I travelled on this stretch in Dec-23 and the lane discipline was the biggest safety hazard. The signage is clear, the left lane is for slow moving and heavy vehicle. Cars and Buses need to stay in the center lane and the right lane is only to be used for overtaking. What we faced was a complete mess and I had to be very vigilant about so many lane violators. Slow moving heavy vehicles going on the overtaking lane on the right. Some vehicles cruising only on the overtaking lane and not switching back to middle lane. Blinkers? I think so many don't know they exist and just swerve at high speeds.

One major issue is heavy vehicles, including trucks and buses, hogging the fast lane instead of sticking to the slow lane. This should be an offense. In almost all countries, heavy vehicles adhere to the slow lane unless overtaking. India is an exception.

More then 50% of the vehicles avoid paying toll by exiting one exit before the toll, forcing them to pay toll will help recover this cost.
As slow vehicles occupy the fast lane, it necessities the need to change lanes, more lane changes means more chances of a crash.

Its an amazing highway. I use this highway twice every week. There are a few unscientific curves but it's probably not more than 2/3 on each side. The biggest problem is lane discipline. Particularly slow(er) moving vehicles in fast lanes. Keeping a speed limit of 100 makes the slower guy feel safe in the fast lane and they continue like that. The regular highway rule of slow lane, drive lane and overtaking lane should be applied. Penalize those blocking traffic in the fast lane.

Drove on this road couple of weeks back. Job is well done but people find ways to ruin it. Saw the fence cut in multiple places. People crossing the road as if it’s their personal property. Heavy/slow moving vehicles in the fast lane and at times even two wheelers. But this is the case in all of India. When people not following the rules are just not aware or simply don’t care, there’s no way the road safety will improve. These violations should be taken seriously as they put peoples lives in danger. These projects are by the people for the people. So unless people don’t take these things seriously there’s very little that can be done.

I had a chance to drive here and it was amazingly good as i followed all the sign boards and rules similar to what people do in any developed country. I felt it to be relatively safe except few trucks driving on the fast lane (which should be banned). Some cars/ Volvo buses were too fast and there were cows in one stretch and a lady who was grazing them. I felt most drivers were sensible! Hope 100% of drivers drive with sense which could save this 600+ crores from the central govt which can be used for more productive things.

India needs its citizens to follow the traffic rules…. It’s2024 and RTO needs to stop giving licenses to people who don’t even pass the exam and driving test. Sadly even till today all the agents and RTO offices takes bribes and give license and such nonsense people drive on highways without any knowledge around the city and highways and get accidents. Fun fact for we as Indians never follow a single traffic rules on a daily basis and expect the roads and traffic to be perfect. By now majority are educated and can read and write by now at least(basic schooling completion is also considered educated and just not having degree or etc) . Being educated and act as uneducated fools is the speciality of our country. Installing speed camera isn't going to solve overspeeding, but instead of collecting bribes and fines from private owners, RTOs should impose jail time and social service duty to repeat offenders and road rage maniacs.

Road is good. Blame foolish drivers who don't know about their car stopping capabilities.. if you check the accident vehicles 95% are small cars who are racing like idiots and bcoz of poor breaking they collide or flip to the other side. Of course there are some unsettled parts in road soon they may settle with new patch works. A BMW can touch 220km speed ie it can drive at 60% power easily all day. (140km) where as a maruthi or hundai can touch 160km and should be driven below 100km speeds .. premium cars have power weight and good breaking compared to our skinny cars.

With India set to improve road infrastructure, the buyers should seriously start considering sedans again over unsafe micro, mini suvs. Real SUVs are for off-road travel and not for city/highway usage. Ofcourse, the road conditions are one reason for the buyers choosing these pseudo SUV, but still a large segment considers these a matter of esteem since SUV commands road presence and this attitude needs to change !
