- BMW invited us over to an press event in Germany to get a first look at two very special X cars they have built.
This X5 Protection VR6 is taken off the production line and modified to be the ideal vehicle to transport someone in comfort and style, but most importantly a high level of safety.

As a X5 45e owner, it is the best vehicle in its class. I may need the BMW X5 VR6 protection so I can drive peacefully in Southern California. LOL!

What if they use Armored Piercing Rounds of 50 Calibers and above?
Then we have to opt for an armoured personnel carrier BMP
it will not stop .50bmg, for that you need protection level 13. The one higher is only 14, that will stop even tank projectile up to some limit.
This is basicaly only against pistols, and SMGs. I would not risk it even against AK.

as you can see, if you switch projectile type in AK, it will not stop even 7.62mm x 39mm from AK-47. You need at least VR8 to feel protected from AK. So "it will stop even AK-47" is white lie, completly advertisment, as when you use FMJ or AP ammunition, it will not protect you from AK-47. So basicaly when you see enemy with AK-47, you need to run away from the car anyway, as you don't know, what ammunition he's using.
