What an amazing interview! Graham asked all the right questions. Always wanted to get a deeper insight on this ultra-successful but otherwise low-key businessman. Lorenzo's a Don.
Huge respect for Lorenzo, regardless if his father was the one who gave him these opportunities, he’s the one who worked hard and made something of those opportunities. I see so many “haters” in these comments attacking him and calling him spoiled and it makes no sense to me. In fact, he would be more spoiled if he didn’t take those opportunities just like all the people from wealthy families who end up blowing their parents money and doing nothing with their lives. Someone who makes the most of what their given and works hard even though they don’t have to is quite the opposite of spoiled.
LOL! This is the PG version of events... Yup, a plucky young Italian man just came up from Galvestan with a $1 in his pocket, became a bellboy at a local casino, and bingo-bango builds his OWN CASINO in a few years! Just like that! That's how the gambling business works, folks. Nothing more to see here! The incredible balls on Lorenzo to lie like this... You'd have to be a complete dew-eyed innocent, like Graham maybe, to believe this telling of the story.
Listen to Steve Wynn interview and you will hear the exact same PR pitch which conveniently leaves out the pain and suffering caused to innocent people and business to enable this “rags to riches” success. It’s just nonsense.
Apparently the Fertitta family were known to run gambling, strip joints and other unsavory businesses in Texas. I guess when there was a recession in Texas they decided there was more money to be made in Las Vegas.
I agree, there's more to the story and these guys are most likely mob tied, but what do you expect? To say it in an interview? If you were Graham would you ask Lorenzo to tell the truth? If you were Lorenzo would you tell the truth? No. Everybody knows It but they obviusly are not going to admit It publicly. That doesn't make them dumb
Crazy how some people have fathers that leave their kids before even getting to know them .. and you have fathers like the fertitta brothers who’s father was already thinking for them before they were even born
The Prodigy - It wasn’t that big really. The new one in Queensridge built like 20 years later was pretty massive (different employer for me). My boss worked on that one. He later added on 400 sq feet to his nook and I think he spent $2,000,000 on it. Was kinda complicated due to structural. Anyway, I do big houses like that all the time but I never get to meet the owners.
I was surfing Lahaina harbor (Maui, Hawaii), today and saw the yacht "Lonian" and the shadow boat "Hodor" anchored offshore. We don't see yachts like this in Maui much, so I decided to investigate it further. Who is the owner Lorenzo Fertitta, I asked myself. I was pleasantly surprised to see on these video interviews, that he appears to be a great guy. Very personable, hard working, intelligent and down-to-earth. Not at all like I thought a billionaire would be like. I really appreciate a person that takes stock in their upbringing / family. Lorenzo's strong work ethic comes from watching and participating, in his father's humble beginnings in business.
Nice answer. He went out to las vegas, ya da ya da ya da, he had the opportunity to invest in a casino from the ground up. Such bs. People dont get those opportunities unless they are tied in , and the fertitta family form galveston was very much tied in .
@@thebusinesschannel3270 For real. These average joes leading unremarkable lives spewing out bullshit about the success of others to compensate for their own failures. Its funny because you see these type of people everyday and everywhere complaining about everything.
@WH15P3R3R No. Lorenzo and the Fertittas have known mafia connections. Their father was investigated by the FBI for running a mobster operation because a wire tap caught him admitting to it. Plus the Fertittas' casino wasn't licensed until the father left. Las Vegas residents were well aware of the mafia connections that the Ferttitas have
Funny all the comments on “Mob business “ . Try run a multimillion company with thousands of employees and add to the stress the fact that if you do not respond to the Mob they would send you to sleep. It’s insane .
Crazy to see now what this family has evolved with and the sale with the UFC. 1990's money was easy to make. Tell people what they want to hear and convince that there is nobody else. Regardless if you can do it or not, doesn't mater, there legit isn't anybody else lol. Keep the connections close, they're your life lines.
Who gives af if his pops had mob ties. Lorenzo and Frank have been nothing but class. They know how to treat people and no one that deals with them from bell hops to fighters has a bad word to say. Sorry to hear that your dad's a loser LOL. You could have a million dollars and you would still not be able to build a UFC-like empire with that mindset
Best interviewer ever, talk 10% listen 90% 👌🏽. Keep it up Graham
"not a traditional family business" ..you got that right
"It was really a family business" Yeah, we know Lorenzo
No other way he could afford it at that age lol

Dumb ass, just like Tillman Fertitta, they are organized crime bosses who were groomed and handed it all.
