While Michelle Gomez may be my favourite iteration of the Master, the few moments Jacobi had on screen were chillingly magical - a turn of the head, a glint of his (suddenly horribly cold) eyes, and the transformation was complete, before he uttered a word. I can think of few actors in 'Who, or elsewhere, that have so subtly, effectively exuded evil.

Of course one of the great things about audio stories is you can do other things while listening to them, but generally you'll want it to be something that doesn't take too much focus. Anything where you have to read or listen to dialogue (like some video games for example) tend to be a bad idea. Other video games are great though, I've listened to literally hundreds of Doctor Who audios while playing Valheim lol. And there are plenty of other things you can do, I quite enjoy listening while going out for a walk :)

I think it'd be interesting to take a re-edited version of Human Nature/Family of Blood and use it to introduce someone to Doctor Who for the first time. They would be getting hints about who John Smith really is along with him and wonder what's going on until the big reveal. Then, if this hypothetical person becomes a fan, they can go back and experience the show from the beginning to fill in the Doctor's background. Could be fun. Sadly, I don't know anyone unfamiliar with Doctor Who that I could try this on.

Besides, how could his people be Time Lords and travel through space-time without fully understanding it? And what about 'fixed points'? Does this entity decide these arbitrarily?

I will add a few for a list:
"The Time Meddler" (the First Doctor episode) - the show was only building it's own rules, and the reveal that the Doctor and Susan are not the only ones in their race was unexpected. When I was watching it, I absolutely didn't see the fact that the Monk is a time lord coming. And I was really shocked, when it was revealed.
"Colditz" (the Seventh Doctor audiodrama) - the reveal that Elizabeth Klein comes from an alternate timeline in which the Nazis have won, is an interesting one. It expands Klein's character, and builds up the idea of what can happen if the Doctor fails.
"Dust Breeding" (another Seventh Doctor audiodrama) - although I kinda spoiled this one for myself, I still really enjoyed it. The delegation of rich people having a party, with a mysterious Mr Seta, who hides his face under a golden mask. And when he is confronted by the party organizer's bodyguard, Mr Seta activates his weapon he brought on board and shows what an evil man he is. Bodyguard asks: "Who are you?!", and receives an answer: "I am the Master, and you will obey me." The truly MASTERful performance by Geoffrey Beevers and the effect of person talking while wearing a mask makes the Master here sound as a truly terrifying person, and the reveal is very goosebumps inducing.
"Project: Lazarus" (Sixth/Seventh Doctor audiodrama) - the first half with the Sixth, the second one with the Seventh. The reveal that the Sixth Doctor present in the second half of the story is actually a clone is a pretty sad one. When it is revealed, that he is not a third one, as he was said by the project's mastermind Nimrod, but actually one of the countless attempts to clone the Sixth Doctor, it is very depressing.
"Omega" (the Fifth Doctor audiodrama) - I love the "hero is actually a villain" reveals, when they are handled properly, and "Omega" is a great example. As the name of the story suggests, the Omega - the inventor of time travel, is present. And through the three parts of the story we are sure we hear the Fifth Doctor and Omega having a conversation we are sure about their identities. But at the end of the third part, when the Doctor starts to talk about why he is being accused of murders done by Omega, it is revealed that it really was Omega. And the Doctor. Omega tried to create the copy of the Doctor's body which he could use, but accidentally split his identity - Omega and the Doctor. And when the real Fifth Doctor arrives, everything flips. There is absolutely no way you can make it in the TV episode, and the audio space really helps to keep the secret.
"Master" (yet another Seventh Doctor audiodrama (damn he is lucky with plot twists)) - one of the most important stories, which tells the reason of why the Master is evil - he is the champion of Death herself. At least this is what he and the Doctor remember - that, while playing near the river as young boys, the bully tried to drown the Doctor, and the Master killed the bully with the rock, and later the guilt twisted the Master's mind, making him who he is. But later in the story everything flips - it is revealed, that the Doctor killed the bully, not the Master. And Death did came to the Doctor to make him her champion, only for the Doctor to be afraid and make her pick the Master. This really shows that the Doctor is not that white and fluffy, and he really did horrifying things he wishes he hadn't done. And you feel bad for the Master, I can't hide it.
"Full Fathom Five" (an alternate Doctor audiodrama) - set in an alternate timeline, in which the Doctor believes that the end justifies the means, the said Doctor, voiced by late great David Collings, is a really terrifying man. He doesn't bother trying to do everything without violence, and he can really kill anyone if he finds that person useless. The DEEP - underwater research lab, was the place, where the father of Ruth - companion of this story, was last seen. Ruth and the Doctor some here to find her father, only for Ruth to learn the horrifying truth - the Doctor killed him to hide the awful experiments done in this lab. This disgusts Ruth, and did disgust me, and if I was there, I would've killed that version of the Doctor with my bare hands - the reveal of what a monster this man is. Even more monstrous than the actual "monster".
"UNIT: Dominion" (the Seventh Doctor audiodrama) - while the Seventh Doctor and his new companion Raine explore the alternate dimension, Elizabeth Klein, who works for UNIT now, is visited again by the Doctor - another incarnation, who implies himself to be from his far future. Amazing performance by Alex MacQueen really makes you believe that it really is the Doctor. A little strange one, but still the Doctor. The first three parts give you this information, only for the finale of the third part to turn everything upside down, and the suspicions click together - this person we heard is not the Doctor, but rather a new, never seen/heard before incarnation of the Master. Each time I relisten to that moment, I have the goosebumps

The Timeless Child reveal was just reaffirming the "Morbius Doctors". I'd wager that the War Doctor Reveal was much bigger in retrospect.

So, the "star whale" episode rips off Next Gen "Encounter at Farpoint", where the star creature was abused to serve its "captors"? So many parallels between NuWho and Star Trek Next Gen... ;-P

Just catching up on DW and have just finished with the WWII daleks. But I am still thinking about Timothy Dalton as Rassalon. He was magnificent! I'm one of those who think he was (allowing for the naff scripts) one of the best James Bonds ever.

I hate the pandoricca, it literally doesnt make sense. Tha daleks appear without explanation in season 5, same with the cyberman and everyone else. "Lets all be friends and trap the doctor" and then they just all leave without explanation.
