Boba, like his dad, has always been the shoot first, ask questions later or never type. It ain't until his days with the Sand people that he learned what it's actually like to have a family. He knew how to lead a squad at best, & even that, he's doing it like just a boss. This time around, he wants to actually rule like he's the head of a family instead of that of an army, & if you wanna do something like that, you CAN'T just kick down doors & shoot people just because they don't like you or you don't like them. Furthermore, it's also clear that he never once saw himself being at such a position before in life, & that means for someone like him who's always just doing his job shooting people, has trouble grasping the line of when to shoot people & when to talk.

When I watched BoBF for the first time, I always had that inkling that was somewhere on the line of "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness" sort of feeling from Boba.
Of course, I still think he talks too much, but the way he's intending to rule is VERY similar to what former Mobsters say their hierarchy worked.
For example, if the Mob needed to whack someone, they didn't hire a hitman to do it for them, they simply ask one of their own and they'd do it out of respect.
No rewards, besides earning their own kind of respect for a job well done....IF it was done well. That respect alone would allow them certain privileges that can't be bought or safely taken, only earned and given.

Been saying this for a while now! Boba's approach is opening up doors for him that a typical crimelord would never have. Constantly contending with rivals and the risk of betrayal is a business cost -- by offering loyalty, and encouraging it in return, he reduces this cost and sets himself up for future gains. Moreover, his approach ensures he will eventually know where he stands with the other power players on Tattooine -- those unwilling to work with him once he's successful through respect will eventually be enemies no matter what, so he'll have them isolated and clearly in his crosshairs.

I don’t think honor was a thing to the Mandalorians for most of their time. Sure the Mandalorian Jedi with the Darksaber kept the Mandalorians in check after their crusades, but with the exception of the True Mandalorians, the Mandalorian Protectors, and the Mandalorian rebels from both of the civil wars in the Clone Wars and Rebels, I feel that Mandalorians on the most part don’t care about honor and just want to focus on conquest and the kill. No offense to Sabine since her clan is a part of them, but most of House Viszla with the exception of the Mandalorian Jedi, Clan Wren, and the Nite Owls are just vicious. Guys like Bo-Katan, Din Djarin, Sabine, Boba, and Jango seem to be in a minority for Mandalorian society.

He wants to build trust and have people be loyal to him, rather than fear him, which will lead to resentment, others challenging his rule, conflict and death. If Boba's way of running the crime family helps them put money in their pockets, they're less likely to oppose him, or try to to take him out.

In may cases governments like the Galactic empire benefit greatly from the violence around them and ultimately need to create it, he violence justify their own abuses and over reaches. For the hive of scum and villainy the Empire was the best thing for them as their action benefited the government in justification for their own actions that they were effectively allowed to run amuck.
But for governments like the New Republic this kind of violence and lawlessness undermines their authority. The Republic has an interests in making things, or at least making it look like, are rather peaceful and safe. Action like what Boba use to do and what Djarin was up to can attract their attention, then theirs the risk that what you did was significant enough to warrant actual action.
The hutts' have the advantage of having a safe haven like Hutt space to run back to if anything goes really wrong, exactly like the twins did, but Boba dose not have that advantage. He runs he loose everything he worked for, if he even can run at all like Djarin learned.

Machiavelli said it is better for a ruler to only be feared than only be loved (if the choice is one or the other), but he also still said that the best outcome is for a ruler is to be simultaneously feared and loved. Boba Fett seems to be trying to do both. It's a more difficult path (something Machiavelli also pointed out and why he advocated for the fear only approach in "The Prince"), but if successful it can be worth it.

I think the criticism of his strategy of ruling by respect just comes out of how much of a disappointment he is when it comes to fighting and generally not defending his interests properly if Fennec isn't around to move things forward.

He has grown past his criminal background ( like Han ) working for Jaba, and now having a different approach much like Michael Corleone in the Godfather ( a film a lot of new Star Wars fans probably haven't seen even though it's one of the most classic films. )

You bring up Tsun Zu, but Boba's strategy also works out fit the Machiavellian principle of the Perfect Ruler when viewed in tandem with Fennec's attitude. Machiavelli thought that in order to be the perfect ruler, one should not be overly merciful at all times, nor should you be a bloodthirsty tyrant. Rather, you should measure your response by the situation and employ whatever means necessary. Boba offering respect and mercy works great as a general strategy, but having Fennec to take down those who slight him is what truly makes his criminal empire effective.

I think something that’s often never mentioned is that Boba style of ruling seems more in line with Mandalorian tradition. It may not be very obvious with how Mandalorian were often quite ruthless whenever they ruled but it does make sense when you considered the more honorable and respectable traditions that Mandalorian upheld and how it seemed especially fitting to what Boba is attempting.

As seen countless times, power attracts jealousy. Eventually there will always be a bigger fish. When that day comes, will you be replaced (quite possibly through infighting that further weakens your organization and legacy to nothingness) or will your people fight to bring you back to them (and in your absence band together to ensure the survival of your legacy)??? Therefore I feel that one should obviously rule through respect vs fear.

I think bobba Fett applying some Mandalorian ways to Tatooine. it defantly has a large whiff of Mandalorian about it. To the recruiting of your captives to behaving like a military officer and doing everything yourself and attempting to keep order and discipline. to Also not interfering in some fights like he led the old Wookie rip the Trandoshan's arm off. He also was willing to risk dying extremely painfully and retraumatize himself just to get his armor back. Also Bobba holds no hard feelings for his enemies except when you take his armour or ship. That's pretty Mandalorian right there. There taught not to hold grudges . Also yeah the Mandalorian way has survived more or less for 10k years but it's nearly been destroyed alot of times. Once or twice possibly more the jedi had to intervene to save them. Including Once by Revan. Starting to look like Luke or Ahsoka might intervene to help them at some point considering what the empire and the sith did to them. The mandalorien's are in no mood to forgive. and that is apparently unusual for them. The sith have survived for a very long time to. I think way longer then the mandaloriens have. The sith have changed alot tho. with the new cannon being built idk if they survive or not after Return of the Jedi because it's starting to look like the sequel trilogy gonna get ignored and de canonised which it should. The woke inclusive racist and mysoginistic garbage needs to go back to the cesspit and outa star wars.

He's doing everything that Machiavelli would advise a prince ought to do. He outmaneuvered the other crime syndicates by appealing to their self interest therefore ensuring that they will not betray him and he prevented the pykes from having other allies. Sure he could be sadistic but what would that accomplish? He would have been creating so many more enemies. I really think that Boba Fett will go full Tywin Lannister against the pykes, that would be the strategic thing to do in order to secure himself and his new crime family. I really think that we will see his own Reynes of castamere moment

🤔 . . . What about [Justice]? That the only time you should be fearful & afraid is when you’re caught with your hand in the cookie jar, that you committed a murder & you’re going to receive a punishment for it; that its not the higher authorities you should be afraid of, its who stares right back at you as you shave, brush your teeth, and/or applying your mascara, in that order (for the idiots who aren’t diagnosed with any disabilities and/or disorders, i.e. neurotypicals, who aren’t getting it, its yourself you should be afraid of)…

I'm surprised how many people are weeping over the fact that Boba's building a stable state over Tatooine instead of going guns blazing and massacring everybody. I don't think many fans understand that to rule, one needs to create a patronage system and loyalty. This is how dictators or absolutist rulers govern and maintain power. They form a support base and prop themselves with it. The rapid conquest and you just rule from their strategy has never worked, and if it somehow survives, it is short-lived. The writers for the Book of Boba have done some impressive research regarding how a Daimyo would rule the planet and build a believable political backdrop for Tatooine.
