The Multiforce is actually a pretty decent tool, especially for the price. I think it matches up well with any Gerber or SOG I've ever seen or handled.. Sure it's too bulky and heavy for EDC, but it would be a good addition to a pack, go bag, or glove box. The best tool in it? The scissors. The worst? Definitely the file. It would be a great choice for someone new to multitools who doesn't want to spend $70+ on one.

Had to return the Bibury. The pivot screws kept loosening themselves to the point that the knife bladed became dangerous to use, even after using loctite
@Maxlvledc I've never had that happen. Used loctite blue and the screw kept loosening when you opened the blade. Almost like the loctite was grabbing the blade and screw together and loosening it.
I wonder if some of the wave's tool could fit the bibury. I mean like the saw and knife, scissors like those. Wonder they fits or not. I mean no parts for the bibury but you can get parts for wave
Personally I despise clones. I get that they are there for people who can’t afford the real thing but in my experience a $50 clone only gives me maybe $10 worth of quality so I always tell people to skip the clone and try to find the real deal used for clone price on ebay, especially when it comes to Leatherman or Gerber because of their excellent warranties
In many ways the multiforce has some improvements over the wave. But I agree that the warranty is top notch of Leatherman. The purpose of these videos is to emphasize that Leatherman must continue to adapt to stay successful.
I think it's sad that there are so many copies of the Leatherman Wave. It's the first and still the best of it's kind. Leatherman gets so much criticism, but they keep building quality tools and standing behind their product. The mentality of criticising Leatherman seems to me no differents when compared to the mentality that it is o.k. to steal a design (or someone else's work or intellectual property). Written in to the U.S. Constitution is protection of intellectual property and I know very few people will believe in that or fight for that. And, I will get criticised for personally believing in that idea.
Hi, I would like to do a plierless mod, do you know if the biburi wave clone has the same capabilities as the multi force? Since they pretty much look identical. Maybe you'll be willing to do a short video about it? Thank you for your videos
@@maxlvledc thank you for your reply. I just bought one on Amazon with the swiss+tech multitool (also budget friendly) to experiment and see if I can mix and match the tools. They seem to operate on the same-ish platform. If I can do something descent with it I'll tell you if you're interested.
The bibury looks really similar to my swiss+tech 17 in one. (could swiss+tech be just a rebranding for europe?) Fortunately for me I found my leatherman wave +, which I had previously lost. in Italy a normal wave + costs 170euros ($180!) I'll keep the swiss+tech one for testing and because it does look really sturdy for the price.
I notice now with some of these clones they're starting to charge more when you might as well put an extra few bucks for a legit Leatherman wave lol. You're 💯 right, even 35 dollars is pushing it compared to when the clones first came out at cheaper.
@@maxlvledc maybe, i didnt try. i find a lot of times when scissors are rolling over on softer material like paracord it's because the riveting is done improperly. but for $10 i just returned it, didnt really bother.
Got the Bibury for 24 dollars (had to buy one of their knives for 6 dollars as part of a bundle sale) and I really don't give a shit what you have to say hahaha. It's 24 dollars versus over a hundred for the Leatherman. So yeah, your point about why this review makes sense stands but I won't let you criticize my precious bargain deal. It ain't much but it's my first multitool.
Good review. I bought my first Leatherman in the early '60s and loved it. But time marches on, and Leatherman did not. I bought my son his first Leatherman in '94 when he graduated from Navy boot camp. But again time marches on, and Leatherman did not. Since then we both moved on. First me to a Victorinox multitool in the late '90s, then both of us to Gerber, which we still carry. I have a particular problem with replaceable carbide cutters. On hard wire, they don't just break, they shatter. I'll never have a multitool with carbide cutters.
I use mainly Leatherman, but recently also tried the Gerber ranges. I was quite disappointed with the mystery steel and clumsy scissors of the Gerber brand.
@@maxlvledc I have had replaceable cutters break on me when cutting hard wire. This problem does not seem to be unique to one brand. Every multitool has its advantages and disadvantages. The Gerber MP600 with one hand opening (OHO) fits my needs. When Leatherman makes a tool with OHO at a reasonable price, I will be first in line.
@@shastaham7630 awesome. The p series are easy one hand opening pliers as is the OHT. The speed steel cutters are industrial grade designed for cutting metal for hours a day...so they last a very long time.
Is it insulting or flattery......I don't think it's either,it's just people making money by filling the niche of half decent quality tools at ridiculously low prices that more people can afford. There is realistically no way on earth that leatherman,Gerber sog etc,etc are worth the difference in price that they are, especially if the tool isn't used in a professional capacity. I'm a maintenance operative on a holiday lodge park i can buy 4 Bibury multi tools for the price of the equivalent leatherman or Gerber......it's a no brainer really if the truth is known. Instead of slagging these copies off maybe we should be asking why the price of the originals is ridiculously high and encouraging the firm's that make them to be more realistic on their pricing rather than charging exorbitant prices for their reputation.
Are they ridiculously high though?? My leatherman wave in 1999 was $100 new...the price is actually less now. Btw, I still think multiforce is best one atm.
@@maxlvledc Well over here in the UK I can by the Bibury 21 function multi tool for just over £20......the equivalent leatherman is four times that amount......is the leatherman four times better quality.....I doubt it. Btw, the Ozark Trails multiforce does not seem to be available in my part of Canada...went to 3 different Walmarts and none offered it. Not sure if this is a Canada thing or just my area. Thanks for the review. 👍
Ok you need to keep the review to a reasonable length but only testing the scissors made this a very subjective review. i think you actually gave more pluses to the bibury even though you prefer the multiforce
I bought the bibury clone purely ooc. Needless to say the execution on design is absolutely terrible. Burrs on EVERY tool, worthless file that flakes off more "diamond coating" than filed matl, plier wobble, weak plier detent/resistance. For 30-60 bucks I recommend a secondhand rebar or st300 from ebay or a local pawnshop.
These are not Clones they are only lookalikes and Not all Leatherman parts are usa made. Just a few (10-5%) And there was a law suit over this misleading advertisement. Files were one...But anyway, Having a multitool for the tackle box, emergency kit, or in the pocket for occasional and light work is better than not having one. But to a trades man that work with his hands thats going to grip hard, twist hard, while gripping hard, ect.,,daily---for YEARS with the same tool,,or someone who wants quality, Comparing these 10-15$ tool to a Leatherman, SOG or Gerber is pointless, WHY? Because there is no comparison except visually. What about Precision and STEEL GRADE.. stainless just means it won't rust. Many grade of stainless.. Heat treating, forging and drop forging, tempering, so on and so forth with much higher grade of stainless cannot be done at that price point. But thats what the real players do and that why they would have to cost more and a true clone would be of the same build.. Be honest,, these are not clones they're lookalikes... all thats taking place is a visual comparison. And what good is that??? Walmart brand is famous for stripping the Phillips screwdriver and bending the straight edge, twisting the pliers on the first use.. Both of these none clones are nothing but cheap, made cheap with cheap material. They're only clones visually. Sorry and politely but your steering people in the wrong direction by thinking they're going to get the same quality with the word clone. In fact they are made as cheap as they possibly can be just as long as they sell. There is no comparing...
they are "clones" what your referring to I would call a knock off where they basically use everything even the names and text. And in what way did I EVER claim they were as good? At no point did I do so, if anything its the other way around. But there are some features of the Multiforce for instance I found to be BETTER than the wave, such as the scissors cutting ability and the full sized hex driver.
@@maxlvledc that's a nice way look at it or you could pay attention to the world and see the massive ongoing theft of intellectual property from american brands and others through out the world by chinese companies patent or not and be disgusted by it because thats the appropriate response to this.

After loctite?? Crazy. One of the benefits of that piece of steel between pivot screw and blade on multiforce.
@Maxlvledc I've never had that happen. Used loctite blue and the screw kept loosening when you opened the blade. Almost like the loctite was grabbing the blade and screw together and loosening it.
@Rick RangerBravo wierd for sure.
What kind of steel in the biberry blade?
I wonder if some of the wave's tool could fit the bibury. I mean like the saw and knife, scissors like those. Wonder they fits or not. I mean no parts for the bibury but you can get parts for wave
Hmm, I believe it can go from bibury to wave, not the other way. Also the bit holder will only fit the rebar.
Thanks. Well stated.
Picked up the 19 in 1 BiBury for $12! They are on flash sale for $29 plus your code $12. I can't belive it! Thank you!
really??
@@maxlvledc yes I kid you not! It's was on flash sale and I added you code and it came down to $12
How strong is the belt clip? Is it strong or is it weak and wimpy? Thanks in advance 🦉
I'd say strong enough, it's not flimsy
this thing is 30 right now on amazon. would you recommend this, or spring the extra 10 for the multiforce?
Hi, I would like to do a plierless mod, do you know if the biburi wave clone has the same capabilities as the multi force? Since they pretty much look identical. Maybe you'll be willing to do a short video about it?
Thank you for your videos
I don't think so, but maybe worth exploring!
@@maxlvledc thank you for your reply. I just bought one on Amazon with the swiss+tech multitool (also budget friendly) to experiment and see if I can mix and match the tools. They seem to operate on the same-ish platform. If I can do something descent with it I'll tell you if you're interested.
Are any of those Swiss made stainless steel 🦾⛑️🇨🇭🪖
Not that I know of
The bibury looks really similar to my swiss+tech 17 in one. (could swiss+tech be just a rebranding for europe?) Fortunately for me I found my leatherman wave +, which I had previously lost.
in Italy a normal wave + costs 170euros ($180!)
I'll keep the swiss+tech one for testing and because it does look really sturdy for the price.
yeah I think the swisstech is the same as daicamping and bibury
Can the bibury hold a 1/4 hex shaft?
Yes
149€ for the Leatherman Wave, at the german amazon.
I decided to buy the BiBury.
What tools do you need to work on the wave inspired multi tools?
I know my wave is two safety torx 10
Normal torx, I'll do a disassembly video of both clones.
@@maxlvledc thank you
This is amazing, as much as I love leatherman I tend to lose them after a while
Knock-offs are a way of telling the OG to up their game. If you're not in a hurry to upgrade, wait out for a new release
I notice now with some of these clones they're starting to charge more when you might as well put an extra few bucks for a legit Leatherman wave lol. You're 💯 right, even 35 dollars is pushing it compared to when the clones first came out at cheaper.
Any idea if you can drop thr bit driver from the multiforce in to the wave or charge?
Not in those no..rebar and st300 yes
@@maxlvledc do you have a video of the rebar mod? How many tools does it take up?
I should be sleeping but I just love your videos! Keep it up!
🙏 thanks!
i got unlucky, when i got my bibury tool the scissors could not cut a damn thing. had to return it
Which one?
@@maxlvledc the 16 in 1 $10 tool
@@EDCObsession mine was good, but I'm not surprised it has inconsistent QC at $10. Can you sharpen the scissors to improve it?
@@maxlvledc maybe, i didnt try. i find a lot of times when scissors are rolling over on softer material like paracord it's because the riveting is done improperly. but for $10 i just returned it, didnt really bother.
Really great video with some comparable alternatives to the Leatherman Wave.
As much as I love the Wave, its hard to spend $200 + on the Wave or Wave+
@Druidic I think I meant to say $100+. In Canada, they are typically $150 or so
@Druidic Yeah exactly. And if you want the bit kit, or even pocket clip that's extra. At least for the wave.
Hahaha, no judgment here!
Your in luck, you can replace them with speed steel cutters that will never break. Expensive, but worth jt
I use mainly Leatherman, but recently also tried the Gerber ranges. I was quite disappointed with the mystery steel and clumsy scissors of the Gerber brand.
@@francoiscoetzer9920 frankly they all need a swift kick in the junk
@@maxlvledc I have had replaceable cutters break on me when cutting hard wire. This problem does not seem to be unique to one brand. Every multitool has its advantages and disadvantages. The Gerber MP600 with one hand opening (OHO) fits my needs. When Leatherman makes a tool with OHO at a reasonable price, I will be first in line.
@@shastaham7630 awesome. The p series are easy one hand opening pliers as is the OHT. The speed steel cutters are industrial grade designed for cutting metal for hours a day...so they last a very long time.
They might look good bu
I like the bybury
thank you
Thanks for the video 👌
I just lost my leatherman charge two days ago and I'm absolutely gutted,I used it everyday for one thing or another so I'm now looking to replace it......for just over £20 the Bibury is looking like a decent option at the moment.
@@neilgutteridge6405 woww!!! Yea then by all means get that Bibury!
Got the multiforce at Walmart today for 13 dollars
Whaaaaat???? How???
@@maxlvledc in the display cabinet it was sitting on the stand labeled for the 13 dollar ozark trail one. Told them I wanted that one they brought out the 13 dollar one I told them that one was different I'd take the display one so they let me have it

Great review Maxlvlec. A bit disappointed about the scissors. For those of us in Canada this is a good option. Btw, the Ozark Trails multiforce does not seem to be available in my part of Canada...went to 3 different Walmarts and none offered it. Not sure if this is a Canada thing or just my area. Thanks for the review. 👍
If I can find a link to Amazon Canada and the EU. I'll look for some options you can get. Keep reminding me
@@maxlvledc thanks
Ok you need to keep the review to a reasonable length but only testing the scissors made this a very subjective review. i think you actually gave more pluses to the bibury even though you prefer the multiforce
If leatherman finds this insulting, they have a lot of explaining to do to TOK
Checkmate!
Oh, yours was a really bad one. A good example of why it's better to buy the Leatherman. Thanks for sharing!
That is no clone. These were products that put leatherman to shame.
Save more money and buy a real leatherman, not the cheap chinese made knockoffs!
Broke: whats the best wave clones
Woke: whats the best pst clones 😎
Ahhh. Good question...nothing is better than a PST 😉
Not even joking...By the #s the PST is the best multitool ever made...more functions per gram than any other plier based tool ever made.
@@maxlvledc well said
Don't support the for profit left of intellectual property.
It's expired..this is natural progression
@@maxlvledc that's a nice way look at it or you could pay attention to the world and see the massive ongoing theft of intellectual property from american brands and others through out the world by chinese companies patent or not and be disgusted by it because thats the appropriate response to this.
