- When we first met Ivan Luna, owner and barber at Luna's Barbershop in Carthage, Texas, he proudly informed us, “My main goal has always been to give people that old school barbering feeling . . . ”
Well, you definitely get that old school feeling from the moment you set foot in his shop💈❤️ Ivan has been cutting hair since he was 12-years old.
He says, “Ever since I was a kid and picked up a set of hair clippers, that’s when I knew I was born to be a barber and have the love and passion for this beautiful craft.”
Luna's Barbershop is the hidden gem of Carthage and beyond. Ivan is an avid collector of anything barbershop related, and his barbershop is a time capsule of antique barber chairs, trinkets and photographs from a bygone era. Ivan's favorite piece in his collection is a Victorian barber chair from New York that he purchased at an auction.
Ivan also enjoys classic old school music and inside his shop you'll find records from Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Ritchie Valens, Johnny Cash, Little Richard, and Hank Williams 🎶
Before sitting me down in an emerald green 1920s Koken chair, Ivan acquired in San Antonio, we talked about Carthage also being known for the movie "Bernie" starring Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine, and Matthew McConaughey.

I really love the way stuff like these barbershops look. It's so much character not just a guy/gal doing hair inside of a boring building with some posters.
While I also prefer the more classic shops like this, I think theres still something good to be said about the minimalistic and modern/industrial looking shops.

I wonder if I am the only one who's obsessed with things like at 12:34. The way he or other barber clean the nose and mouth etc always gives me the tingles. Also, when he places the towel 19:30 and he does the little adjustments around the nose etc to make sure it all fits and sits well. So relaxing 😌

This barber get an A++ in my book. Preparation is key. 20 mins in and Still not a blade to the face. This shows professionalism, this shows enjoying what you do, this turns a career into an artform/routine. This is what I need in my life. Wish I had a barber like this in my area
A haircut or shave like this focuses just as much on the journey as the destination. You could shave yourself at home with a cheap razor that comes in a multipack but it's a far cry from the experience you get at a place like this.
This will be one of the best, if not the best performing, video on this channel. Best shave and service i ever saw

I watch and rewatch most of the shave videos every week because they are the only thing that puts me to sleep. This looks like the closest, cleanest shave HCH has gotten. He looks 20 years younger after.

The fact he uses the trimmers then the foils… THEN the razor… why don’t more people do this. I feel like it made for a MUCH better shaving experience. 10/10.
Seems like it's just two different schools of thought. Seems like a newer approach versus the double shave
No grabbing hairs with the razor, Just a nice shave the first time around. And it’s not good to shave twice in a row. Messes up the skin.

I’ve seen so many barbers have different ways of doing a shave really cool and I kind of mix it up for me when I shave i never really cared but now I’m on whole other level 😂
God how I wish I had a barbershop like this in indiana. The face message with the three hot towels on is the first time I've seen this done. Harry has got to be in heaven during this shave prep.

You see, I do this for a living.. I take my time and give people deluxe shaves.. shave and cut plus style cost $40 in Chicago( on the lower end) most clients act like that’s too much money for a DELUXE service. They love the service itself, but usually want everything for a discount. Super disrespectful.. I respect everything us Barbers do.. much love. Clients need to gain more respect for the service industry

@@Plubes I usually give a min $15 tip on a $40 dollar cut and shave.
