What a national treasure Ray Charles was in spite of the Southern racists he still managed to provide Georgia the State Song and Na tional Anthem America the Beautiful-true talent can not be stopped.
Ray was brilliant a d I still cry in my very quiet moments at his passing but please let me meet him on the other side , at my passing away , God Willing
The bass player is too almost like they are wanting to mess up the songs and same with the horn section and yes ray does so good to cover it all up with his genius and passion but good thing both singers are so amazing they can make any shitty back up band sound amazing even tho how much they tried to mess up the songs and I bet they still got paid good too but as musicians we have to play through these tough nights like this to really appreciate our talents abilities and skills and make us better players and know how to deal with difficult musicians as well so my hat goes off to all the musicians that just keep playing wonderful music even tho times are tough but it’s all because we love what we do and nobody can touch that or take it away take care god bless and stay safe
@@joelwest6525 I agree 100% that drums and bass are untight , sometimes way ahead of time , not together with Ray and so on - but what is the hornsection supposed to do , but try to follow the "rhythmsection" ? - it's not fair to blame them !!
Thanks! I had worked out Estella, Trudy and Dorothy, but wasn't sure about the other two, as I don't think they were in the group long, and don't appear in as many photos or videos as the others. And while this isn't my favourite version of "I Can See Clearly Now" (no-one tops Johnny Nash's original), this is my favourite "America The Beautiful", and it easily beats the version on the A MESSAGE FROM THE PEOPLE album.
Ray "the bridge" Charles
the only artist to date that bridged - blues, jazz ,big band, gospel, soul, pop
into one meal for the soul
My two favorites, Ray & Gladys, together! LOVE!

America The Beautiful should be the national anthem (but only Rays' version)
Vote!

Classic and never gets old, Ray and Gladys, timeless, timeless, timeless.
This is wonderful, timeless and ageless
I love these two oldies but goodies
No one can sing American The beautiful: like Ray Charles. Mr Ray Charles gift to George.
I totally agree with you on that and he sang it like he meant every word of it too.
It doesn't get any better og100
Great singers of the future will be compared with Ray, but they won't even come close to the genius.
Beautiful
Dam the Lady can sing!

Worth the camera rolling.

If you had a prayer that wasn’t answered on this night, I think there’s a safe bet God was distracted by this performance.

The drummer was really fucking up if you're a musician you'd realize it
Yeah, the drummer is way ahead of the beat. At 5:44 you can hear Ray lean over and say ”Play it slow!”

@@joelwest6525 So that’s not his band.
I thought his band always backed him up. 🤔

Raelettes' Harmony (L-R):
Deborah Gleese ? - First Tenor (First Soprano)
Estella Yarbrough - Second Tenor (Soprano)
Trudy Cohnran - Contralto (Alto)
Dorothy Berry - Bass (Tenor)
Linda Sims - Baritone (Alto)
Edited: July 26, 2022...
Dorothy Berry...not Gwen Berry.
Four-Part Harmony:
Top (First Soprano): Deborah (maybe?)
High (Soprano): Estella (for sure)
Middle (Alto): Trudy (for sure) & Linda Sims (maybe?)
Bottom (Tenor): Dorothy (for sure) & Linda Sims (maybe?)
Two treasures. Ray was the best to ever sing the blues.
