(Armor piercing) can not puncture the hull of a ship H.E. rounds are often used as artillery pieces such as in the d-day landing they were used in the bombardment of the German pillboxes (H.E is a general term for a high explosive rounds they can also be used in tanks as anti-infantry rounds)

There was a ton of damage under the waterline of that thing, and it just continuously kept getting more because of the enemy fire of course. Guess if they managed to disable the main gun of that enemy though, they coulda stood a chance at saving the ship if it has bilge pumps to bail water. Ship damage in Stormworks is fairly realistic in terms of how there's no HP bars, there's only good hits and not good hits (if only airplane damage was any realistic though...). If ya wanna destroy an enemy ship, you gotta go for right below the waterline, hitting the engine is also useful since it's easier to hit static targets plus the whole thing catches fire, and if the guns pose too much of a risk to your boat, shoot the guns. There's not much point hitting anything else unless it's ran by players in multiplayer, cuz in that case, if teleporting is disabled, you can kill all crew by hitting the bridge or something.
