I admire how Ganz and the crew petrayed Hitler not as a some sort of demon or monster but as a normal human being which is scarier knowing what this man did yet during some scenes you find yourself feeling bad for him for some odd reason especially close to the end of the film same with Joseph Goerbles and the other characters
When he's portrayed as a demon, you don't feel any shock. When he's shown as a human being, it's scary. It's scary knowing that humans can be like this.
There's actually a lot of comedy they cut out, they said it just didn't sit right with them how cherry he was randomly and it messed with the flow how he would be jolly then enraged.

He is still a monster in this film. You see how he refused to let anyone left the bunker? You see how he blamed the ordinary German people who caught in this war especially during the late siege of Berlin 1945? Yes he was a man, but with a twisted thinking.
My grandfather was in the SS Latvian legion, he survived through the war, the Soviets captured him, put him on trial and was sent to a labor camp in Siberia. He died in frostbite, hungry and hopeless. Only remains what were found was his photograph of him and my grandmother. My grandmother passed away some years ago and I found the picture at the attic, and I laid it to her grave in Riga, hoping that she would find peace together with her husband. I think none of us Europeans don't want this same thing to happen ever again! A horrible conflict, not just the war but the post-war prosecutions continued for long time.

Ganz portrayal of Hitler was such that at times when I read about the war or hear stories about him on documentaries, I picture Ganz acting out the scene before realising its not the real Hitler.

Not only Hitler, but most of his generals underestimated their enemies, and lost the war because of it.
