ای غنچه خوابیده چو نرگس نگران خیز
کاشانهٔ ما رفت بتاراج غمان خیز
از ناله مرغ چمن از بانگ اذان خیز
از گرمی هنگامه آتش نفسان خیز
از خواب گران خواب گران خواب گران خیز
از خواب گران خیز
خورشید که پیرایه بسیمای سحر بست
آویزه بگوش سحر از خون جگر بست
از دشت و جبل قافله ها رخت سفر بست
ای چشم جهان بین بتماشای جهان خیز
از خواب گران خواب گران خواب گران خیز
از خواب گران خیز
خاور همه مانند غبار سر راهی است
یک ناله خاموش و اثر باخته آهی است
هر ذره این خاک گره خورده نگاهی است
از هند و سمرقند و عراق و همدان خیز

دریای تو دریاست که آسوده چو صحراست
دریای تو دریاست که افزون نشد و کاست
بیگانهٔ آشوب و نهنگ است چه دریاست

این نکته گشاینده اسرار نهان است
ملک است تن خاکی و دین روح روان است

Muhammad Iqbal (Urdu: محمد اقبال; 9 November 1877 - 21 April 1938) was a South Asian Muslim writer, philosopher, and politician, whose poetry in the Urdu language is thought by many to be among the greatest of the twentieth century, and whose vision of a cultural and political ideal for the Muslims of British-ruled India was to animate the impulse for Pakistan. He is commonly referred to by the honorific Allama (from Persian علامه ʻallāma, "very knowing, most learned".)
Born and raised in Sialkot, Punjab (present-day Pakistan) in an ethnic Kashmiri family, Iqbal studied in Sialkot and Lahore, and thereafter in England and Germany. Although he established a law practice after returning, he concentrated primarily on writing scholarly works on politics, economics, history, philosophy, and religion. He is best known for his poetic works, including Asrar-e-Khudi-which brought a knighthood-Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, and the Bang-e-Dara. In Iran, where he is known as Iqbāl-e Lāhorī (Iqbal of Lahore), he is highly regarded for his Persian works. Iqbal was a strong proponent of the political and spiritual revival of Islamic civilization across the world, but in particular in South Asia; a series of lectures he delivered to this effect were published as The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam. A leader in the All India Muslim League, he envisioned-in his 1930 presidential address-a separate political framework for Muslims in British-ruled India. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, he was named the national poet there. The anniversary of his birth (Yōm-e Welādat-e Muḥammad Iqbāl) on 9 November is a public holiday in Pakistan.

@@ShAkbar-lk4bc being born is something else he was a true kashmiri blood and he mentioned that in his poetry and prose. Tell me which Punjabi poet was fluent in speaking Persian more than Iqbal because his family was kashmiri and at that time Persian was widely spoken language in Kashmir valley and still Iran is more close to Kashmir in culture than rest of Pakistan and central Asia except Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
So being kashmiri isn't a negative thing.
@@ShAkbar-lk4bc and more importantly butts living in Pakistan still call themselves Kashmiri, because Kashmiris are different in intellectual, Skin colour, traditions, clothing and culture than Punjabis I love Punjab but calling Iqbal a Kashmiri makes him more valuable in Iran

@شایان زارعی fact: Iqbal lahori was actually not from Lahore he was Kashmiri and he love Kashmir a lot and used to cry for his father's land. His second most favourite place was Iran and his all poetry revolved around Iran. And believe me every Kashmiri's favourite place is Kashmir and the second one a kashmiri loves the most is Iran.
And you can't imagine how much I love Iran especially Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Tabraiz, Karamenshah, Mashhad, Qum, Zanjan, Rafszanjan, Zahidan, Bam, Tehran, Namak Abrud, Kish Island and every inch of Iran.

صداي خوبي داري البته واقعا درست است كه ديوان اقبال توسط يك پاكستاني خوانده شود ولي استاد سروش خودمان كه ارادت خاصي به اقبال داره نيز شعرهاي اونو خوب ميخونه

اقبال لاهوری از قوم تاجک استند. و مثل چند میلیون انسان تاجک پارسی زبان در پاکستان. افتخار پارسی زبانان است او به لسان اردو و انگلیسی و آلمانی. کاملان مستلاد بود. روحت شاد باد
