I am using the 3.0 version of the thiccly pole for my albo monstera like Melissa did. No moss, just so the stem can go up the centre and the flaps hold it firm. I want a minimal clear look for support and this ticked the box. Thought it was a fantastic idea! Thank you 😊
I’ve seen people just use the plant Velcro wrapped around the outside like normal, but each area within the tabs is a place for vines/roots to grow through.. and then you’d be able to slide the tabs out when you need to remove it from the pole in the future!
i got these poles and i pushed the clips in hole through the front of the flap and it was much easier and faster than going through the back and out the front!
I think these poles are better! You put all of the plant inside, then fasten the strips. If you ever want to remove the plant or pop one on that is already well rooted, you don't damage any roots forcing them through tiny holes 😊 I make diy ones people nickname them 'lazy moss poles'
I've seen another video where they mentioned just do the top mid and bottom flap (to get the basic shape) and then do the usual stuff, add moss, plant, and fasten the rest. idk the rationale, but from the looks of it, it should make removing from pole easier, maybe?
The new pole seems best for plants that are already rooted in moss! Saves you from having to remove the moss or break roots by shoving them in the ones that close in the back. I think the flaps are meant to be like straps to latch around the stems. The way it makes a little t shape makes me think that’s where a node would go.
With that _P. camposportoanum_ at the end, maybe it’s just one long vine, or stunted in some way, because it wants a SLIGHTLY bigger pot. Not much bigger…And I know, moss poles sort of negate the need for a pot, over time. But just in my experience, my best & biggest climbing aroids, while they have been mounted on poles or planks (or even PVC pipes with no moss), they also were given ample rootball space in the pot. Idk, I’ve never really considered a pole, or any support structure, to be an extension of the pot, even though it is, I know. Still, that looks like a very small pot for such an impressively long vine! It might actually help if you increased the pot size by a few inches. Or chop in half and start the process over. A lot of times, taking cuttings or beheading long vines can freshen and reinvigorate the plants, and not just aroids, either. Succulent vines too. Wherever you cut, the plant obviously makes new shoots, so that can help a leggy plant get compact again.
Just chopped my and extended my marble queen+jade pothos vines onto a new pole. Sorry you were stressed with that Thiccly. On the bright side, it made my project seem so smooth and easy. 😎 I do see that pole could have advantages in certain situations. If I ever change my Raphi pole that I keep printing new sections for, that pole would be awesome.
Thank you! Happy I could share my thoughts on them! I probably should have asked them how to use it first before I filmed this haha. I think they use less plastic but I still prefer the older version. I feel like having to clip each flap over the vine will be too much extra work as it grows.
I think they we’re trying to make it so the back doesn’t dry out as fast. I just ordered a newer moss pole for me off Amazon & I’m hoping I like them 😅 You definitely have more patience than I do 🤪
Melissa, do you still use the self-watering globes to keep your moss poles moist?? I saw that you recently posted about your new mix for plants with moss poles to avoid overwatering and root rot so I was wondering if you are using the same watering methods for the moss?
I think sols soil has definitely scarred me haha I’m afraid of rot now. I still use my globes it’s my favorite way to water them! I use a water bottle for the thiccly poles ☺️
@@plantsbymelissa I completely understand, I saw that video of your aurea! Hope it's doing better and thank you for your response and wonderful videos!
Just to fill in the space as if the pole wasn't there. You don't want moss in the soil part or it can retain too much moisture so you fill the bottom part of the pole with soil up to the pot level :)
Hi Melissa, I was wondering where do you find those watering bottle things that you put at the top of your moss poles? Also wanted to say I love your videos and your plants are gorgeous! Cindy
Thank you! They're watering globes! They are glass so they'll break if it falls 🙈 You can find them here: www.amazon.com/dp/B085VGXRK1?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzmeli0992-20&creativeASIN=B085VGXRK1&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.27D4Z5CKST4WL&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin
I had the exact same thought process as you when you tried to figure out the concept of the 3.0 pole haha, it didn't make sense for me too and seemed like wayy to much work 😅 I guess it's great for single vines but I think I like the 2.0 concept better
I don't know if I could do all that with a moss pole. I like for mine to just hang though so I haven't ever tried a moss pole. I do have a monstera deliciosa that is sitting on my desk and growing like crazy and I know it will need something one day.
I would never put a valued plant vine inside a plastic moss pole after having a midsection of vine rot that was barely touching a diy moss pole made with coated wire.
I don't think this type of pole is practical. Hard to assemble and will sure become undone over few months and separating it will be difficult if the plant tangled. Thank you for showing us how hard this type is 👍
your camposportoanum is probably the only large one I’ve seen on RUclips. I think a lot of people hauled them a year or two ago, but gave up on them because they’re a little bit tricky. Nice going with yours. 💚🪴🤗🪴💚
Thank you! My leaves tend to get stuck a lot so I’m thinking they prefer higher humidity/water even in my space. I like the bushy look so the longer stems and petioles aren’t my favorite with how it grew for me.

Yey!! another long video about pole plants!! love the new poles ;)
Thank you so much!! ☺️
I had no idea you put the plant inside with the 3.0 version. Glad I watched this video
Yes you’ve got it

Def seems very tedious, nevertheless.
Yes! Very tedious for sure!

I so needed this tutorial. 🤔 If anyone can get it right it's you. 😵💫🙃
It looks so lush and thick.
You could put the neon pothos outside for the summer. It might really like it.
I would except I tend to not care for them like I do for my inside plants 🥹
Thankyou😊
I'm thinking it's to help those who attach the plant and ariel roots to the pole first, then put in the moss, then attach the flaps.
Do you still like the 2.0s better? I’m getting ready to order some!

Melissa😊Thanks for the video. Your plants so pretty and beatiful. I'm delighted😊😊
Thank you so much! 🥰
I just used Velcro and it was quite fast. After the roots attach well i just remove them.
Not a fan of the new poles; design flaw…I’ll stick to the old faithful ones. Hope they both thrive on their poles. Thanks for sharing Melissa!
Thank you! Happy I could share my thoughts on them! I probably should have asked them how to use it first before I filmed this haha. I think they use less plastic but I still prefer the older version. I feel like having to clip each flap over the vine will be too much extra work as it grows.
Looking good😊
The vine is supposed to be inside the tube, at least that’s what I’ve seen done.
Makes Sense
I think they we’re trying to make it so the back doesn’t dry out as fast.
I just ordered a newer moss pole for me off Amazon & I’m hoping I like them 😅
You definitely have more patience than I do 🤪
Haha I’ll have to try it again and see how I feel about it still but I hope you like yours!! ☺️
The camosport…it’s kinda away from the light. Maybe that’s why it’s got such long spaces between the nodes
I had it under better lighting conditions and it still grew longer internodes 😁
You connect it the same way you connect any other pole - just add Velcro or tie and the nodes will connect themselves:)

The vine goes inside
Yes! Thiccly has a video now on their insta that shows how to do it correctly. I still like the older version better :)
I’ve seen other people out soil in the bottom, but why do you do it? I’ve often wondered
Just to fill in the space as if the pole wasn't there. You don't want moss in the soil part or it can retain too much moisture so you fill the bottom part of the pole with soil up to the pot level :)

I really like your potting mat, where can I find it? Thanks
I got it awhile ago! It's from www.theplantdrip.co

Put all the vines on at once.

Yes!! My brain wasn’t getting it 😂🫶🏻 I don’t like to mess with the pole once the plant is on there besides water it 😂

My favorite pole is the Roussau front poles. They are easier than this version.
I don't know if I could do all that with a moss pole. I like for mine to just hang though so I haven't ever tried a moss pole. I do have a monstera deliciosa that is sitting on my desk and growing like crazy and I know it will need something one day.
They’re a lot of work sometimes but you definitely want to have that desire to grow bigger leaves. Trailing plants are beautiful too and love them!
I would never put a valued plant vine inside a plastic moss pole after having a midsection of vine rot that was barely touching a diy moss pole made with coated wire.
I think neon pothos in moss poles get bigger but not that much as other pothos. Not sure, maybe. But ur neon is lovely
Thank you! I’ve seen a couple other people with larger leaves and they’re beautiful but mine hasn’t been the easier of growers for me 🙈
Yea, pretty poles but a little too stressful.
😁🙌🙏
I guess the 'T' in the front is for Thiccly :D
😂😂 didn’t even think about that!
Im so glad i watched this. I don't like those at all. I was getting ready to purchase more and i now know not to get those. Thank you for sharing
Yeah, not so easy to work with! I was really excited to use it but too much work for me. Their 2.0 pole is my favorite!
Hi Melissa, did you delete my comment? I went to edit it because I left something out (that I had a hard time too), and it was gone.
No, I did not :)
I dont think neon are as fast growing as other pothos. I know mine is a slow grow
3.0 will definitely take some getting used to. Looks like everything goes inside so no need for clips… can’t really find ANY effective videos
Yeah it’s not for me! I definitely prefer the other style!
Barely noticeable, the construction.
I don't think this type of pole is practical. Hard to assemble and will sure become undone over few months and separating it will be difficult if the plant tangled. Thank you for showing us how hard this type is 👍
I wouldn’t have the patience, I would be driving it across the room😂
😂😂😂
I love thiccly and happy to support them but definitely prefer the 2.0 pole. This type isn’t for me for sure!
I can't even find these poles using the link provided @plantsbymelissa
I like the design of the new pole, no clips or Velcro ties. Just take some getting use too. 💚🫶🏼
