- This was a little personal project of mine. I wanted to try and make something in the horror genre. "Alone" is just an experimental project based on a simple concept.
This was a collaborative effort! no one was paid for their work and we shot this on two separate Saturdays. The cast and crew are all students and volunteered their time to help with it. Not everything went according to plan, and this should have been completed a long time ago but life got in the way.
Huge Shoutout to the ladies of apartment 1507 for letting us use their home and making it too scary for them to sleep in.

As someone who wears glasses, seeing her get up and look around the house without putting her glasses back on really took me out of the film.

Definitely got me on the jumpscare! I couldn't tell if it was a shared apartment or dorm, but it made it more believable in the regard that the vibes changes when you realize you are alone. As someone who is a homebody, it is a very real feeling. Loved when the music just stopped when she turned off the light for bed.
Besides the not locking the front door, not turning on the phone light when she heard the scampering, and not panicking when she felt something reach out. It was good, just think it would have been even creepier if she had done those little things and still something was wrong.

This was absolutely amazing. I watch a lot of horror shorts and I'm usually let down. But this got to me. It plays on a real fear of a lot of people. The camera angles were splendid, the quiet and lighting were spectacular. The overall vibe was incredible and I definitely jumped a few times. I've taken classes on videography and this deserves an A+ I want more people to see this.

Excellent film! For a short horror film it’s very scary. Especially when the hand grabbed her arm when she was closing the laundry room door.🧟♀️

This was one of the few short horror films that actually got me scared. It was nicely done and i really enjoyed it.
This film is incredibly well made. More than with most films of similar length / concept / scares, "Alone" reminds me of much of what I love about the old Val Lewton films. It's in the pacing, the use of the apartment's architecture, shifting/oppressive darkness, etc. Majorly chillworthy.

Yes, that's called a "jump scare." It's a device used in cheap amateur horror movies to make easily scared people "jump."

I liked this short film! I liked that it felt a bit experimental, as you write that it was. I like the use of lighting, how you used the sound and how you built suspense. I was genuinely creeped out and scared. I love the camera quality. And I really like the simple concept. Well done!

These are the ones that scare me the most. The things in the dark you cannot see but they can see you. Things look different in the dark. Great job. I freaking jumped and that's the kind of scare I love.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like it when ghosts follow proper etiquette and haunting behavior. To the protagonist - I'm sorry for what happened to you, but that ghost got you fair and square. You belong to the ghost now. No complaining.

aahhh, but she wasn't alone after all now was she? maybe a better title would've been - "You're Never Alone." production values were excellent! everything from photography, to editing was top notch. the little stutter effect at the end was perfectly placed. the only flaw (and i'm nit picking here) is that she wouldn't have gotten out of bed without her glasses. thanks for spooky film!

EDIT: OK..I really liked it! Well acted! The production was great! If I had one ;, it would be the typical "generic" ghost girl right out of central casting.

Dialogue must be really hard. So many of these shorts have no spoken words at all.
The editing felt like it was done with a chainsaw but still built the suspense well and good jump scares.

Decent short horror. The lack of dialogue adds to the atmosphere. My one criticism is the use of the Ring style ghost that seems to be almost literally everywhere these days. Judging from the movie, you easily have enough creativity to come up with your own unique ghost.

In filming class we’re doing suspense short films. Our teacher showed us this as an example. Everyone in the class screamed when the hand grabbed 😅

Amazing sound work. Really got me tense, even after all these horror shorts I've seen and got used to.
Lights were on, lights were off. TV turned on, she turned it off. Then it's ghost time!
Loved when the camera pulls in on her face to see her expression, though I do wish her expressions looked more horrified. The "boom" noise, heavy bass, was a bit overused. I would have loved to have heard natural sounds and less boom/horror sounds. If this girl is alone, I want to feel like she's really alone, so it would have been nice to hear floor creaks and just the silence of an empty apartment. Also, a lot of cut to blacks for some reason (01:24). Overall, though, aside from my critique, I thought this was a good attempt at the horror genre. Keep it up.

Robert McGhin Not that I know of. Tbh, this was reluctantly released. We never filmed everything we wanted and the originally planned ending didn’t work, so this is just the version we settled on.

How come the actress had no reaction? I screamed when the hand grabbed her but she just calmly walked through the dark after THAT?? It was good but the actress took away from what could have been much more tense and scarier.
Interesting use of the quiet spaces in between sound or action.
i know that feel, im living alone, sometimes i hear strange noises and the shadows looks exactly like 2:10 and i turn on the lights and i see there is nothing xDDD

What could have made the ending more scarier is of the doorknob stopped shaking.
