Thanks again Pip! All your sponsors should not hesitate to sign up for the next VG with you. You have been the most exciting and inspiring sailor to watch in the fleet!!❤ Safe sailing sailor.
35+ knots of wind on a jury rigged storm jib with 5.5 metre waves breaking into the cockpit - "unpleasant" could be the understatement of the year. This is turning into the stuff of legends. Crossing everything for you Pip.
2 weeks ago I didnt know who you are. Today you're the only competitor in the race Im rooting for. Fantastic work, never giving up, keeping a solid atittude. When you do taste victory in the future it will feel better for all the challenges you've overcome.
I am not only in awe of your adventures ( this Vendee and last), I am also in awe of your ability to describe what you're experiencing. Cheers Pip from an admirer in NYC!
Pip, you are the uncrowned queen of this Vendée. Your passion for sailing, your perseverance, your humour and your ability to take us through all the ups and downs of this journey are great. Thank you for that. You know the words of the "Irish Blessing": may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face". Good luck for the last miles.
This is turning into an epic tale of human endurance and resourcefulness. The Vendee now appears to be a frivolous side show. You're the stuff of Legends...Pip Hare.
Brave Pip, good on you, you are doing great and we hope you can handle whatever the weather will throw at you this night! You are almost there, you can already smell it😊. Isn't it nice, people from all over the world are having you in their thoughts and are caring for your wellbeing. Stay safe, best wishes from Germany 🎉❤😊
Godspeed dear Pip. It is morning in Germany, your video was posted 12 hs ago so we do hope the worst is over and you're rewarded with good winds to Melbourne. ❤
That smell is bushfires in The Grampians in western Victoria. They are still out of control and have burned a substantial area of bush. That eucalyptus, woody smell is real! Big south westerly kicked in last night, so back to cold winds this morning.
Pip you are a hero and my new idol! After working so hard on this project you lose your mast and cry for a while to come back with a smile and make the best of the situation. You are a true role model for all of us! 💕😀😄🇸🇪
As stated by others, this part of your 'sail/race', is far more relatable than the race itself, which is of endurance and keeping the boat at maximum performance, within the limits of the yacht itself. Having the challenge of problem solving to this degree and overcome the issue of losing the mast, is fabulous. The boat, being as good as it is, and not being (now) in danger of sinking through the mast holing it; the batteries and solar functioning as well as they are and allowing good comms, is such a testament to good engineering, and being able to "OK, we'll prioritise 'this' 1st, then 'this'..... There's not an algorithm to follow. Many 'yotties' can follow this, and feel personal empathy, as they'll have had similar but less terminal problem solving in less extreme locations!
What a pleasure to find every morning the incredible adventure you live! Thank's a lot for sharing your actions, your life and your feelings. Hope you got the best track to Melbourne.
Don't worry Pip You are doing a grand job. We have postponed the handing out of the slow boat to Melbourne Cup by about 3 days. Just make sure you turn up!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Your videos are so entertaining! Love watching them. However, I do appreciate your hard work and your amazing optimism. You are such an inspiring sailor. I wish you all the best and that the incoming weather is not too bad.
Pip and Boris are the only interesting and charming sailors to follow this time. Well done both! Unfortunately with most skippers only speaking french does not make it interesting to follow them for many of us.
Hi Pip! Good to see you are ok and doing well. Hope that the bad weather and bad see doen’t cause too much problems. Keep going, brave woman, you are almost there!🤞
Dear Pip, I‘m German and I kept my Fingers crossed until your Mast brooke, Boris. I only watch your Videos and the live Tracker where you are. What you do is more exciting and great than the current Race! I wish you a safe arrival to Melbourne! Keep your positive attitude, it‘s so impressive. 👏
Loved watching you preparing Medallia for the strong winds and big seas predicted - proper ‘seawomanship’! There is absolutely no point in waiting until the storm hits. And you keep smiling which makes your army of followers smile too. Yours has been an epic battle which will be writ large in the history of not only this Vendee Globe but of all Vendee Globes past and those still to come. I hope the conditions won’t be too bad for you but the main thing is to stay safe. Bravo brave Pip!! 👏💐👏💐👏💐
I had a similar olfactory experience while sailing 150 miles downwind of Hawaii. The sweet smell of flowers wafted in on light summer trade winds. You're gettin' there Pip
absolutely love following Pips adventure and tit-bits of emotions and inspiring insights - wish her the most deserved safe and warm welcome at Melbourne
Bravo Pip pour votre exploit exceptionnel,il y a des milliers de fans qui vous attendent à votre arrivée 👍💨❤️vous devriez être élus la sportive de l’année 😍
Hi Pip. We are with you in this adventure. Hopefully the winds will cooperate. Thank you for this report. Tacking with your rig has to be an event. John USA
Pip, you are utterly astonishing. I'll wonder all night how you're doing and will pray to the sea gods to respect your courage and fortitude as much as all of us do.
Great Vlog 😊 crossing my fingers and I feel pretty sure that you will tackle the next big challenge and stay positive. Australia is within "smelling distance" 😂👍
I love this series Pip. 1.5 years ago I didn't know what an Imoca was, then RUclips decided i should watch Boris and Team Malizia race in the Ocean Race and I got interested in offshore sailing. I started watching this VG cheering for an ever increasing number of sailors in the race, I admire you all for doing this test of endurance. When you dismasted however, the first thing every day I check is your posiiton on the tracker and hope that you'll upload a small video. Only then it feels right to watch the race again. Be safe we are all cheering youb on
17 - not great but could have been worse. Love to hear you can smell land, so close. Take care in the nasty sea state coming, we are all thinking of you.
Compelling viewing Pip! Best of luck for the nasty weather. Really interesting to see your attention to detail, to reduce the risks. Thanks for continuing to inspire! Best wishes from NZ
I am sure you have scented all Aussies putting the Barbi on to whet your appetite. Alternatively you have been talking to the Albatross too much. Safe sailing and I will be thinking of you until tomorrow - you are an example of 'Can Do' to all and more cared for than you can imagine.
Omg, Pip! You are adorable, fierce and a Total Warrior Goddess Baddass! I just discovered you thru my husband who is a huge Vendee Globe fan! Cheering for you from New York! And here I am, whining (yet grateful, of course! 🙏) about the hassle of the holidays, the non-stop cooking and doing my best to keep the Christmas Magic alive with gifts and joy and a pretty house and making everyone else happy. Oh boy🤦🏻♀️! Seeing you put my life into a new perspective! Lol! Total respect for you and I wish you all the glory! You got this Queen! 👑💪🏼❤ Can't wait to celebrate your land arrival!
Another great episode on Pip TV. You most likely are smelling Eucalypts and it must be such a thrill be smelling land despite your lack of progress overnight. I can't help but admire the confidence you have and how brave you are doing this in the first place but with catastrophic failure of your mast you're amazing. We could all do with some of it. Watching from Las Vegas, USA ✌️
Pip , your adventure is the first I look on my daily follow up of the race. You are great , fantastic attitude, it is a real pleasure to follow you, and yeas, the most interesting and human part of the vendee globe, keep it up, looking forward to your arrival in Melbourne, in time to celebrate the new year🎉
Am watching the Sydney to Hoiabart race at the same time ,two dead already and a number retired and this young lady is just carrying on , amazing . Best wishes for the final few days ,not going to be any easier I suspect .
Hi Pip, thank you again for this video ! Quite exciting to hear you explain your plans and the difficulties with the winds and sea states ! I hope the breaking of the waves in the cockpit will be ok after all what you have arranged. Bon courage for the 8 - 9 hours with these conditions !!! all my support ! 💓💪🧸Catherine de Paris
You are amazing Pip and you are in for a hectic time but no trouble to you and you are so positive. I do worry . I have to say this why isn't anyone coming to your aid? You are in my prayers.
I started following your adventures when I saw your video of the passage around Cape Horn three years ago when instead of technique or wind and speed you shared your emotions. I enjoyed your presentations on the dock when you presented the boats of your competitors and you spent nice words for each of them. Now after the bad experience that happened to you, I see you smiling and full of energy inventing a race within the race that manages to polarize many fans who follow it more than the real race. I think that is a beautiful race where the best compete on technique and forecasts but yours is the real adventure. I was wondering since you raised the first sail what would happen if the sea had started to rise from the stern and with your low speed it could be very challenging but I see that you are prepared and are waiting for it. I await you smiling as always in your video tomorrow morning and I hope you can rest at least twice for a quarter of an hour in this challenging night. sorry for my English, I do it better in Italian
Hello Pip So far, so good ! Tomorrow : just another day to the next : Melbourne .. and the day after : Sydney .. and the day after : Writing us a novel : ' VG2024 : My magic journey to Oz '
You are a legend Pip, we are all sailing with you there, so keep smiling. You will be on dry land soon, but you will remember this little adventure for a long time, maybe not the dismasting part though.
Dear Pip, you are such a brave woman and an exceptional sailing professional. I learn a lot from your videos. Especially for the stormy weather you are facing, I am praying for you and keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. I am very excited myself and wish you the very best. God bless you. 😊
Been watching the slow journey and you're getting closer. It's soo crazy that you can smell land from the wind being soo far away. There is a Syndey hobart boat that has a blind crew member and he smells the wind .
Thanks again Pip! All your sponsors should not hesitate to sign up for the next VG with you. You have been the most exciting and inspiring sailor to watch in the fleet!!❤ Safe sailing sailor.
she is
In the previous VG she even fixed her rudder!!! ruclips.net/video/T3bXtpOwlno/видео.htmlsi=Kk0iAq4l-AqLYHN6
Guess I’m not the only fan of sailing for whom this jury-rigged adventure is much more interesting than the race itself. 👍
you are right :)
Funny, I just wait for this. Can’t even tell you who is the leader. You are so right.
This very interesting to me . I fine her a very interesting sailor and it helps for in to be in English
Absolutely! A lot of people are tracking Pip’s arrival here in Australia.
Is there a race going on?
35+ knots of wind on a jury rigged storm jib with 5.5 metre waves breaking into the cockpit - "unpleasant" could be the understatement of the year. This is turning into the stuff of legends. Crossing everything for you Pip.
This is very well recognised

"ability to describe what you're experiencing ! " 👍 Yes indeed, and we can really share it then !
NO, its you and a thousand others. Pip’s report is the first I look at when I get up in the morning. She is amazing.
Comme les choses sont étranges, slow boat est devenu le plus intéressant de la course.
Bravo Pip qui ne lâche rien.

Hang in there Pip. You’re my hero!
Bushfire raging in western Victoria, perhaps you can smell the smoke
my thoughts exactly - the smell of a bushfire travels a looooooong way
Pip and Boris are the only interesting and charming sailors to follow this time. Well done both! Unfortunately with most skippers only speaking french does not make it interesting to follow them for many of us.
Wishing you all the best in the circumstances. Be safe!... as much as you can.
Good luck through the night, Pip! Can't wait for tomorrow's report!
I used to think I was brave, but you're a class apart!! What an inspiration!!!

Thanks for posting and sharing Pip. Looks so rough, and taking down the sail!🫣

Best wishes from Berlin, too. Amazing job you are doing out there all alone on the very handicaped boat!! Cross my fingers 👍

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to do these videos. Thinking of you whilst that wind rips by.

We have bushfires around Melbourne!! That’s the smell!
BIG bushfires.
Loving the updates Pip…sail safe 🫡
Hi lady Hare,
Thank you very much for your videos on slow boat to Melbourne.
You can’t imagine how admirable I find your attitude and „work“ on your „crippled“ boat.
Sailing solo myself sometimes (in way easier conditions) I maybe can slightly imagine some of the tension you must feel…
I wonder wether you are wearing a lifesuite and a lifevest when working on deck?
I wish you will…
Take care and I hope you can enjoy the incredible special moments you are exhibiting right now, even if you planned otherwise - only really special people have the „guts“ (excuse my poor English, Lady) to get into your position!
All the best for 2025, and I hope to watch some more of your adventures in the next years !
Cheers, Andreas
Ahoy Pip,
hoping it's a good morning for you and made it safely thru the night,
Yes that sure was a eucalyptus blue Gumtree breeze you could smell,

Beautiful amazing sunset Pip you are so fortunate to be out there 🌺😀🙏 I know what you mean when you mentioned the smell of land after being so far out to sea for long periods…
Pip I have started documenting your preparation plans for loosing a mast down in the southern ocean and what is possible when a yacht is disabled so far from emergency services and also the Navy Australia owes you one hell of a party…… hey you know there are more people following you then the Sydney to Hobart race 😂 your sailing folk lore now baby 😊
Remember Peter Blake may he RIP a wonderful bloke and great Yachtsman/conservationist lost there mast on Ceramco in the Whitbread round the world race 1982 and finished 3rd under jury rig… the yacht was later sold and renamed CASTAWAY i crewed on her in the Hamilton Island Series in the Whitsundays in North Queensland…Powerful boat ……. Grit and Grace under pressure! All the best 👍 .... Looking forward to the next update 😊
Hey Pip. Learning so much from your adventures and resourcefulness. Loving the understatement about the conditions!
I can't help but admire the confidence you have and how brave you are doing this in the first place but with catastrophic failure of your mast you're amazing. We could all do with some of it. Watching from Las Vegas, USA ✌️
Pip , your adventure is the first I look on my daily follow up of the race. Great jod out there, calm, reasoning, planning ahead. Experience helps a lot. I hope Pip will make it in Melbourne very soon.

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow! God speed!
Keep going Pip, love your slow boat updates!
That must have taken some effort rolling that sail in those conditions. Melbourne awaits you!
That wind was ripping! I'm glad you got your new sail down OK.

That smell from Australia is a large bushfire in the Grampians area of Western Victoria. 70k+ hectares torched thus far.
Praying for a safe night, Pip!
Hello Pip
So far, so good !

Pip your smile and your joy I will miss because you will arrive in Melbourne I think, you won the Vendée globe of the heart we love you ❤
Keep safe Pip, you and the boat... 💪
Love from Canada, what an incredible journey you are ok ❤
Stay healthy for the night and all the angels should help you through this storm.
Good luck and more❣️❣️❣️❣️
Almost here Pip, keep coming and hoping to see you arrive in Melbourne before we have to return home to Canberra on Monday....
Good luck Pip. Hope you make it Melbourne soon.
