Cease and desist from playing A/9 off suit...from any position, lol! Also, I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work you put into making these videos; by now I've become familiar with the fact that filming, editing footage, taking notes on each hand, etc as a poker vlogger is a very time consuming process so kudos to you, sir, for such a well done job! Keep em coming every Sunday!

A9 offsuit is ok to occasionally raise, steal, put pressure, etc, on SB, button, cut off, hi Jack, depending on situation, etc. Also ok to limp that on SB, button, cut off, hi Jack, when behind other limpers in front, have good pot odds, etc.
Also good to call with that on BB vs a small 3 X standard raise, with good pot odds, depending on situation, etc.
Also good to once in occasional while, standard 3 X bb open raise A9 off from low jack, early position, middle position, to overcome card dead periods, not play with hand face up, mix things up, balance out your range, etc.
Also A9 is ok to occasionally 3,4 bet once in while, depending on situation, etc. And it's ok to occasionally call a 3 bet with A9 depending on situation.
Also 6,7,8,9 X bb raise squeezes with A9, occasionally, once in while can be ok, depending on situation to steal, scoop blinds, antes, limp ins, etc, once in while, depending on situation.
Also A9 off is ok occasionally once in while to resteal reraise depend on situation.
A9 off depending on situation, is not a auto automatic fold preflop, etc.

What about adding a category for good players, crushers, and wizards? I play in a terrific 1/3 game and the player pool is very wide. But there are several very competent players--I would think your fellow vlogger, Doug, would be one of the competent ones. How about adding a "Doug" category? Great vlog and hope you start to run better.

I recognise that sound, it's the 1/2's, not sure if you are playing limit buy in's, if you are playing limit 1/2 blinds you need to step up to 2 or 3/5 or 5/10, that is where you will get value for your winning hands.

regarding mixing in some bluffs --- how about making Q9 suited hearts -- one hand that you bluff -- from watching your other vlog -- didn't take note of the number but it was the one you showed every hand...... queen nine was one of the hands you regularly folded - and for good reason --- but maybe that could be a hand say Q9 of hearts and clubs --- that you bluff raise and show..... to create a little uncertainty and more calling for your bigger better raises...... also 87 spades -- you might consider --- and hand you like to play and wouldn't mind playing for a raise but also a hand you would fold to a reraise --- but either way --- show it.

Hi, I'm new to your channel. Thanks for your content.
How do you classify players like me that don't fit your color scheme?
I am a semi tight to semi moderate tightness to looseness ratio, about a 24% VPIP, and see the flop about 26,27% of time in sit n go's, tournaments, cash games. I am semi aggressive, and bluff about 7 to 17 to 33% of the time, depending on situation(1 time I went all in every 2,3,4 hands no matter what I had preflop, because nobody at table called unless had AA. Went on to win that 115 person $50 buy in tournament for a $900 win)(was at a tribal casino).
My playstyle, etc, is I play positional poker, and a mix of exploitative, and GTO mix, combination, into 1 method, style. I cbet about 49% to 67% of time depending on situation, game, tournament, position, table, player, skill edge, stack sizes, etc.
I am a semi winning, semi poker shark, etc, player. Have been playing since about 2005, for about 17,18,19 years both at Brick and mortar casinos, and online.
Offline I have cashed about 115 to 125 to 135 out of about 300 tournaments, and cash about 36% of sit n go's, tournaments, etc, and have about a 19% ROI in tournaments, sit n go's, cash games, etc, both online, offline, etc.
I have read, studied, applied, learned from my poker coach, mentor, Harrington on Hold Em, Super System by Doyle, Full Tilt Tournament green book by Chris Ferguson, Helmuth's poker book, skalansky's poker book, Full Tilt poker academy, Upswing Poker, J Little's Poker coaching academy, 2+2 poker forums, Bart Hanson at Crush Live Poker, Nathan Blackrain Poker videos, Doug Polk videos, Poker Profit Vlog, numerous poker blogs, experience, etc.
So if someone like me was at your table, how would you label them?(I"m often mislabeled by everybody at the tables in some form)
I think you need to come up with a color for a poker shark, winning player, etc, as I don't think your color scheme accounts for players like me, sharks, winning players, etc.
As for how you did, I agree with you, that you need to widen, expand your ranges, work on your bet sizing, make more multi purpose bets that make draws pay too much, extracts value, turn hands into semi bluffs, protects hands from draws, etc, that bigger bets, about 3/5 to 2/3 to 3/4 to 4/5 to pot to 1.5 pot to double pot to all in, etc, depending on situation, etc. I do think you need to bluff more, and when bluff, pick better spots(altho sometimes you probably do bluff in good spots, and just keep running into buzz saws), and need to Tilt less, and know when to quit, etc.
    Hope that helps you, others.
Thanks again for your content. Hang in there, and good luck, etc.

I only got to watch the first half last time so now I'm finishing off the last half :) You mention just before 15:00 about going card dead for an hour - I am adjusting my game specifically in that spot - in VR people play a ridiculous amount of hands because they "get bored" otherwise. I've personally developed some habits that won't help me at all in a live game, likely akin to those people who look down at their phones after they fold instead of taking advantage of the information they can glean. I know mine is partially about anxiety - my game is just beginning to solidify and I can be knocked off my game by paying attention to others too much.
What are some of the things you did early on to gather quality information after you fold?

    • @NorCal_Poker
      @NorCal_Poker  4 месяца назад

The main thing is to look for sizing tells & the hands your opponents get to showdown with! That will help you realize how they play

  • @Some_guy_with_a_beard
    @Some_guy_with_a_beard 4 месяца назад +1

Glad you got your dog a nice couch! Might need to get him a buddy to share it with lol.
A couple thoughts; on your J9 hand after your 3bet, I think you kinda played your hand face up. Against that opponent it probably wouldn't matter but if you had a missed AK you would probably downbet to $40 after 3betting to $45. If you play your made hands the same way you play your missed hands (especially on the flop) you'll look polarizing to opponents and be tougher to play against.
On your A2 of spades flush, I think you could've bet larger when you made your flush. The opponent had nothing this time, so no matter what you did you weren't getting paid but when the opponent does make a flush you want max value. How many times have you seen opponents fold even a 5 high flush? I feel like they're almost never folding that. Also, some opponents will even call a large bet with like QJo type hand with 1 spade.
Great content and love the vlog! Looking forward to seeing you crush your end of year goal!

I understand some of your play, but some of your cbets are abit off. Like KQ on A52 multiway is just pure check. Even heads up like CO vs BB, good Kx usually checks here, since not much worse folds to a bet and Bb has all suited Ax.
Also when you 3b QQ and get 4b clicked to 120, i think jamming is the worst option. I think you could make an argument for folding even, since the 4b click is just so nutted in low stakes. At best, you are against AK, since they are never/ever/ever finding the bluff here with like A5s/ATs/KQs etc.
All in all nice play and good results! I might have to hop in the GG game 😂

@@NorCal_Poker My assessment from what you've shown up to that point was you were playing with a bunch of passive casual players who play any 2 cards cause they came to the card room to have fun (and folding isnt fun), ie all that limping. That said, of course Im in the privilege position of being in the cheap seats watching. Still, I dont always c-bet in that exact same position, but when I do, it's always for the same reason of clearing out the field to figure out what Im up against -the old skool "seeing where Im at" bet. I probably small c-bet 75% of the time... even if I had hit my ace in which case the bet is to give me a clue if someone might be on a draw incase the flush shows.

Pro is just so rare I kinda just left it out. The “safe” category is pretty general so I put nits in there

I'd caution against opening ranges and bluffing more if the action in your games tends to be more multiway. This vlog in particular, you just ran extremely cold. With some "fancier" play, it could have been really devastating.
In regards to your annual goals, this year is one long session. Squeezing in "one more hand from the vlog" is going to crush your hourly. Take the L for the session and muck the 87.
Hopefully, things will turn around in the month of July!
