Not true,at least seven units have survived on the WYNP shortline and there still is a certain amount PRLX CW60AC's in storage.Currently there is three CW60AC's in storage that are technically still on the CSX roster.
Was one I have cought quite a few AC44C4M's. Luckily I just cought a warbonnet not too long ago. so now I will not have to worry about scrambling to catch one of the last warbonnets in service.
The 6,000hp units had the 7HDL-16 engine, the 4,300-4,400hp units had the 7FDL-16 engine. The first AC6000CW units UP received were rated at 4,300hp and were dubbed the AC4460CW and were dubbed "convertibles" because they had the option to be converted into the 6,000hp version of the locomotive. The 6,000hp units were delivered afterward, since the 7HDL-16 engine wasn't available at the time the AC4460CW units were delivered.
I rember seeing a lot of those CSX ac6000s loved them so sad that they are gone I saw one of those UP ac4060cw and it reminded me of my favorite GE locomotive thanks for sharing
All of Union Pacific's AC6000CW's were rebuilt into C44ACM's...You can always tell by the exhaust manifolds on the rebuilt variants. The AC6000CW's suffered from turbocharger failures and crankshaft over pressure, including oil leaks or worn seals.General Electric didn't redesign the crankshafts and therefore the problems were never solved. It became mandatory to maintenance them every three months until Union Pacific decided to do the rebuild program. The AC6000CW's under CSX as CW60AC's were just derated to 4,400 HP from 6,000 HP but kept their original prime movers, designated as CW44-6's,and actually were reliable. Union Pacific still has them in service but CSX sold all of them to PRLX. Norfolk Southern at one point were leasing them from Progress Rail.
@@Slim_Slid redesign? derated? The only thing that was the same on a 7FDL and the 7HDL were the crankcase doors they have not made any parts for the obsolete 7HDL 6000hp for many years the old reliable 7FDL 4400hp is still in production today
@@applekohr13 None of that is news to me...What are you talking about? I can never get these (AC6000s and C44ACM ac6000 rebuild) leading out where I live! Although I did see a C44ACM going solo on Virtual Railfan once and that was it.
I’ve seen them in 2023
Ac6000cw = rip your train apart
Only if you have no clue how to run a train. I tan these units for a decade with no such issues
Awesome! I knew this one would be out eventually. UP is the only operator left of them sadly... The CSX ones were awesome. Great video 👍
Northern Ohio Railfanning Productions thanks so much, it’s good to know we will have these beasts around for another 10-20 years
I personally think the k3hl sounds better 🚂
I agree
Wasn’t the prime mover a 7HDL?
Yes, it was a replacement engine
Do a video covering the history of the 1982, 83, 88, 89, 95, and 96 heritsge units!
Don’t have the footage
@@unionpacificomaha You haven't caught all of them? On camera? What?
these are going form 6000hp to 4400hp?
Yes
Outstanding! I love those C44ACMs!
KC Railfanning thanks so much and yes they are
CSX's we're retired to PRLX in 2017
Later. They all got scrapped

they should be converted 5800 HP just like the Brazilian version ES58ACI
That would be neat
Another great video of Engines of Union Pacific! I definitely love the AC6000s
Steven KC Railfan thanks so much!

C44ACM 7329 leads the MPDOG into Ogden yard in Ogden Utah with radio chatter & milepost detector
I caught 7329 on October 1st that one & 6919 as well
Umm.....0:47?? Is that a *FORMER* UP SD70M? Why is it patched out???
I believe that wasn’t done by UP. I could be wrong
Nice video man....loved these! Heavier than the MAC.....thought so....
Thanks for watching!
I'm goin to give you a thumbs up
My favorite locomotive!!!
I always catch C44ACMs
On the CSX, most had K5LAs, but those Ones on the UP sound amazing
Northern Ohio Railfanning Productions Yea I figured and yes the K3HLs are amazing, very very rare tho
These GE locos are converted into 4400 HP. No longer AC6000, but they are now AC6044.
The rebuilt ones yes, but some still have the 6,000 horsepower
And the ones that got replaced to 4400 right away are AC4460s some of them kept the 6000 horsepower. They are all going to be rebuilt into C44ACMs
I rember seeing a lot of those CSX ac6000s loved them so sad that they are gone I saw one of those UP ac4060cw and it reminded me of my favorite GE locomotive thanks for sharing
