    @Bunny I stopped in MS (Jackson to be exact) a year ago with my grandchildren driving from TX to GA. We got a hotel for the night in Jackson. I asked for a ground floor room. The desk clerk asked me if I "had" to have a ground floor room and I said "well no, but I would prefer one" He said well, M'am I really don't want to put you and those children in a ground floor room because it just is NOT safe. It made me really nervous staying there but felt much better since I felt he was looking out for us. I told him how much I appreciated that.

      I feel as though there are a lot of people in this area that have the same sentiments. And I appreciate that they are looking out for those who are traveling through this area because they are more aware of the day-to-day operations of what happens. I’m glad that in your instance they did that as well.

    My mantra for my road trips is always “Commit to plan B”. Sometimes that expands to plan C,D etc.😉

      @BunnyPlaysHere  5 месяцев назад +2

      That is a great plan of action because you never know what is going to happen along the way I try to share that over and over so that people can understand that just because things don’t work out the way you think they should doesn’t mean that they don’t work out sometimes it just means that you get to look at it from a different perspective

      It really is one of the more important parts of travel just in general, but especially if you’re traveling in a vehicle that you also are staying in. There’s lots of challenges with various styles of travels. If you stay in a hotel sometimes the accommodations are not up to par, sometimes they don’t match reviews or sometimes there’s creepy people there… If you’re camping in a tent, sometimes the weather doesn’t work out or the pads are not great, but you’re sometimes you have to figure out things hard when it comes to where you can and cannot stay especially more recently. This has been changing a lot.

    We live in Memphis and we’re just talking about all the crime in Jackson.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  5 месяцев назад

      We learned a lot of interesting things whenever we were in the Jackson area… For example, one of the things that we thought was extremely strange, was the fact that they have large billboards all over town talking about syphilis… If you were ever there, they are very obvious because the word is huge and we had no idea why so we even had to google to find out… Apparently not only are they well known for crime but they also have a higher than average STD rate in the Jackson specific area, but also in Mississippi across the board. A lot of that ultimately has to do with the poverty and the lack of healthcare so it’s interesting that you learn about a place that you never expect to see.

    Agreed about Mississippi roads! I live in Florida, so I have to drive through Mississippi every time I head west (which is often because vanlife is harder in the east). The roads are awful!

    There is a rest area with the Pocahontas Mounds area near Flora that I have stayed in a couple of times. They have nice bathrooms and security overnight. It is kind of loud with traffic and train noise, but I like it. Looking forward to the Petrified Forest video. I haven't been there yet.

    I wonder how so many food establishments can stay in business. 🤔 They, along with most retail, seem to be deserted whenever you go in. In CA, we have building after building that are shuttered, blighted, derelict. No business, no shelter, nothing going on, while people in tents seek food and shelter, water and electricity, every day. I have a really hard time, mentally, trying to "enjoy life," when every day brings a new struggle to overcome the daily chore of surviving. It's always something. And, it's not just me. It's hard to maintain to maintain a good, stable state of mind, and peace. Bunny, don't gloss over the importance of being able to face and deal with struggles along the journey. The buzzword is resilience, flexibility to bounce back from adversity. Walking 10,000 steps a day gives us time to reflect on how we are going to achieve the same thing again, tomorrow, the next day, and our unimaginable future.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere

      I think it’s really important to keep apositive attitude. I used to always worry about the things that I could not control and in doing so all I did was stress myself out more and more every day. The fact of the matter is if we allow ourselves to let the negativity or fear cloud our minds, what happens is we start to live in a scarcity mindset. However, if we look at things from a joyous perspective, it allows us to live life a bit more fully so that we can see the beauty and the small things. For example, I have seen a lot of crisis in my life when it comes to people who I know not necessarily having the best quality of life or also in many cases, passing away far too early. Knowing those facts can really become super overwhelming and can send you to a very dark place however, one of the things that I learned was that by seeing the simple joys of day-to-day life and celebrating those, I am living authentically, and also taking time to understand that life can be so much much more than most of the time we see it to be. When in doubt we had the opportunity to wake up today, some people did not… So it is our responsibility to live life unapologetically, and to make sure that we try to create as much joy not not only for ourselves, but also others. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot of negative out there. There are terrible things happening every single day and we aren’t just glossing over those, but we have to make sure that we protect our mindset because if we do not, we are no good to anyone including ourselves.

      Yes and no…. My goal is to travel with my dad and also maybe have a friend to join me at some point however I don’t mind traveling by myself. I’ve done it for so long for the first three years of my travel I was completely alone and I never really saw it to be a problem. I enjoyed myself. I was also very safe and I just made sure that whenever I moved into the mindset of doing so that I really was proactive and making smart choices.

    Not all Cracker Barrel‘s are safe zones… a year ago five heroin attic’s surrounded my car and tried to open every door and break into the windows. All at the same time I jumped in the car started the van, and just drove out of the parking lot at 2 AM! This was in one of the richest cities in the county I was in! Cracker Barrel has no security and even though they let you spend the night they’re not responsible for anything that happens to you either even if you buy food from them. Letting you spend the night is just a legal courtesy. Not a safe place at all sad to say.😢😮

    Hi Bunny
    How do I plant trees by walking?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  5 месяцев назад +1

      The app Treecard can be installed on your phone and it links up with your activity monitor on the phone itself to count your steps. For every 10 steps that you walk they plant a tree on your behalf. So long story short you download the app and then just start walking and then check it about once every day to see if you’ve hit the threshold and then you just claim the tree, and it automatically shows that you have contributed one tree to the Treecard project. a few times a month they do an overall collective count and donate toward the planters in various regions and they plant trees. There is another feature on there that allows you to see how many trees have contributed and also see what is called a tree island where you can set up your own little trees and plant them on your island to give you a visual representation of how much that you have done. It’s kind of fun.
