This is the only song I can remember from this time period. I must have been three years old and my parents used to play the 45. It wasn't only like another time, it was like another planet. My memories from back then are all in black and white for some reason. Perhaps because it was before color television.
"La Dee Dah" is a song from Skate or Leap Your Voice!, sung by Micah Solusod and Laura Bailey as Soul Evans and Maka Albarn, who were being forced the duo in front of everyone.
This was film or very early tape. The A.B. clip is a kinescope. Poor quality to begin with plus it looks like a copy of a copy of a copy. The Seventeen clips are decent quality.
Watching the video again you'll notice that most these kids are doing the plain rock-n roll steps. Some are doing a somewhat version of the Cha-lypso very badly. But then again, at least they were dancing.
Some...of the fashions in the 50's and early 60's were pretty cool but NOT the really ugly frames on the glasses a few of the girls were wearing. Yikes.
1:09; love that girl's appliquéd skirt with the saddle shoes! The most '50s thing I've ever seen
I remember those days and dress. I miss those days.
God were these kids so fresh and clean-looking - not like we were back in the hippie 60's!
Yep...#MAGA
I love watching this...a bit before my time so it's fun to see the kids dancing and what they were wearing.
+coyotesong glad you liked it!
This was at a time that local television stations had dance shows patterned after "American Bandstand ".
The Song Landed on the Billboard Top 30 List on 1/6/58, Peaked at No. 9, On the List 13 Weeks!
Bellissima e coinvolgente !!!

A subconscious effect of the imagination!
I f i'm not mistaken the group in the background is "The Halos" who also had some hits on there own. Thanks for posting!
I think those were the fun days
This is what Rockabilly is all about!
Sorry frank, that song was just a pop hit back in the day but certainly NOT rockabilly!
I was mistaken, it was "The Thunderbird's" Billy's former group. Sorry about that.

When America was GREAT! No tattoos, polite, well dressed.
Yep. These kids dancing to the music of black artists and no black kids allowed in the studio.
Um…yeah…

This song is an obvious cha cha but most of these dancers are oblivious to this! AB dancers would know what to do with this song!
A mixture of hipsters and squares.
They were kids giving it a whirl.
Definitely not American Bandstand dancers
Obviously these kids didn t know how to cha cha cha

Credit to the kids for trying!
