Hariharan Saab has an uncanny ability to infuse life into any labz of the shayar with the exact feel, as depicted in the kalam of the shayar, owing to his mellifluous voice and inimitable style of gayiki ! What is more heartening to note is the fact that he has been striving hard to carry forward the rich legacy left behind by the great Mehdi Hassan Saab and has been able to get a foothold in the process ! I feel -- Hariharan has got the right credentials to become one of the few successors to the style of gayiki pioneered by the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ! He certainly needs open-hearted support from all quarters in his noble endeavour to popularise Ghazal Gayiki through the length and breadth of the country and beyond ! --- Amarendra Borah, Former Commissioner and Secretary, Finance Department, Govt Of Assam (India).

Here in this ghazal, " Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka Mujhe shosta Koi Air Hai," Hariharan Saab has displayed beyond reasonable doubt how this ghazal could also be rendered in a style strikingly different from that of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ! It is always a better option to have one's own individual identity than being a mere carbon copy of someone else! In saying so, I have absolutely no intention to cast aspersions on the gayiki of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ! There is absolutely no dispute over the fact that the great Khan Saab was without parallel in so far as ghazal gayiki is concerned ! He had given ghazal gayiki a pedestal which will be difficult to surpass! Infact, the great Khan Saab was the ultimate in ghazal gayiki! To be very true, the great Khan Saab was the GHAZAL SENSATION OF THE CENTURY AND BEYOND ! In this ghazal, the Alaap and Swargam both in low and high notes was a treat to listen ! Moreover, Hariharan Saab was also able to display a glimpse of 'kharas' which deserves to be applauded ! Those detractors who use to question the dearth of 'kharas' in the voice of Hariharan Saab may kindly listen ,think and ponder and decide for themselves the actual state of affairs ! What a beautiful composition it was! How soulfully did Hariharan Saab perform it ! It is heartening to note that whatever Hariharan Saab has attempted till date, he could do it with such finesse and perfection ! The discerning music lovers expect many more such marvels from this wonderful performer in the days to come ! Hariharan Saab's emergence on the Ghazal Horizon of lndia is the next best thing to happen after the Emergence of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab ! He has the right credentials to become one of the successors to the great Mehdi Hassan Saab's style of Ghazal Gayiki !

Perhaps, the accompanists in tabla(Sadab Saab), Harmoniu (Aslam Saab) and Sarengi ( Liaqat Ali Khan Saab) had contributed significantly in making this ghazal a gem ! They had supplemented and complemented with Hariharan Saab so well ! In saying so, there is absolutely no intention to belittle the contribution of Hariharan Saab, as the prime mover ! Hariharan Saab is Hariharan Saab, after all ! What a beautiful translation it was ! It was as good as the original URDU ghazal, if not better !
Hat's off to Kulkarni Gururaj S Saheb for this wonderful gift ! Needless to say that It will go a long way in helping those listeners like me, whose mother tongue is not URDU, but use to keep a keen interest in ghazals !

That said, the sarangi player is good. Perhaps Hari ji should come better planned with him and give him a 3 minute slot in a couple of long ghazals. Hunar dikhana to sabhi chahte hai. Sarangi Ustaad is also a genius.

Infact, music is universal in its appeal and is all -- pervading in its domain ! It has no boundary, barrier, language, race, or religion ! GOD, ,'THE MERCIFUL', also communicates with 'HIS MINIONS' through the language of love alone !
