Battle of the Substats! Is 6% ATK Worth More than 9 Anomaly Proficiency?

- This video spawned because of a little competition between the wifey and I constantly trying to one up each other with our Jane Doe builds. I use the VR testing in Zenless Zone Zero to test out new drive discs and weapons. It gives me an idea of whether or not a piece of gear is an upgrade or not. This one I found super interesting because I thought the anomaly proficiency substat would out perform the ATK% but it did not.
Join in on the competition between Persephone and I!

Glad someone also thought to test this, don't see enough people realizing that her att stat is just as important as her anomaly. 380 is minimal purely for hitting 100% crit rate with Core Skill F, I only hit E since I have 410 that comes out to 98.5 crit rate. If you have F leveled it's really not worth putting more than 400 points in anomaly, I'd go for att%, it's gotten more way for dmg. I currently have 410 anomaly and 2439 att. Overall it's important to get anomaly AND att% on all disk if possible!
Yesssss! Anomaly + atk% is where it’s at! I just like doing these little tests to compare my gear. I know it’s not super accurate down to the calculations, but it just helps me see which disc / weapon does more damage for my particular unit.
Maybe at a certain point (like 400 anomaly proficiency) its better to just invest in atk%... Very interesting video keep it up!
From what I’ve heard it’s 375 AP once you have Jane’s core skill maxed out. I know after 420 AP she gives herself the max atk buff possible in the passion state.
I've got a ton of crit rate roll from substats, so I'm way overcapped on her aomaly profieciency... (At least from a crit rate standpoint)
Plus, there is also the extra 100 AP from Seth.
Since there is also the extra 1k flat attack from Caesar, I'm thinking of switching my third piece from AP to Crit Damage. (Especially since it should help not only with the anomaly damage, but also the regular attacks.) I will have to test it out later.
@@joaomarcoscosta4647 Unfortunately crit does not effect anomaly damage. Jane's kit allows her assults to crit, but that crit rate is based off of her anomaly proficiency and has nothing to do with her actual crit rate.
@@HazeyImpact Wait, really? That's really weird... Does that mean crit DMG is irelevant too, or just crit rate?
@@HazeyImpact Either way, thanks for the info!
Nice video definitely nice to test on your own which works best, but Id be curious to see how that difference plays out with teams (Seth Lucy etc) who give more buffs and start to saturate a stat. Running that comparison might have different results. Anyway nice stuff
This is a good idea! I can do this for sure!
I was at 410 AP (at 2280ATK) and recently pushed it to 419 (at 2190ATK). Been looking for another disc that can push me beyond 420 AP. The difference is pretty similar to this test, but the higher AP disc has the edge in Hollow Zero where we are blessed with an abundance of ATK% and Phys%, on top of the fact that I have a Seth to further buff Jane.
I would say it's nice to have a variety of discs for a particular build depending on the team we're running and if it's being run on Hollow Zero or Shiyu Defense. Great vid!
@@JinboiVA I didn’t even think about using different discs for Hollow Zero! But that makes a lot of sense! I have thought about the Seth buff though. Since he gives so much AP, and you can pretty much keep 100% up time on his buffs, is it worth it to keep stacking AP or go for more atk
@@HazeyImpactin a certain point, atk% is more efficient on dmg, cause... well, when you have 200 AP, every 9 ap is increasing 4,5% of your actual AP, but when you have 400 AP, 9 more is just a 2,25% buff... and since ATK % is always the same %, It is more efficient
@@KitKat-io1vx You could still say the same thing about atk% (the substat, not the combat buff) because it scales off the base attack stat which is a fixed amount so every 3% atk is also boosting atk by a fixed amount. The more of any stat you get, the less efficient it becomes. The difference is that combat atk% buffs scale off base atk plus substat/secondary atk stats so if you have a w-engine passive or 4pc disc effect that gives atk%, it will give your flat atk and atk% substats more value.
@@tastykimchiOFDOOM you're not 100% right there, yes, the more you have a flat stat, the less efficient it is (you are right here), but the discs and w-engines itself that has atk% doesn't become less effiient the more you have flat stats, but actually, the more you have the flat stats, the more efficient % stats become (unless penetration)... for an example, when you get 30% atk% increase, it will show on the stats like it was flat, and when you add more 30% on another disc, you will increase not just the base flat atk that your character has, but also will increase 30% of the another 30% (or 9% of your total atk) you already got...
410 is super overkill especially if you are using Seth+Rina/Qingyi. You can drop like 45 anomaly proficiency for 15% attack and you can get atleast 5% more dps. If you use any attack buffer with seth you can ignore this.
Now we need to see what number my Jane throws out
Yeahhhh we gotta do that lol
If you're upgrading ur core skill to letter F(which everybody will do) you will only need 375 AP. 420 AP if you cannot upgrade you're core skill to level F right away
Yeah I know, but to get her max ATK buff in the passion state you’d need 420 right? I don’t think it’s worth sacrificing good stats just for a slightly bigger buff while she’s in passion state though. It wouldn’t make sense.
You have to consider the fact that you will not always have a full 10 stacks from Forest Gourmet, likely only 5 stacks for 70% of the fight since it takes more than 10 seconds to get an EX (usually taking 12-15) seconds of attacking, meaning accumulated anomoly only has 20% extra attack buff for 60-80% of depending on how well you apply it while the buff is up (anmoly buildup is snapshotted per % applied, and calculated all at the end). Only time you can have full 40% bonus from a R5 Forest is if you saved and used EX special twice in a row before/at the start of a break to get the most out of it during the stun.
I've done heaps of testing myself with gemini and believe it is better, please go and try out weeping gemini. I am very sure it is superior in every away, and it really isn't as hard to manage as people say. Especially since it has full stacks much before bosses get stunned, ready for max use during a stun. Also, the attack bonus provide by gemini is usually already quite close always having 5 stacks of forest.
With characters like Ceasar coming out too, I can see more people using them together too, this makes having more anomoly even more better as there is supposedly a balance of ATT/EM to have less diminishing returns I would assume (this graph is available on Janes mains discord)
Yeah I know I won’t likely have max stacks on the rainforest. It was just a way for me to make sure the stats stayed the same each time. This is a great comment I appreciate all the insight. The only thing is Jane wants to get to at least 375 AP right? 375-420 and Gemini is an ATK% mains stat, but it gives AP in the passive so maybe it works out. I’ll definitely look into it. Maybe I can do a comparison video on the two. Thanks for the comment though I really appreciate it!
come on man,
you are comparing 2 rolls of ATK% (2 x 3%), to single roll of AP (9 AP)
Of course you will make more damage with the attack disk. The anomaly substats change the speed in which you apply anomaly, and the damage you make when you apply the anomaly. Anomaly substats are not applied to normal or charged attacks. The bigger damage of Jane comes from her assaults, attack is a good substat, but building anomaly on her is worthier than attack
The anomaly substat don't change the speed to apply anomaly, that's the main stat in disc 6 which is called "anomaly mastery"
at 420 EM it's better to go for atk%
You kinda have no atk on this build im at 3.2k with 320 anomaly , use Seth and ur over 420
Generally speaking, if you have more atk% you get bigger numbers per proc, and if you have more anomaly mastery you proc smaller numbers, but you see them more often
In this case.. What's the best main stats for her? I have her m0r1.
@@set7618 It might depend on your team setup, but you should be golden as long as you reach around 400 AP and put the rest into ATK%
I'm no expert though, so do take that with a grain of salt.
Wait, aren't you talking about Anomaly Mastery? I'm pretty sure Proficiency is a multiplier kinda like crit dmg is to crit rate, but Mastery is the rate in which you build up Anomaly
@@BluzRok46 ye i think the op was confused a bit proficiency means when ever u procs anomaly it does more dmg while mastery affects the build up rate which is more fixed compared to proficiency which u can get as substats
Uhm lil bro, ap doesn't affect ur anomaly build up speed that's called anomaly mastery
I have a disc in slot 6 with anomaly mastery, should it be ATK then? This is at C0 Jane. I heard at C2 Jane you can switch away from AM completely to ATK.
I would stick to anomaly mastery.
Even if you can get big assault damage with atk% on slot 6 the assault doesn't happen that often especially when fighting bosses.
If you want big assault damage but less frequent assault go for atk%. But if you want to proc assault more frequently but for less damage then go for anomaly mastery on slot 6.
I think overall you deal more damage with anomaly mastery.
What @znedmed6537 said is correct. I’m not sure about constellations / mindscapes on Jane though. If her cons give her way more anomaly build up then maybe you can forego the AM 6 slot. I’d have to look into it but I’m away from my desk at the moment.
