    For Valor Longsword, you'll definitely want to use the *Unhinged Spirit* Hunter Art when you get Longsword to Valor Mode. It basically allows you to continually use counters without worry so long as the Hunter Art is keeping it at max level without depletion, and it's more reliable having unlimited Spirit Gauge than the single use situational Hunter Arts.

      When it comes to dodging his forward-stabbing wing attacks, if he uses his left, dodge into the direction of his right and vice versa; same for when he does the ground-slaps. For the ground stabs, either dodge into him or the direction he does his normal claw warning in.

    • @LoncusZhao
      @LoncusZhao 2 года назад

      That's pretty good advice. I'll have to try that out. How long does Unhinged Spirit last for? And does it give any additional buffs? (like Attack or Affinity)

      @fromhl7619 2 года назад

      @@LoncusZhao that art I find better with guild although I doubt you have ever used guild style, for valor you only need a tiny bit of gauge for using the guardpoint, Sakura slash is more consistent than the critical juncture and if you already are confident with valor and know very well the monster you are fighting the best option imo is devouring demon, it also feels great and you cannot fail

    A quick tip: you still have all of your moves with the LS when you don't have the valor gauge full, just go into valor stance and press the fade slash input for example and it should work

  • @Kay-Dawg
    @Kay-Dawg 3 года назад +7

    my tip: try using deviant weapon (wud recommend silver wind, drill tusk tetsu or hellblade) , they charge you're valor and hunter arts gauge faster, also unhinged sprit provides unlimited meter for its activated duration, hope it helped
    if u need a hunting partner do farm some stuff i think most of us will b down ^^

  • @fromhl7619

    13:12 the roar comes from the head on valstrax, usually it comes from the body on many monsters, but others like lagiacrus don't.
    One way you can hit the chest with crit juncture is facing from his side to the arm which is a decent hitzone, but despite all that, I wouldn't use valor LS for this hunt

    Hi Uno. I really enjoy watching your videos going though MHGU. Having survived G-Rank thanks to valor long sword (and adept great sword and Valor charge blade) learning to counter with the long sword can be a little tough.
    First and probably most importantly, learn the monster’s attack pattern. Pay close attention to the monster’s stance before it strikes since the big damage is the counter attack.
    The most reliable way I build meter is to use the x button attack after going into valor stance. It will build both the valor meter and the spirit meter. Make sure to completely fill the spirt meter asap for the affinity boost and the meter won’t decrease unless you use a spirt attack for about 30 seconds but I may be wrong on the time.
    The valor counter itself is really good in that it doesn’t decrease meter, but the two follow ups will. You probably figured this out already, but the spirt finisher is the same as adepts. The big difference however is that the valor finisher has a lot less end lag and you can fade slash immediately afterwards. Speaking of fade slash, you can use it outside of valor mode by doing the valor stance x+a with the directional input but I don’t recommend it.
    The valor counter is super versatile. It can block direct attacks, roars, projectiles, and even tremors. What it can’t block are multi hitting attacks, beams, and gas attacks. Make sure your standing in front of the attack as you can’t counter attacks from behind. As a side note, critical juncture can block roars.
    If you’ve read this far, I wish you luck on the rest of the game and happy hunting.

    In valor style with the long sword... You can also do an instant counter attack on the monster by pressing the right bumber. You can only do that when the monster attacks you. You have to find the right moment to press the right bumber. Whenever you see a little white star when you do your bumber attack... thats the moment you would go for a counter attack. Think of it as a mini critical juncture. Hope these tips help!😁

  • @Planag7

    As far as Valor goes, only speaking from the great sword, I usually use it around the time where I can tell that they'll either be a little poor or a pretty strong attack as it is very awesome to have your meter built up and then get those fast third level charges.
    Glavenous would always get punished once my gauge was full!

  • @blackmark2899
    @blackmark2899 3 года назад +1

    My tip with Valor is that it promotes and rewards aggression and knowing ques. Be aggressive to build your meter, use the valor dodge to get out of situations that would see you be hit, and use your counter whenever you see the wind up for an attack. Valor lives up to it's name. It promote valor in battle. Pick your battles and be aggressive in the battles you pick.

    I can't tell either if he's faster in GU or we're just so nimble on Rise, I am glad however that in Rise they seem to have made up by giving him tons of aftermath dragonblight small explosions and seemingly more tracking hitboxes

    • @Xzeros
      @Xzeros 3 года назад +2

      In Rise it is more aggresive but its attacks are more paused, here in GU it attacks in an almost non stop rate..., so far MHGU Valstrax was the first and only monster who made use Dash juices...

    I wish rise difficulty was like mhgu. Any solo quest for me is about half an hour. Rise is a few minutes. Mhgu makes you think carefully about your moves and how you use resources. Still one of my favorites. Good hunt!

    if u have enough meter to do a counter. U can counter while ur weapon is sheathed by standing still and pressing R+x
    should help u out in a pinch
    also make use y+R which is a sheath to an attack. The 2nd attack to this is the advancing slash in the valor spirit combo which is good for closing gaps

    No real Valor tips that I can think of that aren't just common sense.
    But I do have a tip for GU Valstrax specifically: when he flies up to do his Comet Crash, make sure you don't superman dive next to a wall; He has a lingering hitbox on the crash that'll still hit you right after you finish the superman dive animation

    Tips: Stay on bottom you just staying bottom you can have more opportunities to hit more and never go distance because he's going to whoop yo ass that's why stay close as possible. Don't spam dodge when he's going to hit 1 dodge is enough on most of his attack.

    The graphics are getting better, so they usually do cutscenes with the in-game graphics, but I really miss these CG cutscenes as well. I wish they would at least keep the traditional CG opening for Rise.
    These openings, especially the base MH4 one, always get me hyped up for the hunt, meanwhile in Rise we’re instead immediately greeted by Hinoa and Minoto’s singing, which are lovely, don’t get me wrong, but it’s definitely not the kind of Monster Hunter intro I want…
    I also booted up GU the other, which I could still easily adjusted to the slower and more methodical pace, thankfully, but I need to relearn how to use the weapons all over.😅
    It’s such a joy to visit older locations and see the large varieties of weapons and armours, in which when I had a good look,I think I prefer the normal Valstrax armour than the Crimson Glow version… I feel they went a bit overboard with the red parts in the armour to fit the Crimson glowing theme whereas the basic one has a better balance between the silver parts, black parts and the red parts. I also miss the male gunner armour, it looks pretty badass as well!

    The Spin is in this Game, at G-Rank.

    You don't get to even think about G-Rank until you fully go through all of the Low and High Rank Hub. Seriously, Village is easy mode for babies mode. Good for grinding out parts, especially once you unlock the Advanced Quests that have weaker versions of High/G-Rank Monsters, but until you get there the Hub is the way to go.
