General Jiggler some of the chat from last night and the night before when he was playing MK11... was people wishing MK11 - which looks beautiful - played like MKX. I don’t have a system, hoping to get a PS5 though and get back into games... so been watching Max’s channel and watching fighting games. MK11 looks amazing to me but after watching MK10 vids... MK11 gameplay looks crappy. I hate the fatal blows and consistent hits from certain characters. IE - Joker... he hits with that cane on your skull so much. Robocop, a lot of his combos look the same. Just seems like the move sets are limited for the characters even though they probably have lots of options???
My ultimate gripe with fighting games. Input reading AI. Every single fighting game has AI opponents, no matter what difficulty you're on, which input read your buttons to counter you immediately and force you to play in the lamest way possible to beat them, making you develop bad habits in the process that could cost you matches when fighting against real people.
Right. AI should only read what's on the screen and make decisions from that. With a buffer time that matches human ability to react to visual stimuli. I've never played a fighting game where you were able to use a feint move successfully on the computer lol. It knows you did the input for the feint instead of the actual move and reacts accordingly.
Gareth so you need to do something for it to react to it, so it’s basically reading the input to react to it. How else would you explain it? Is it not reading the buttons that you’re inputting so it can react accordingly?
Shang Tsung in MK1 could pull off such bullshit counters Guile in SFII hits you with a moonlight kick the moment you leave the ground (and he doesn't need to do the input for the move, you usually have to hold down for a bit). Motaro in MKIII who causes trouble to speedrunners even. Jade in MKII with her invulnerability and running. But, you know, with time AI became less and less like that, it doesn't feel like they read inputs anymore.
Whenever your fighting against the AI in FGS they're timing is impeccable. If u wana jump in for a kick they block if ur in a corner tryna catch them with a high or mid kick they're attacks always comes out first. As for they're grabs the most notable is M.Bison in SFA 3 whenever u try and tryna kick him in the air he times his grabs PERFECTLY🙄🙄😩
I believe that's the point of fighting games. To make you mad, you keep playing to overcome or you lab til you do, or you stop playing it all together.
Platformers for me. With fighting games, I can just assume the other person is infinitely better than me and I'll never overcome them. With platformers, though, it's just me, the game, and the undeniable knowledge that success is both possible and entirely on me.
**sweet, smooth Jazz from "Getting Over It" plays in the background** I believe that is the boss music you just invoked calling you to play some ragegames.
Well of course. A job is a job, you'd think a pornstar, videogame QA tester or celebrity is an easy enjoyable job, but no job is play time. Its a job for a reason.
Glad to hear someone say "I picked this character because I think they look cool." It's easy to get caught up in tier lists and not even enjoy the game at all
Tekken7's Bullshit: Just the realization that some characters are just built better. Characters who it's their job to jab, D/f+1, hopkick, and other low risk fundamental generic moves. When these characters do these moves however, they reach farther, they're more plus on hit, or they just have a built in benefit other characters don't really have. Meanwhile, gimmicky, mix up, characters with weaker fundamentals are the ones hated by the community. That's total bullshit.
That, and some of the approaches they've made to buffing or nerfing characters sometimes. Sometimes characters who need improvements don't get ones that matter and/or characters who are already good get something they use all the time made better. Like everything Katarina can do out of Harrier can just be stepped to the right, while Kazuya got improved tracking on fucking Hellsweeps. They went back and changed it, but the fact they buffed Hellsweeps in the first place is a problem.
Ramlethal is the reason I started playing fighting games and the reason I bought a Fightstick to enjoy XRd2 even more. She is the only character I enjoy playing and I will practice her until I can do her combos blindfolded :D After that Imma play some Baiken as well...
That's what drew me to Bullet in BBCP/CF, I could literally play BB all day just for her playstyle of hybrid grappler-rushdown. Certainly inspired me to get my own pair of arcade sticks as well!
For me Amane was the only character I'd play in Chronophantasma besides Tager for being a grappler. The idea of a mobile mid-range zoner with drills that destroy you for even blocking once he gets it going was very appealing to me.
Ramlethal is not a real Guilty Gear character. They just wanted to make a character that'd appeal to Blazblue fans, and put it into Guilty Gear so they could feel better about themselves. In all honesty? The game barely even plays like Guilty Gear anymore since the beginning of Xrd til the end.
Fr was just having a crisis with dbfz and my hatred for that game was rising and the the next day max blesses me with this video. Cant stand super dashing and auto combo and instant turnarounds and half ass online but I fucking love dragon ball.
Max's talks like this are what help me continue playing fighting games. Stopped playing Fighterz to begin playing skullgirls and etc. and I feel a lot better even with all the bullshit
Combo breaking is what makes me love KI. I *hate* games with combos you can't answer, combo and counter breaks adds another layer while also alleviating not being able to play because you made a 1 frame mistake.
Ikr. I dont know wtf is wrong with Max. He hates a mechanic that makes the game fair, but praises MvCI with that has bull shit infinite combos that you have no way to break unless the other guys by some miracle drops the combo
A player should get rewarded for getting on a hit on somebody, at that point just learn how to not make those “1 frame mistakes”, it makes no sense you should be able to break a players combo (which is also heavily dependent on their own execution skill, hence another reward on their end) when you were the one who got hit
Idk man, combo breaking does add another layer because if it’s read, that’s literally a combo reset, but you know how hard it is to get a full combo off of something like a whiff? To be able to read a whiffed attack during neutral and get an entire combo off because you’ve picked up your opponents patterns is a serious achievement and is hype as shit for the viewers and player
You are right. What's the point of footies in street fighter and once you have a single frame you get caught in a blender of hits you can't escape. It's annoying as hell.
i can totally agree on "pretty much just one character" thing. ive never been much of a Mortal Kombat fan, just kind of looked at what was going on once a new game came out. but when i saw Kollector's trailer for MK11, something in just went "i want to play this dude, i want to know!", it also helps that the over all gameplay seems even better than it was in MK10. i still need to grab a copy someday so i can give Kollector a go. (also its not like i dont like any other character, i do think Scorpion is cool, i guess i just dont find his moveset as interesting as i used to when i was a kid.)
Injustice was broke I see it as a product of it's time I won't lie I enjoy the first one over the second game but fuck me Scorp feels so broken I mean u can duck his teleport but still
T Reezy how so? He was always trash to me, and I literally first bought the game only bc he was in it, he has really low damage, he doesn’t build meter fast enough, he needs meter to use the spear(which is BS), the spear is unsafe af and can’t trade, his dash is super slow and short, his only good trait is his teleport and maybe the chip damage of his trait
Instead look for someone who doesn't conflict with you at all, or at the very least only a little. I promise there are perfect people out there for you
I am one of the few people who likes to play SNK Heroines. I like the gameplay, it is like KOF 2003 but done well, also the use of items is unique BUT I think it could become even better. The BS is the small roster, seriously 80% of the roster is just KOF characters in a SNK fighting game.
@@meganinten0078 you can kinda give them leeway and say "oh Mai is Fatal Fury and Athena is Psycho Soldier" but even so almost all of them are KOF because reused assets and that's kind of a shame because it would have been nice to see Shiki return from the original SNK gals, or even Iroha... But even so I love this small game they put out and I just love to go back into that even if it could have been a lot more
@@DevilJ432 They put a lot of effort in that game. It is very fun. Also, the references were very good. The roster really damaged the game. It would have been better ladies from Last Blade, World Heroes, Metal Slug...
Marvel 2, Third Strike and CvS2 are some of the greatest fighting games ever made. And they're all bullshit. The first two have the "only a tenth of the roster is viable" and CvS2 is a fucking mess.
I will always want fighting games to be balanced. Even though they can't be perfect, devs should strive for balance because, I want every player who plays the game to be able to be happy with who they like using.
I love these videos where Max just talks about fighting games with no game play to them! His passion and enthusiasm for the art of fighting games is so palpable that you feel energized just from listening to him talk! Keep up the great work
FGC on Super Dash: "LUL are you even 2H-ing? There's a built in counter to SD you scrub!" When Max says it: "You tell them Max! Super Dash is bullshit!"
Assist plus super dash is free neutral, which kinda of sucks, but luckily, the game is really easy to reset back to neutral, just reflect in a block string gap, guard cancel, and everything’s good again
@@JarlSwagDog This is the only problem that I find with Super dash to be honest. Offline, I can 2H super dash once in 3 or 5 times and I'm only a decent player.
For me, it's Terry Bogard in Smash Ultimate.....I lose more than I win, but I'm loving the origin and gameplay of the character. Played lots of KoF 99 and 2000 back in the day.
Not to mention that fighting game shoto characters in smash play quite different compared to the core of ultimate, you gotta play em a lot but they click eventually. Terry's my main, and ken with ryu stay a bit on the side too
As much as I love fighting games since days of the arcade, I can put up with any BS mechanic or character but never... INFINITE COMBOS. Someone dare tell me that they love when they are on the receiving end
max is right, it really comes down to the IP at the end of the day. ive loved superhero comics and dbz all my life, so injustice, mvc, and fighterz are fighting games i have much more fun playing, whereas games like KI and granblue i dont have any attachment to so they dont really have the same lasting power for me. good fiction is a very powerful thing
Dragon ball Fighterz is not a perfect game. I mean UI Goku is the most bullshit character I've fought in a long time. I still love it though because it always feels like it's more personal. The characters we pick are who we want to play, and even if he is cheese. I'm still not giving up those characters I play because they connect with me. Baseku for Wawa who's gameplay reinvigorated my passion. Rosé for him being my favorite arc and one of my favorites to play despite being a little lower than the others. At the heart of my team, is DBS Broly. I waited so long for him to come and he blew me away. That Movie brought so much life to the character for me and it's probably my favorite modern Anime Movie. It also gives me a outlet for the inevitable rage that comes with Fighting Games. When I play Broly, I understand that anger and I use it to push me further. I couldn't get into DBZ because I felt disconnected, but when DBS Broly shows up it's comeback time. GT Goku pissed me off same for UI and now I feel like Broly looking at Vegeta.
I don't like games with only one or two sources of bs, because everyone will use the same bs and that's all you will see. A game should have enough sources of bs for every player to have their own bs for every possible playstyle.
To me, every time bullshit waives me off a game I end up wishing it hadn't, even if I'm right about what isn't great about it. I guess I'm saying playing games is more fun than not playing games. Crazy eh
For Honor is my favourite fighting game. Sure it’s not a head to head fighting game like most fighters but I love it. This video made me realise how much I actually do love the game, and how and why I put up with its bullshit.
How in the hell did Smash not get in on this video. That game is basically "Shenanigans The Fighting". I mean sheesh it would take me a seminar to discuss Smash's, complete with character flowcharts and jank analysis.
Smash is Balanced in a different way, any one character can have an advantage over another type, but no character was effective against EVERY character, it's the 'anti-character' balance rather than the 'every character is fair' balance. For a while Fox/Falco mains almost managed to totally dominate the top tournament circuits, their speed skillset making them nigh unbeatable.... Then they released Sonic, and suddenly pro Fox players are getting schooled by mid-level Sonic players because they can't keep up, and they WHINED so hard about it that Sonic got nixed from a lot of tournaments for a while, saying he's 'BROKEN' solely because returning Champs were getting kicked out in the first round by nobodies using Sonic, kinda pissed off the meta-community a bit. So while yes, almost every character in Smash has some level of Bullshit mechanic, and spammed against a character who's not their counter can make a fight seem impossible, against one that has an advantage, it's a joke.
This is how I am with fighterz. I’m someone who’s never played any other fighting games my whole life, and just by watching videos like yours combined with my natural dragon ball love, I taught myself that shit. Since I’ve never played a fighting game without super dash or vanish those things are normal to me, I can’t imagine fighting games without them low key lmao but I think if you love a series or game I agree you can definitely get past the frustrating parts. Thanks again for all the content and I hope everyone has a good day :)
Lol this actually gave me an idea for a fighting game with its own bs. Where every character has and offensive and defensive stance, and you’d have to switch back and forth. The switch would be like instant on a button push, no animation to get through or anything like that. I think if done right it could be really fun and have some crazy neutral.
Not really. You're not on balanced terms with your opponents all the time. Their characters and yours can do different things, and some will be stronger than the other.
Not having a character you vibe with in a fighting game can be friggin' rough. Like, "game ruined" rough. It was what made my early steps into BlazBlue incredibly difficult to overcome, to the point where I was just about ready to drop the whole series. My history with BlazBlue goes back as far as Continuum Shift Extend, but I never really got into it the same way I was vibing with Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and 3, my main games at the time. This only got worse when I picked up the game again about a half a year ago when I started playing fighting games again with a friend, because I just got into the worst kind of character-crisis imaginable. I just felt like there wasn't a solid "Fundamental" character, who didn't demand me to jump through 9 different hoops just to get what I wanted out of them. Everyone felt so gimmicky and that turned me off initially. Ironically enough, by the time I had finally reached the point when the game clicked, I was just back where I started. Early on, I adopted to Azrael and Hakumen as my top picks, but both felt uncomfortable due to that aformentioned need to play with esoteric mechanics just to use the characters. This spurred me onto a venture, where I ended up going through the entire cast almost and while I had fun with some characters, I didn't feel like there was a character I could say I got full milage out of, where I was frequently using their full kit. Then I just decided to pick up Azrael and Hakumen again and before I knew it, that was that. Whether I was just getting better at fighters period or cycling through the cast helped me understand BlazBlue's systems, I felt like I was finally playing with full intentionality and started having a blast with the game. Kinda makes me feel silly for going through a crisis to which an answer was sitting right in my face, but it's not like it was all bad, as I did find new characters to throw into the mix. Iron Tager and Platinum The Trinity are characters I'll pick when I wanna feel spicy and Izayoi is legit a solid tertiary to me, on the border of replacing Azrael as my secondary.
Gigas mains when they got spat right in the face after the release of Leroy: Yeah, you guys still remain in the sewers. We didn't do anything about the gentle giant. Sorry about that. But check out this sick guy we just released. Just look at how easy he gets it. Switch to him maybe? Because we certainly aren't addressing your main anytime in the future.
As a Yoshi main myself, this hits me deep in my soul. Tekken 7 is in such a bad way, even post buffs and balance changes it's still very much a broken mess in about every aspect of the game. Bad movement, bad range, bad hurtbox problems, bad frames. Just a mess all around
The parry in Third Strike is the best mechanic is all fighting games IMO. Very few things in fight games says "I'm better than you" than well timed parries followed by attacks. It screams "I know what you're going to do and there's nothing you can do about it" and I love it. It's Neo one hand blocking Agent Smith's attacks in the hallway at the end of Matrix.
Absolver had shit online in an online only game, a lack of content, and a pretty minimalist art style with a small color palette. But making my own fighting style and hearing the thunks with each hit connecting was enough for me to look past the garbage long enough to get some solid enjoyment
I agree here! Though to add complexity, I introduce the *Bulls#!t Barrier* : one's innate resistance toward seemingly unfair or crippling or bothersome aspects. The higher your Bulls#!t Barrier, the more persistent you are at wanting to learn, master and generally enjoy online matches, let alone games period~ 'Breaking' the barrier refers to reaching a ragequit or similar exclamation of ire, exhaustion and aggravation that makes you stop playong for an extended period of time.
I mean. I know its fun to trash on Jump Force. Especially as an arena fighter. But I like it. Some others do to of course. Wasn't enough like to want to get passionatly into it. Especially with superior options. I didn't really hate it at all though.
Also I mean. Most arena fighters I wouldn't want to try to get into in a competive high skill sense anyway. I view them much more as just some mindless fun and sometimes some rpg mechanic depth added to the fun. Over anything much serious. Like I might do with mk11.
Jump force had some really good quality updates over time. MVCI and jump force share the fact that people still trashing it without even them trying to see that there is more to these games. At the end everyone should play games that they have fun with
08:40 exactly!!! This is exactly why I couldnt get into Soul Calibur/Blade/Edge for the longest. Literally none of the characters stood out to me. I just had to just up and buy 6 and find a character that I sort of think is cool. I just ended up playing Maxi due to his cool super but now that Haohmaru is in (I'm an SNK fan so it makes sense), I FINALLY have a character for this iteration at least.
You mentioning about not finding that one character in Granblue reminds me of I how feel about Blazblue. I'm no pro by any means, but I love Bang for his character and play style; there's something that's so satisfying when you're low on health, activate FRKZ overdrive [which causes the in-game music to change into an awesome power-ranger-like theme. On top of that, when you have low health, Bang does a special longer activation animation to build up the hype/fail to follow], and perform a full FRKZ combo into super. For me it's always fun to watch, receiving or giving imo. His bumpers give him even more options on top of his options. I wuv options. At the same time, I really don't care much for a majority of the other characters; they just never really appealed to me and some of them just annoy me personality-wise. Bang has horrible defensive options cuz his parries are flawed and he doesn't have a quick, reliable anti-air that doesn't require meter. His pressure game can also be easily snuffed out if you know his strings. His limited supply of nail/projectiles is also a thing. Fighting Nu/Lambda/Arakune/Nine/Mai sucks. Some online matches are quite horrendous, lag-wise, for me. Even then though, I still find myself going back to the game to play casually, cuz all the character/general options you have make the match interesting. My god does it feel good to have 5 options for ground oki [back, quick, neutral, forward, delayed] and 4 options for air oki [back, neutral, forward, delayed]; keeps the opponent guessing, and if you're lucky enough, you can catch them off guard. I love neutral Astrals (though I rarely use em) cuz it throws in fear into the equation; since Bang's astral is unblockable, as soon as some people see the red astral flash, they lock up and block when all they need to do is crouch or jump to dodge. Depending on the character, you can do cross-unders as well for extra confusion. ...wtf did I write all this? I nunno. I'll send it anyway lol. Interesting insight as always Max. Love your channel!
Fighting games are fundamentally broken in the same way that sports games are. Developers know their fan bases and just milk em out like mobile platforms to take advantage of the cultures and make more money.
Not really. Fighting games have to keep a longer player base by design - and planned dlc helps keep games alive or keeps interest until the next title comes out.
Definitely the sound of a person about to be a father. I have to stay with my favorite game, its just not enough time to master gameplay of newer fighting games. Welcole to the being a dad club Max!
Smash bros Ultimate. Period. This whole video is exactly the phase I'm going through with it rn. I kinda see a lot of the community going through that as well cuz there is so much complaining about the game
My main complaint with Smash is that basic punishes and combos are insanely inconsistent. I usually have several "how the hell did that hit/miss?" moments every single game. Not to mention the online being probably the worst of any game I've played.
I love being able to break combos in KI and when people break my combos and we are going back and forth that shit is hype! Lol hate when I just have to sit there until the combo is over in other games
I play a lot of competitive games but I love fighting games the most and I'd say that bullshit is in every single game and as Max said, it's all about whether you find something you love enough to the point where you wanna continue playing the game anyway and find ways around it. Hell I would go further and this applies to a lot of single player too. There are a lot of games with repetitive side quests or too much grind or 1 strategy is obviously so much better than another but the question is if the stuff you like > stuff you don't like.
Swear I could even handle the online of that game if the input lag/buffer values weren't so astronomically high. As it stands, I have maybe a handful of hours on Ultimate since getting it on launch. It just... Fucking blows because of it, and there's an otherwise pretty decent game in there if I could just rip away that 11ish frame input delay and god damn 48 frame hold-buffer which turns into spot-dodging to the ground when you just wanted to land and shield :/
A character clicking is such, SUCH a good feeling. I hate 1 hit confirm, hate counter only combo so I use universal combos. Then there's Tsubaki 6C route, makes me learn to confirm CH.
Dude, the shit-eating grin on the face in your avatar gives you away: You're daring suckers to give themselves alcohol poisoning. And if I hadn't already run out of alcohol, I would've taken you up on that dare...
I really appreciate the statement of "Bullshit you just don't like" I've been getting into Fighterz alot lately and my friend keeps telling me that SuperDash isn't that bad. And maybe he's right, but imo, I just don't enjoy dealing with that shit and that's ok
man this was the best real talk some people play fighting games for years and don't realize this at all remember we end up loving things and people by extension for their flaws not the things they do well cause at the end of the day what are you willing to live with? everything is flawed so which flaws can you work with...
Oh I feel this so much. I'm a FighterZ player and I just have sessions where the bull angers me more and more. Granted, some of that bull is just some players' terrible connections or even lagswitching, and weird player habits. (I will NEVER get used to the type of madman that presses 5H, whiffs, presses it again, whiffs, PRESSES IT AGAIN.) But some of it is game bull. Wonky superdashes and some odd hitboxes and interactions mostly. But even though I hate FighterZ, I love FighterZ.
imagine this: you have the determination and you find a cool character to main but you dont have the patience to overcome the mechanics / gameplay BS :( thats what happens to me, i love fighting games, the thing is that i cant overcome the BS, sorry
I feel exactly the same. There's all this talk that fighting games are not welcoming to new players, and the community very loudly wants to keep it that way. Yes, some people will quit no matter what, and some people don't want to put the effort, but us in the middle are, I think, the ones that are most frustrated.
i feel this in bbtag, first: auto dp button that also anti airs, zoners are broken, raw assist doesnt use assist meter, command grabs have full invul, 0 FRAME FUCKING GRABS, and hit/hurt boxes are broken as hell that B&B doesnt work on certain characters. yet i only play it for jubei and seth.
Great video Max. Well said man, over coming the BS in Fighting Games can be fun and also very frustrating aswell. What i hate is all the Corner shit too deal with, gets annoying and old after awhile.
For the most part, I liked Injustice 2 when I was using the Flash and Enchantress. I liked the challenge of owning players with the Flash who had no projectiles (except for in a custom variation) and I liked Enchantress because I could deflect spammers and then get in on them. So I enjoyed the challenge of getting in on characters. Maybe it's a relic of liking shoot'em up games like ikaruga and Galaga growing up? I don't know. I guess the frustration makes me want to find a way to skillfully win against spammers even more. And I still like Mk11 even with some pretty cheap characters in it. But my biggest gripe is teleporters. Supergirl is what ruined Injustice 2 for me. Teleport attacks worked in old school games like MK because they were slower, but now it's too fast and can be easily abused. I hate that concept so much now.
As a game designer, these are the challenges we face as how likeable a character can become to you, this is key to develop engage in a person and how likely they will become your fan base. In a fighting game thats crucial also, the personality needs to get out of the screen. Like League of legends for example.
Gato from Garou is the only fighting game character I've ever loved. He is my perfect fighting game character. Everything I want. I can still SSS rank the SNK boss, and completely body any friend who plays me. ...poor Gato. Stuck with Roc Howard in a timeline SNK isn't interested in. =/
I completely agree with this sentiment, like COMPLETELY. I feel like this can extend beyond just fighting games too tho. If you enjoy something about a game, no matter how bad it is, it wont be bad enough to stop you from playing it.
I feel like this could just be further extended to video games as a whole, because I've definitely found myself sitting and looking at the ones I own, trying to decide what to play, looking at one and thinking "Oh yeah this game is fun!" as my first thought, and then my immediate second thought being to remember all the bullshit that's in it and then weighing in my head whether I really want to get back into it.

Shang Tsung in MK1 could pull off such bullshit counters
Guile in SFII hits you with a moonlight kick the moment you leave the ground (and he doesn't need to do the input for the move, you usually have to hold down for a bit).

Katarina and noctis
Tekkens real bullshit is remembering strings that people spam online. from 40 different chars .
MainManSWE just so happened to cover this recently. What’re the odds?

Ngl, I have a hard time picking fighting game chicks, but I relate to your motivation. 😂

DR. BLUE how is fair to get punished for getting a hit on an opponent??

The Smash Bros. games play way differently than any traditional fighter. It's something you have to get used too.

How in the hell did Smash not get in on this video. That game is basically "Shenanigans The Fighting". I mean sheesh it would take me a seminar to discuss Smash's, complete with character flowcharts and jank analysis.
It's not a fighting game
@@aquilonianace4791 Melee isn't a fighting game. The other smashes are.

Lol this actually gave me an idea for a fighting game with its own bs. Where every character has and offensive and defensive stance, and you’d have to switch back and forth. The switch would be like instant on a button push, no animation to get through or anything like that. I think if done right it could be really fun and have some crazy neutral.
Can you do it on blockstun tho or is that too much bs lmao
Fighting games are like a fast-paced game of chess.
Or like rock paper scissors...
Delay-Based chess
Chess needs more jiggle physics
Very accurate depiction
Fighting games are like the WWE franchise. It's entertainment but you still need to train and practice for those moments of glory.
I love hearing Max talking about all these different kinds of fighters with the pros and cons
Everyone else: *Celebrating father's day*
Max: I SHALL RELEASE MY RAGE UPON THY FIGHTETH GAMES
Absolver had shit online in an online only game, a lack of content, and a pretty minimalist art style with a small color palette. But making my own fighting style and hearing the thunks with each hit connecting was enough for me to look past the garbage long enough to get some solid enjoyment
Nail on the head 😂👍 everytime I play new game, especially when I jump online, I always end up shouting bullshit sooner rather than later 😂
I agree here! Though to add complexity, I introduce the *Bulls#!t Barrier* : one's innate resistance toward seemingly unfair or crippling or bothersome aspects. The higher your Bulls#!t Barrier, the more persistent you are at wanting to learn, master and generally enjoy online matches, let alone games period~
'Breaking' the barrier refers to reaching a ragequit or similar exclamation of ire, exhaustion and aggravation that makes you stop playong for an extended period of time.
Lmao the last few jump force players are going to use this to convince themselves to keep playing that terrible game
Stopppp, They're already dead. Lmao
I mean. I know its fun to trash on Jump Force. Especially as an arena fighter. But I like it. Some others do to of course. Wasn't enough like to want to get passionatly into it. Especially with superior options. I didn't really hate it at all though.
Rather play JF than MvCI any day.
At least i can have stupid casual fun wirh JF, but MvCI with those infinite unbreakable combos...fuck that game
Every game has that bs level.i know when i've hit it cos i turn it off.
Through DLC, exclusives and time released garbage I'm sure.
Not really what's being talked about, but yeah, that is total horseshit.
Those are completely different points though
Basically free player cry against gacha player. ..that best part. It not balance. Cry all you want. Money talk.
But people keep playing it because they love the characters and the legacy of the series.
My main complaint with Smash is that basic punishes and combos are insanely inconsistent. I usually have several "how the hell did that hit/miss?" moments every single game. Not to mention the online being probably the worst of any game I've played.
I honestly not played ultimate since last year.

Max: *talks about enjoying online even if its bad*

If only....

Oh I feel this so much. I'm a FighterZ player and I just have sessions where the bull angers me more and more. Granted, some of that bull is just some players' terrible connections or even lagswitching, and weird player habits. (I will NEVER get used to the type of madman that presses 5H, whiffs, presses it again, whiffs, PRESSES IT AGAIN.)
But some of it is game bull. Wonky superdashes and some odd hitboxes and interactions mostly.
But even though I hate FighterZ, I love FighterZ.
Silly Max. It's not that we accept bullshit from games...
*It's Stockholm Syndrome.*
Anyone remember TMNT Tournament Fighters Supers chipping for more damage on block than on a clean hit?
imagine this: you have the determination and you find a cool character to main but you dont have the patience to overcome the mechanics / gameplay BS :(
thats what happens to me, i love fighting games, the thing is that i cant overcome the BS, sorry
I mentioned this video to my friends only by reading the title and they said "of course they are."
Great video Max. Well said man, over coming the BS in Fighting Games can be fun and also very frustrating aswell. What i hate is all the Corner shit too deal with, gets annoying and old after awhile.
max's real talks are my favorite type of max content
Because dood speaks the truth, he actually means what he says.
Here comes the spicy hot take from max. Let's see where this rabbit hole goes.
i missed this when it was uploaded..but after raging at DBFz and UMvC3 the past 3 days, I can appreciate this 100%
We need more Skullgirls.
I'd be fine with the Skullgirls characters just being guest characters in other games.
"That is bullshit blazing, still my heart is blazing!"
--fighting game fans
(EDIT: Turns out the smell of the game is salt)
I feel like this could just be further extended to video games as a whole, because I've definitely found myself sitting and looking at the ones I own, trying to decide what to play, looking at one and thinking "Oh yeah this game is fun!" as my first thought, and then my immediate second thought being to remember all the bullshit that's in it and then weighing in my head whether I really want to get back into it.
