Blood Python. They are awesome! Mines about a year old and sweet as can be. Using coconut fiber and cypress mulch for substrate. Humidity from 70-80. And about 75°-85°
I've been wanting a blood for a few yrs now!! You sharing information like this is making it getting easier for me to want to pick one up and knowing i could keep it with my ball's is even cooler!! Thanks for sharing brother!!
Great video Brian! Amazing point you made in the beginning of the video about the variables from one personal reptile room to another. Varying climates, etc! Thanks for the NERD shoutout as well! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video. On a totally non-related topic, I just realized, making videos gives you a good excuse to talk to yourself, and not seem completely insane.
I remember first time I had a bigger python leak water out of her mouth. I thought for sure my snake was broken. Just a mouth full of water. Makes me wonder if that's like a mouth cleaning method or something? Good info even if I never keep a blood. But I definitely want an indigo some day. Do a whole video on them? Much love Kusko family
Lol just last week my Coral glow clown I pick them up and he spit water at me I thought that was odd now you just mentioned it great videos and my daughter loves your video's. she loves the what do you know we play it all the time keep up the good work
Absolutely love this video Brian!! 10:36 that my Orion as a baby! (I matchup the patterns, its him) yours going into second shed is on par with Orion, it's been almost 2 weeks sense he has his second shed. I definitely learned to do some stuff different with my husbandtry. Her in Alabama we eather have 60% humidity or 100% humidity so getting that 60 70 % has been a issues. Introduction of any water can put.it 80% or more. I'm about spot on on temps. He s 819g as of this morning.
I know someone who has one and she was trying a hybrid blood/ball project. See what happens. That aside, I'm hopefully getting my first lock with my ball pythons soon. Fingers crossed that they work their magic. 😂
I AM NOT A FAN OF REPTILES BUT YOU AND YOUR SNAKES ARE INCREDIBLE! I wish I could overcome my fear of snakes 😂😂😂 beautiful snake btw and thanks for the video.
Definitely nothing wrong w your way looks like your doing awesome! I personally keep my short tails on paper w LARGE water bowls they can soak in. I also dont have a hotspot for mine and they have never refused a meal. Took frozen thawed right away. Awesome looking bloods though and great info!
Fantastic video. We just got our first Blood Python and she is amazing. My question is the people we got her from said not to use substrate so they can't bury themselves? They said that just using paper will keep them more docile. I live in Florida and the humidity is always high.
I tried both for a few months but I had to feed my hatchlings live pinky's and pups most of them didn't switch to frozen /thawed until like 3 months old it was like a switch turned on everybody took at the same time
I appreciate the video. I've subscribed to all those channels because I have a pair of bloods I want breed next season. I love my big female and her potential baby daddy is awesome too. I keep her on newspaper for now because her PVC cage was leaking. Question about how big is sangria and her husband?
Do you have any of the black and white ones? Are those also blood pythons? Or are they a subspecies called short tail? I really like the black and white ones I've been seeing on MM :)
I feel you on the sick thing man. I did the same thing to my girlfriend and bam the next day it hit me. I think arrogance got me sick more than anything.
Waaait! Whaaat! All water substrate?? For bloods? Thats a thing that's a possibility? Is this done for like a short period of time for the babies only or as a possible permanent thing? I have a blood and he spended mass amounts of time.in his water dish. I am wondering if offering him a more of all or mostly water substrate setup would be benecial for him. Definitely wanna know more about that. Do you have contact info for the person who keeps his on water i would love to ask him some questions?
Hi, I'm the newby to the reptile world....a question a bit off point but will a Blood successfully breed with a Ball and if so could that be a gateway to a red Ball Python???
Hi love the vids! I bought a blood at the 2020 aneheim show and it still hasn’t eaten. It’s about the same size as the juvenile your holding in your vid. I’ve tried rats and mice, both live and frozen and nothing seems to take. Any advice?
hello sir Blood Python coming to my house yesterday 😅,i accidentally adopt that snake, the problem is i don't know how to make that snake eat can u help me..
First off you need to contact who you got the snake off, ask them what they was feeding whether it was live, frozen thawed or pre kill... once you get that info you can go from there 👌
@@80s90shiphop Erm The problem is that BP is from wild forest 😳 and very2 aggressive 😅😅,so i decided to send it back from where it comes from because that BP will be fine thereafter🙂

Lonely Grandsouls 80-83 ambient would work in most cases without a hot spot yes. Hot spots are often used at least periodically when offered.
Can you please tell me what “low level”. Ventilation means? Thanks.

I'm saving money for a pvc enclosure because temperature and humidity is a pain in a glass tank.
Blood pythons are AWESOME!!
I have my list of favorite snakes:
·King Snake
·Hognose
· snail snake
·dragon snake
·tree boa/python
Smaller the better!
I absolutely love hognose! They look so derpy!

Snakes don't have a larynx nor the muscle power to keep water in, if they just drank a lot and hang off a shelf or branch, gravity works against it.
Awesome thanks I didn't know the proper terminology.

I suppose if they're not used to being hidden that will make them more confident out in the open. Best guess
