Questions about Replacing Fuel Filter: 1) Why is it that one doesn't disconnect the battery when replacing the fuel filter but when replacing the fuel pump, the battery has to be disconnected first. How often does the 7th Generation Corolla have to replace the fuel pump? 2) Do those 3 copper washers come with the new fuel filter, or do you have to order them separately in addition to the fuel filter from Toyota? Do those 3 copper gaskets have special names and part numbers so I could order them online? 3) Do you have a video showing the proper jacking points for 7th Gen Corolla (or 95' Corolla) and how to properly remove the left front tire to get to the bottom side of fuel filter and fuel line? Once I remove the left front tire, will I see and have direct access to the fuel filter without removing anything else? 4) I couldn't see and didn't completely understand the necessity of the special 14mm wrench in loosening the bottom of the two nuts connecting the lower fuel line that couldn't be accomplished with two standard combination wrenches. Is that special 14mm wrench called a crowsfoot wrench? 5) Potential tips/tricks for making the reconnection to the lower L-shaped fuel line with the mini-copper washer to the new fuel filter easier in a tight wet dark place: Loosely wrap a string/rope around the fuel filter or use a long stick/ruler/extension bar or chopsticks to help maneuvering the bottom of the new filter in position on top of the copper gasketed L-shaped lower fuel line more easily and precisely. 6) When reinstalling the throttle cable, is there a specification on the tension of the throttle cable for 7th Gen Corolla? I am looking to clean or replace the PCV valve on my 95' Corolla DX before my state smog inspection, but after googling and searching for months, I still don't know how to locate, test and replace it on a 95' Corolla. Could you help?
You are a GOOD teacher. You show the actual way of changing the fuel filter. One point for you. It sounds like you have an accent. Please understand that I am belittling you for my understanding of your home language is much better than mine but here is a hint: When you are explaining how to remove a bolt MOST OF THE TIME we refer to it as turning bolt COUNTER CLOCKWISE or when tightening you turn it CLOCKWISE. Think about it as you look at a clock with numbers and hands that point to numbers...if you are going from 12 oclock to 6 oclock, That is Clockwise and if you were turning from the 6 oclock position toward the 12 oclock that is COUNTER Clockwise...Hope that this hint helps you. I think it's a good idea to change both fuel filters at the same time, one on the fuel pump (inside the fuel tank) and the one in the engine bay. This way you just disconnect the power from the fuel pump and run the car untill it burns all the fuell in the hoses and filters, so you will don't have to deal will all that fuell running out of the hoses.
Is a 2003 Corolla fuel filter positioning the same as shown in this video? Hard to get to? By the way.... you are very good with the camera angles. Excellent job sir.

im often told unless there is something wrong with engine performance or fuel usage on a gasoline engine no need to change filter. could you cut open one of those filters you take out after 90 000 km and cut them open to give us an idea how dirty they get when using normal clean fuel?

Hello Peter, do the original filter have the little gasket on the entrance of the filter? I tried to close the lower threaded bolt with the little gasket put carefully over the fuel line,but as i start the engine there's a remarkable leak,so i removed the filter and i saw what happened. The little copper gasked wasn't bent simmetrically and this is not good....also i tried the procedure without the little copper gasked and i noticed a minor leak...My AE111 fuel line has a concave shape,instead the fuel filter has a convex shape. Why should we use a gasked in this situation...maybe because of materials used for the junction..Now i have a ruined gasket and a leak..Any advice?
Peter Finn i did it 2 times without the gasket...maybe i should only tighten it a little bit more, by using the hexagonal wrench i should buy....is the gasket necessary down there?

Questions about Replacing Fuel Filter:

Hi, the gasket in must. Otherwise you have the leak. The fuel pressure is so hard.
