    Great video. Is the GTX 1050 from the all brands works properly? are the all same in terms of power consumption? It seems that your GTX 1050 card is free from power socket? Would you please tell me what is exactly your used card? Many thanks in advance.

      Dariush abbasinezhad mood Hey Dariush, thanks for watching my video! Yes all GTX 1050s and 1050TIs use 75W of power max so you can get any brand you want and it will work, I can’t remember which brand I got mine from but I have since replaced yet with a Palit GTX 1050 which is a bit smaller :)

      The Server Room Talks thanks for the reply Ibrahim. Will I have any trouble installing it? I know your video said some cards might be too big and adjustments would need to be made. Is it as simple as just connecting the 1070 to the server (unless any extra cables needed)?

      Hey! I don't think you will have any issues getting the card into the server, should be the same process I did in the video and then plugging in the additional power cable. If your server didn't come with the cable you can find it on eBay ( I'm in the UK // m.ebay.co.uk/itm/10pin-to-8pin-Power-Adapter-Cable-for-HP-DL380-G6-and-GPU-50cm/112252881552?hash=item1a22cb0a90:g:uvQAAOSwnHZYZd1p )

    Going out of my mind trying to get this to work in my DL385 G6, tried Palit 750 (black screen and freeze when installing Nvidia drivers), 1050 (NMI hardware failure on boot), 1030 (NMI hardware failure on boot), sourced a X16 riser card, changed the power regulator in bios to 'static high performance', tried different IRQ's...nothing.

      Ah its been a while since I did this experiment with my DL380 G6. Im afriad i have forgotten a lot of what i learned. From my vague memory I would say that the riser card draws 140W of power at max load from the motherboard and that the x16 sized slot can supply at most 75W. More then that im all blank im afriad. 1.: Be sure that you dont run the lowest power PSUs with your Server (I think that would be the 460 Watt devices) get a pair of the beefier stuff from a refurbisher (it can take up to 10xx Watt PSUs).
      2.: Look out for a 10 Pin to 6+8 Pin adapter cable - there are many China sellers offering these Frankenstein Adapters - be sure to get a cable that uses the onboard 10 Pin Port for the HDD Backpanel. You'd lose the capability for a scound hdd bay tho.

    • @gabrielibarra5551

      Probably bad, youd need a higher Ghz CPU, since these are designed to be clocked low and have lots of cores, where gaming needs high clockspeed instead of core count.
      Also it probably has a hard drive, id be smart to upgrade to a SSD.

      @@schleybailey it works well as long as you have good gpu and power supplied and you wont get full bandwidth which those companies exaggerate having full bandwidth, though I have a dual CPU and need more ram but its good enough for me in gaming, video editing to see what the performance is like in general and overall can expand quite a bit turn it into a network attached storage, hosting minecraft servers, game on it and also still have extra room to expand, the sound it rarely revs up as it is in my room but its also underneath my bed as I dont have much space to put it anywhere but its fine and I haven't been on it for a while so I dont know what else has changed or updated and I will need to clean it out, it can work as main system for you but once your rig is better then it works well in other things, you just have to have ideas in what your going to use it for.

    • @theghast98
      @theghast98 4 года назад

      @@nigerian-nightmare I don't know, Gl380 can't find anything. If you were wrong to write and you mean DL380 g7 then Windows server 2019 can be put but for the GPU question you have to check that you have physical space inside the case to put it (as seen in the video). Another thing, check the driver of your gpu if it is installed (because without it, Windows blocks you at 640x480 with the wording base video card). Open device manager and on video cards you check what it says. Normally the DL380 have an ATI (as in the video). If in doubt, open the HPE site on the driver section for your specific server model and select the latest version of the driver for the gpu for Windows at x64 (or x86 if you are using x86). It doesn't matter if you don't find the driver for Windows server 2019 it's ok if it's also the driver for Windows 2016 or 2012. Many drivers have to be installed manually, so you have to extract the contents of the driver you just downloaded with 7zip (or an archive manager capable of opening the .exe archives / self-extracting) and from device management on the basic video card make properties with the right button and install the driver manually saying to search among your devices and then saying that you have the path of the driver (put the path of the extracted folder). I would recommend trying different settings in bios regarding performance and energy saving. my DL380 g6 actually runs quieter after I set everything to maximum performance which doesn't make sense normally. Lastly you could try to update your servers BIOS and raid card firmware and/or testing the system with the second powersupply removed which is what I have done on my server. Hey there :) your card should fit and run properly with the additional power cable the riser card comes with, the only thing that might be an issue is that your gpu under max load uses 165w of power while the system can provide a max of 150w. A solution to that could be underpowering your gpu to 90% using MSI afterburner or whatever overclock utility your comfortable with. Please feel free to ask any other questions and I hope I helped you :D

    • @theserverroomtalks8286

      Hey Bytnizer, thanks for commenting :) you should be able to use any pcie riser card designed for the dl380 g6 or g7 and it will work in your g7. The riser card I am using in my server has the part number 451278-001 so you can search for one of those or alternatively there a model with only a single x16 connector on it but it will not make a difference. The gtx 1070 requires an additional power cable which often comes with the riser card however it's worth asking the seller if it actually will come with it. If you do get the riser and no cable with it you can buy the cable by using the search term "dl380 g7 gpu power 10pin to 6/8pin cable"
      Anyway let me know if I can help you or if I explained something badly.

      Hola Eduardo, Thanks for watching my video. You can install windows 10 no problem. You will need to first create a bootable usb with the HP smartStart CD and boot it on the server to format and set up your hard drives / SSDs. then after setting up those logical volumes you can create a bootable windows 10 USB and boot the server and install to the volumes. You can use a quadro card no problem as long as it uses less then 75 watts. If the card uses up to 150 watts of power then you can use a additional power cable which I can link for you if needed. Which quadro card do you intend to use?

      Hi Taj, thanks for watching my video! Your GTX 1080 ti uses 250W of power which is too much for your dl380p gen 8. Your GTX 970 however uses 145W which is perfect as your server supports graphics cards that use up to 150W of power. You will need a riser card with a x16 slot and the additional GPU power cable that should come with the riser. If you don't have the power cable, google " PN 669777 - B21 " as that is the model number. Good luck and feel free to ask any other questions you may have :D

      @@tajbains7124 Hey so sorry it took me ages to reply. The issue unfortunately isn't how many or what wattage your power supply/ies can handle but rather how much power your pci lines and riser card can supply :( I believe the best you can do is have one gpu in one of the riser cards using up to a maximum of 150W of power. You could use then use a second riser for non gpu cards and in total they would need to consume at max 75W of power. with your situation I would recommend using a single GTX 970 as I don't think you would be able to power a second one because the cable it would need for power would have to replace whichever 10pin slot your using to power your hardrive enclosure.
      Thanks for replying and please let me know how you set it up in the end :)

      Ed The Multiboxer Hi Ed, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I haven’t been receiving notifications for some reason :/ You can power your 750 with just the riser card you have and will not need the additional power cable to do that. Your 650 ti uses 110W of power and would require the riser and power cable. I get the impression that you want to use both cards at once and as far as I know this is not possible in a traditional sense though maybe as a mining rig this could some how be done. I am not aware of a riser card with the 16x slot on the other side unfortunately.

      Ed The Multiboxer That’s strange, first thing I would suggest would be to try both the Gpu outputs connected to your monitor and if that is not showing anything then trying the servers vga output to your monitor and if that posts to your monitor have a look in bios for the preferred output

      @@theserverroomtalks8286 I can't get the onboard GPU output to work because my monitor doesn't have the right connector. I've tried using an adapter but that doesn't work either.
      I can use a low power GPU just fine, but not one using that cable.
      I've got a feeling maybe it's a power issue.
      My server came with some crappy CPUs and 2x 460W PSUs. I swapped them out for 2x x5680 CPUs and bought a pair of 750W PSUs because the HP documentation says that 750W is the minimum.
      However, one of those 750W PSUs doesn't work and won't boot if it's installed. So I've been running the server on a single 750W PSU which works fine, even with 2x x5680 CPUs. Trying to plug in any kind of GPU which requires that extra power stops the system from booting.
      I can't get ILOv3 to work properly yet, so can't use that for diagnostics either.

    • @theserverroomtalks8286
      @theserverroomtalks8286  5 лет назад

      Ed The Multiboxer Yeah those processors use 135w each so its hard for me to replicate as I use a pair of X5670s which use 95w. Here’s an idea, have you tried the same setup but with the secondary processor taken out? That could help us understand if it’s a lack of power that’s not allowing your system to boot. Oh and as far as I know having a second power supply doesn’t mean you have 1500W in total of power to work with, just that if one PSU stops working normally the other will take over.
      Anyway good luck! and please keep me posted :)
