Good job on the battery isolator. My rotors were pretty tough to get off when I did mine. Had to get a bfh and "persuade" them. Also my Jeep wouldnt give me a code as to which sensor was bad so I just did them all.
I had the same problem but I took my Jeep to a local Firestone dealership. They off a curtesy code scan. Unlike Autozone or Advanced Auto, Firestone's scanner will pull history codes. Drivers front was defective. Bought 1 sensor and swapped it out and problem went away.
My driver's side wheel speed sensor on my 2014 JKU just started randomly lighting up and throwing a code. Guess I better change it. thanks for the video.

I think this is my problem. One question: how do you know which side it’s on? Is it only “front” and “back”? Or is there a “front driver side” and a “front passenger side”? Thanks!
Raychel Ortiz if you go to autozone, and get them to read the OBD2 reader, it’ll give you a code most likely. From there it’ll tell you exactly which sensor is bad. But there is one sensor per wheel. I figured out by feel, and sort of a lucky guess. But getting the code (should be like U104b or something) and googling it, will help.

Carmen Gonzalez just replace the rear sensors. cheap fix. also good preventative maintenance. then from there if you still have problems, then it’s a bigger issue. i would just replace the rear if the lift remains after replacing the front ones.
I just did my front, broke it when doing ball joints. Anyway I didn't even reset the computer, lights went off after about 2 foot forward driving. I had previously had similar issues as you, intermittent lights and the jeep would actually hit the brakes while taking off. Turned out the twisted pair of wires to my left rear sensor was over twisted from the factory where the harness splits to each side above the rear axle. I unwound about an inch, stripped, soldered and used marine grade heat shrink tube to seal it. No problems now for well over a year. '09 Unlimited Rubi. Hope this helps.

Raychel Ortiz not a big issue. You just won’t have functioning ABS, traction control, or cruise control. It’s not a safety issue or anything. I drove around with the lights on for a while until I fixed it.
This was a great video! Question? Would Channing the rear speed sensor be the same? Do you have a video changing out the rear speed sensor? I need to change mine, but refuse to pay 900.00 if its an easy fix.
I don’t have a video over it, i didn’t change my rear ones. But it is pretty much the same, however i don’t think you need to take off the rotor, i think you can access it from behind. Google it, there are write ups on how to do it on the forums.
My abs, brake and traction control came on today out of nowhere, i'm reading it's usually due to a failed speed sensor, I plan to check it out asap, After the light came I drove the vehicle for an addition hour seemed to be fine, except lights staying on, what are your thoughts? also wondering if it's safe to drive until I have it checked
Mine have been coming on about once a day for 2 months now, usually I shut off the engine and start it back up and the lights go away. As of yesterday turning off and on doesn’t help anymore. It’s on more now. But the feel or the way my liberty drives doesn’t change at all. Plan on driving to Colorado this weekend to see my daughter. Is driving with these lights on or a bad sensor going to hurt my car at all or put me in any danger on my drive to Colorado?
no danger. Just might disable ABS and traction control. If you don’t feel comfortable without ABS and electronic stability, then get a mechanic or autozone to run a diagnostic off the OBD2 sensor. You should get a code that corresponds to the faulty sensor.
I have had to replace two wheel sensors on my '16 Wean with less than 37,000 miles on it. I have never replaced a speed sensor in any other vehicle, ever. I have made a complaint to the NTSB and the process is quick to do so. If enough of us complain about the speed sensor problem, Jeep will be forced to recall them and fix the problem.
I have a question maybe you can help. I changed out the clock spring due to some issue but I still have my abs light on sway traction light, battery light on . I replaced the battery the fan comes on with the switch being off. What do you think
Ernest Sanchez sounds like an electrical nightmare going on. Check the wiring for the fan issue, check for damage on the harness. And the abs + traction is most likely a wheel speed sensor issue. Go to autozone and have them plug up an OBD2 sensor plug up to your jeep and see if it throws any codes.
erwin cuevas yes, and i have video going over how to diagnose the light. But whenever my lights would turn on, my drivers side wheel would lock up. So that’s how i knew.
Chris Meacham okay i went over to your other video. I did turn the key three times. However I got the code P-2110. Which says electric throttle control. I did my research but I guess that code comes up with the check engine light. The only light I have that comes up, is the ESP/BAS on my dash board.
What was your sensor issue? My 2018 JK has the ABS and traction control lights on all the time. I am not throwing any codes, so I am assuming its the wheel speed sensor.
Great video bud! Very thorough explaing part names and socket sizes. Made me laugh when you said l, "once you crack it loose it should just be hand tight." Lol but very great vid, keep Jeepin
CowboyRome you can either cycle the key three times and it’ll give you the code. Or just feel it out when your abs randomly kicks in. For me it would randomly apply the drivers side front brake.
Chris Meacham I have a 2006 commander and dont feel a difference in the drive but when I put it in 4low the rear left sounds like it wants to snap of when I turn. But I can still drive it fine. It doesn't show any codes but my ABS light plus esp and traction light stays on while the computer shows service 4wheel drive system! What do you think? BTW.... I wish I had abs.......
*Jeep Wrangler 2010* Lately, the *ESC (electronic stability control)* light comes on intermittently after starting the engine and driving for the first few minutes then they go out for good. Today, I turned the *ESC* switch off manually. Then the *ESP/BAS, ABS* lights came on, in addition to the *ESC* light. I pulled over and turned the engine off. Restarted it a few minutes later, drove for a couple of seconds, all the lights went out. However, the *ESC* light came on, intermittently again and went out after a while. Is this an indication of of a bad speed sensor(s)? Any idea as to what else could be causing it? Thanks.
@@developmentdivision122 Thanks for replying boss. I was not looking forward to mess with them speed sensors. Now, it looks like I will have to watch your video a few more times and try to "convince" myself I am up to the task. I appreciate your time.
savagecomanche no, the sensor has been a problem since before the wheel hub was ever a problem. I’ve had a bad sensor for almost a year until i fixed it, i just kept putting it off.
I hope you took that retaining washer you had on the hub and threw that thing away and NEVER put them back on, especially if you are using wheel spacers. The spacers need to sit flush against your hubs.. Those things are just junk they put on at the factory. Most people just toss them as soon as they buy new wheels or tires. Also a good idea to use a torque wrench to bolt them (wheels and spacers) on to the correct torque spec.
Use the “live data” option on a scan tool. You can access the ABS data, where it will list the FR, FL, RR, RL speed sensors and their respective data outputs. The problem sensors will show an “error” or an imposible value. Roll the car forwards and back while monitoring the wheel sensor data.
My traction control light is on a jeep is running sluggish. Reading that it could be these sensors, or camshaft sensor OR and module OR pcm. Lol. Gonna start with these and the camshaft sensor.
I live in upstate NY we have a lot of corossion in those wheels from hard snowy winters. doesnt look anything like your wheels when taken apart. OMG well i will have to have it diagnosed and hopefully its back or front sensors and not all 4. looks like back ones are easier front look a little more involved. of course i am worried, just hope the automotive place doesnt take me for a ride when i get there and tell me i need all of them. too bad some of these places like to do that to women.
How did you ever get those spacers to lay flat with the factory rotor washers on? Your supposed to remove them .The factory only puts them on so the rotors don`t fall off on the line other than that they have no purpose
I see some "how-to's" for replacement of the sensor and they talk about having a torque wrench and setting the torque for those bolts that hold the caliper/brake assembly on. I see you didn't mention anything about it. Do you see the value in going that detailed or just making sure that it's damn tight and move on? ;)
all my lights are on and im pretty sure this is the problem...... can you or anyone out there tell how to determine which sensor is out? will a code tell me? LF,LR,RL etc thanks
I haven’t done this yet but I did the rear ones n the plugs broke. So if it’s the same plug you can use the similar plugs from a chargers light plug with an easier locking tab. Both mine in rear have been “upgraded”

How do you tell which speed sensor is bad? If you have a bad one.
Did this turn off your ESP/BAS light in your dashboard? I am having the same issue. How did you know it was your driver side sensor?
erwin cuevas yes, and i have video going over how to diagnose the light.
The Downfall of Society yup. Sensor was bad and was causing all these problems
Great video
Omg this is a life saver??
Great video bud! Very thorough explaing part names and socket sizes. Made me laugh when you said l, "once you crack it loose it should just be hand tight." Lol but very great vid, keep Jeepin
So how did you know which sensor it was? Front L/R or Rear L/R?
CowboyRome you can either cycle the key three times and it’ll give you the code. Or just feel it out when your abs randomly kicks in. For me it would randomly apply the drivers side front brake.
Chris Meacham I have a 2006 commander and dont feel a difference in the drive but when I put it in 4low the rear left sounds like it wants to snap of when I turn. But I can still drive it fine. It doesn't show any codes but my ABS light plus esp and traction light stays on while the computer shows service 4wheel drive system! What do you think?
BTW.... I wish I had abs.......
CowboyRome not quite sure. I would search the jeep forums. There is a lot of good quality information there. I don’t know too much about commanders
Should be simple to tackle then this weekend. appreciate the vid..
Goodluck! You got this.
Chris- do you know if codes U1417 or U1418 are specifically for the front sensors?
nevermind
I really enjoyed this vedio, this will help me a lot. Thanks
*Jeep Wrangler 2010*
Lately, the *ESC (electronic stability control)* light comes on intermittently after starting the engine and driving for the first few minutes then they go out for good.
Thanks.
xtr3m3 probably the speed sensor

Thanks for replying boss.
I was not looking forward to mess with them speed sensors. Now, it looks like I will have to watch your video a few more times and try to "convince" myself I am up to the task.
I appreciate your time.
Were your wheel hubs after market?
jeeps , call of duty & stuff just one side that i replaced. It’s not upgraded or anything, just not the exact Mopar wheel hub/bearing/thingy lol
Does that have any ting to do wit break light bein on
Bany Bany mmm nah
did you break it when you did the wheel hub?
savagecomanche no, the sensor has been a problem since before the wheel hub was ever a problem. I’ve had a bad sensor for almost a year until i fixed it, i just kept putting it off.
Nice dude, I haven't had to do this before. Good to know for when I do. Thanks! =)
Vinny Gullotta no problem! i hope everything is well with you. Have an awesome day
I hope you took that retaining washer you had on the hub and threw that thing away and NEVER put them back on, especially if you are using wheel spacers. The spacers need to sit flush against your hubs.. Those things are just junk they put on at the factory. Most people just toss them as soon as they buy new wheels or tires. Also a good idea to use a torque wrench to bolt them (wheels and spacers) on to the correct torque spec.
Very good video, very helpful. Thx
How did you know which one it was
Use the “live data” option on a scan tool. You can access the ABS data, where it will list the FR, FL, RR, RL speed sensors and their respective data outputs. The problem sensors will show an “error” or an imposible value. Roll the car forwards and back while monitoring the wheel sensor data.
I replaced my front wheel sensor and solved the problem but the lights came on again after 4 days . Any suggestions?
It could be any of the 3 other wheel speed sensors on your jeep.
My traction control light is on a jeep is running sluggish. Reading that it could be these sensors, or camshaft sensor OR and module OR pcm. Lol. Gonna start with these and the camshaft sensor.
Thanks for the video!!
Do you see the value in going that detailed or just making sure that it's damn tight and move on? ;)
Blue medium strength threadlocker and tighten to manufacture torque spec. 100ft/lbs for front. 77ft/lbs for rear
all my lights are on and im pretty sure this is the problem...... can you or anyone out there tell how to determine which sensor is out? will a code tell me? LF,LR,RL etc thanks
I have a video on my channel “how to diagnose abs light” and i go over how to figure out which wheel it is
Great job man! Thanks!
The harness plug is such a pain! I've replaced mine tons of times
The Bearded Jeeper eventually im just gonna take out the ABS and ESP system
I haven’t done this yet but I did the rear ones n the plugs broke. So if it’s the same plug you can use the similar plugs from a chargers light plug with an easier locking tab. Both mine in rear have been “upgraded”
