Welcome back to the channel guys, I'm PGA Professional Gary Martin from North England, and in todays show we're looking at the very best valued USED FORGIVING GAME IMPROVEMENT IRONS on the second hand market in 2025!
Using my 25 years experience buying and selling golf clubs, I'm compromising list of the best golf clubs in different category's!

Another great video Gaz, enjoying waking up to these on a Sunday morning. Also, check out the very affordable Callaway Edge Iron set (from the costco package set), they are basically Callaway X2 Hot irons rebranded as Edge. These are a great budget set at under £200, sometimes you see them on there for around £100!

I bought a full set 5-pw Callaway XR irons 2 years ago for £100 and are absolutely best irons I've hit.
Very long and incredibly forgiving.

Great video. As i mentioned on one of your earlier vids, i still have my 2004 Callaway X-18 Pro-Series with the original Callaway Uni-Flex steel shafts . I was "custom fit" for them in New Jersey in 2004 and It was my first ever custom fit using an indoor simulator. 5 iron thru AW. Just this past week i cut down them down 1/2 inch to match my current specs. Re-gripped them. Also, a few years ago i bought a 4 iron with Callaway's graphite stiff flex shaft. These heads are extremely forgiving and feel great for a cast club mostly because they have a bore-thru hosel.
I'll be alternating them with my gamer 2021 T100S irons, in fact they're so good, i might continue using them even after the grooves wear out on the T100S irons
Yes compare that old Callaway Epic Flash triple diamond driver to their latest ELYTE Triple diamond.
I’ve bot played with Callaway x series irons from that era for many years, so it’s a surprise to me that someone has this much confidence in them, to play them alongside such a new premium model.
They must still do the business!

@ honestly I haven’t hit them yet, I have trigger finger in my left thumb. but I’m hopeful they’re still relevant. They have a wide sole and forgiving heads. Being a 9 handicap I’m sure they’ll be good enough for me to play with and not need to spend over $1000 on a new set of irons in a few years. Or even $500-600 on Takoma irons
I must agree with you about the MacGregor V-Foil 445s. I had a set and they were fantastic. One set of clubs I will forever regret replacing.
Do you remember the launch being so high to anything else in that time. That’s what I found with them 😅
Yes. I was a high handicap golfer at the time, and these clubs were so easy to hit and launch. They also felt fantastic. Wish I’d kept them.
Some nice looking sets of irons Gaz especially the Callaway and Titleist, you should definitely take the driver to Sam and see what he can do with it

Glad to see the xhots on the list, played xhots for most of last year, great clubs! Only reason they xame out of the bag was a lucky thrift store find of Epon af703s for $25 for the set, and they are in pretty good shape yet

Cleveland had the Quadpro irons from 2002 and the 2005 launchers which were very forgiving irons with high Maltby Playability ratings. I don’t know how far back you are willing to go but these irons can be found rather cheaply on eBay.
I might do a most forging irons under £100, I think both of them would be great options!
Picture wise for me it has to be Seve with Maurice Flitcroft, iconic. Hunting course at Slaley Hall is spot on.

There are Maxfli A10 cavity irons and also the tour which are progressives, so cavity 4-7 MB 8-SW, around £100 a set, fantastic irons, played them for years
Great shout! I’m going to do an under £100, and I think these could be right up there.
@ taylormade purchased maxfli, and copied the progressives for their own blended set

@garymartingolf stick a jumbomax small or medium size ultra light will help.
Ben Hogan edge CFT irons forged titanium faces absolutely rockets of the face. They go for nothing on eBay these days the only downside is they really chew up your ball the grooves are sharp.

Mizuno jpx some good irons for under 200 quid or the callaway XR irons both good options or. Callaway x2 hot irons plenty of them under 200 quid. Srixon z series irons another decent option especially as srixon are very under rated

I traded my qi irons for the tietlist ap2 irons what do you think of that?
I love AP2. It’s a progressive move, they’re abit softer and give you more ball flight control, but I think you’ve to adapt into them as they might be a tad harder to hit initially.

It was hard at first the heads are tiny but I’ve been having lessons with Callum at Pete cowens and I’m striking them lovely now
