Oh yeah!! You got it buddy. It worked up 👍🏽. Kudos on the angle discing. No one does that anymore. In the old days we used to disc and/or spring tooth harrow diagonally for an “ultimate leveling experience”.
Both tractors did a great job. You don't have to go the full depth of the spike but you can. The spikes are reversible. Once you get them wore out on one end, turn it over and you can wear the other end out. This shortens them, so you really can't go by the spike being completely buried for the depth. I agree, yes the SMTA didn't have Hytran when it came out, but it's a lot better for the Torque Amplifier. That can be proven because the 460, 560, 660 TAs seem to stand up better than the older ones and the primary difference is the oil. Yes we may pull more shanks than you but you're going in 1 H. We pull in 3L. Big difference. The extra speed makes up for the smaller cultivator.
That field really worked up nice. SMTA worked great, no surprise. I've got a 14' IH No. 46 disc I pull with whatever is available starting with WD 45's and on up. They play with it as does the 400. If I ever get the 450 going, it will probably pull it in fourth gear.
That was awesome. They both really sound great and did a great job. Thanks for sharing, and ignore the haters. Most of them don't have a clue anyway. See you later.
Back in the 1950's, our old Case CC pulled an old disk. Not knowing any better, we double disked by running one half of the disk on previously disked soil and the other half on undisked soil. We also pulled a homemade sled with rocks in it behind the disk. The soil was smooth.
We had three different shovels for our digger . Like the ones you have on now we called points . We would charge to what we called Beaver tails ,that were about twice as wide maybe more . The third we call sweeps , they were twelve to fourteen inches in a V pattern . Those were used for working up the fields in the spring and keeping the weeds down in the fields that were not planted that year . Plus we would work in manure from all the different farm animals from the winter barns , and corrals .
Excellent video Geno :) , yes both tractors also machinery implements they work out for best too and very good to! Though may had leak on hose Geno :) but didn't want scare you and but lucky to find were too !
Seeing as how the 826 has more than enough power to pull your chisel, you might want to try twisted sweeps. They will turn and cover twice the ground. You might really like the difference. Just as well use that extra power. Have fun!
Dig deep in your pocket for those big hoses. I have a super MTA that needs those supply and return hoses. Im saving my allowance.😂😂😂😂😂😂its not the hoses that are expensive, its the fittings.
Your tractors were both purring like a kitten...Nice!! Having a little residue left up on top of the ground sure was nice to see...making a good field for you this time!!
I'm a "H" fan myself! I learned first on the Cub than moved to the A, it wasn't till I got on the H that i was plowing and planting with-out some adult watching me. Besides, I can close my eyes and hear the Transmission on the H and it takes me home.
@@FarmallFanatic I swear we had that same disc when we farmed back in the 80s. We pulled it with the super 88 Oliver diesel. Dad retrofitted a turbo for it. He also changed out the back wheels for 18.4×38. Fluid in the tires and boy did that sucker hook up in the dirt!

I disked 105 acres for a family last week that had a medical emergency come up. They had chisel plowed with those twisted shanks and it tore heck out of the dirt(lot of clay) and made it tough on the biceps on those dry clods. Are you going to do beans on that after your done working it? Those redskins sure do like getting exercised, right? Be watching for planting day, Bill
I guess 1370=13.70' and what green in the field? Some of the Rippers/chisel plows have a wear plate just at the bottom and the shank is exposed to the soil (like a scarifier but bigger), and what plow goes more than a foot deep? The guys I saw in the south had to use a big ripper for water drainage but they break up "hard pan" with it, another guy only uses a 5-6' disc to break ground, it works and is faster than a roto-tiller, so give the guy a break, something will be growing there soon. Your disc would probably give you 6" of loose soil to plant in, do it your way and don't give those people a second thought! It's always the guy "doing something" that's wrong. After 20yrs in a truck I'm kind of lean toward diesel power, nothing wrong with gas but diesel is just great! Nice video!
Farmall fanatic, was there any advantage in chisel plowing vs moldboard plowing for you ?? What is your opinion, because it appeared to be some what of a rough ride doing your secondary tillage. Remember this " FARMALL THATS ALL"
You can hump a field allll up if your disc is not set correctly from front to back. Lots of my neighbors orchards have the middles wallowed out from having the front gangs sunk too deep.
Ya bro the 826 was playing with that chisel plow for sure but people who criticized the M for struggling a bit are not being fair plus not understanding old iron
No sharpshooting intended: if the chisel plow points are say 10 inches long with a point on each end, would that mean its intended depth is 5”? Are you supposed to bury the whole point? I ask because wouldn’t that wear both ends at the same time? I have never chisel plowed so I have no clue. I always err on the side of deeper is better than not deep enough when I’m working ground so I’d probably run it as deep as you are but I’m genuinely curious.
@@FarmallFanatic what you’re saying makes sense to me, and I agree the bottom point would definitely wear more than the top. Like I said, I’d rather bury it deep than be too shallow. Either way looks good behind the 826 😎
You've got great soil over there. What are you planting? Soy and Corn? You get much less criticism chisel ploughing than you do with moleboard ploughing.😂
When you chisel plow you should not go the same way you are going to plant because your other equipment will follow the chisel plow shanks. To find the width on a disk count the number of blades across the front and multiple by the spacing between the blades and divided by twelve and that will tell you how wide you disk is .
But if you ever do sale the A you need to do one more thing before you sell it put that 8 ft disc you got behind and see what does a kind of a goodbye story for the A
No one can pick on the Super MTA. It will go toe to toe and beyond with anything built in it's time. The only thing that might come close would be an Oliver super 88 and she's rockin 2 more cylinders.

Yes, but not above the shovel where you are wearing out the shank itself. I realize you can flip them over.Just because I didn't say it doesn't make me wrong

That Super M-TA and IH disk make a good pair. It probably pulls the disk a little better than your old M did, with the bigger engine and all.
Yeah it does
Beautiful mta! Handles that disc like nothin!

Nice touch in your editing, where you import the natural sound of the tractor into the drone view, real nice,
just the way Pete does it :)
Yeah, even though I did it first?
Which is all verifiable
Well done! Your GPS a/ b line off a bit😂 But you did well overall. LMAO. Love the video 🍻

There was one spot where I did

Dust and hot sun 🌞
I use a chisel and disc myself. I pull my chisel like you said for depth, works great for my fields. Love pulling a disc. Love your videos. God Bless.

Just me,my preference. Disc it,6 to 8 inch rollover, cultimulch, plant. Lets go,lets grow.

Lots of my neighbors orchards have the middles wallowed out from having the front gangs sunk too deep.
I keep them level for sure
Best I can tell from the footage this is a 44 blade disc with 7 inch spacing. 370 and 37 disc operators manual calls this 12 foot 11 inch cut width.
So basically 13'
It takes a well tuned super mta to pull a disc that size that well.
