2 days after my crash, I went to the hospital. Nothing is broken, just a very swollen left elbow, limiting my range of motion for my left arm. I was prescribed some strong anti-inflammatory drugs, which means I shouldn't ride, for my own safety. Therefore, I will not be riding for at least a week, which means there will be a delay in uploads.
A great 20/20 hindsight video, the traffic in your direction to your left looked like it was stopped to let someone make a left in front of you...always aware and anticipating, you might have remained upright ant thought to yourself "well I saw THAT coming" 🙂 Hope your recovery is swift!
(sorry for the late reply) Hindsight, thou art a perfect b!tch. LOL! It was tricky, because traffic had been at a standstill for at least 5 minutes, so I assumed the stopped traffic was just stopped and waiting, not because at just that moment they were letting someone through. But yeah, I'll be more careful of such situations in the future, and I have to practice braking using CBS. I applied way too much pressure on the front brake, which made it lock and sent my flying. In the end, I only have a bad elbow sprain, but the worst of it has passed. Another couple of weeks and I'll be at 100%.
Yay your okay =) but im sad that you crashed and felt hurt =( i watched in 0.25 speed and i still couldn't see why you crashed ? im guessing that you locked up both of your brakes rear and front and you went into a slide and then went down ? i was thinking if i was there i would have picked you up and i would have helped get your electric moped off its side and back on its 2 wheels. I personaly haven't noticed a difference with my electric koppla gator cruiser motorcycle when its cold and my electric koppla gator is charging. I have noticed that my koppla gator takes a slow drain when my battery is not used in 1 week. I have heard that electric batterys don't like the cold and its best to keep your electric battery in a warm garage if being stored. Good job on finding where the noise came from. Stay Safe & Ride Well
If it's cold but also charging, there won't be any drain, since it's charging. 😉 I've analyzed my accident, and I indeed locked the front wheel, causing it to turn suddenly, resulting in my fall. I'll be giving a detailed analysis of it all in my next video.
@@MontrealRides I know there would not be any drain when my koppla gator is charging even in the cold because the charging keeps my koppla gators battery from draining. How did you lock your front wheel and how did it turn suddenly ?
@@AutismDude32 The NQi GTS uses CBS (Combined Braking System), which links both the front and rear brakes to the left-hand lever, and it does so in correct proportions to maintain stability and control while braking. The right-hand lever controls only the front break. I didn't know this, but I've learned that I shouldn't be using both levers at the same time, since by also using the right-hand lever, I was suddenly applying more force on the front brake. This caused the front wheel to lock and the scooter's momentum simply forced it to turn and send me flying. Ultimately, even with the panicky situation of a car suddenly in front of me, falling off my scooter was all my fault. 🤔 It's a good learning experience, though! 👍 I'm going for another ride today to explain my crash, and talk about the different braking systems. I'm looking for an open lot I can safely practice on. This will be in Sunday's video.
@@MontrealRides I did not know that your nqi gts uses a combined braking system. What do you think of cbs ? can you notice that your cbs maintains stability and control while braking ? Why did you front wheel lock ? it did not look wet or slippery on the ground. How did the scooters momentum forceit to turn ? In what ways do you wish you would have done that situation differently. I agree it was a good learning experience i wish you wouldn't have crashed though its not your fault completley. Maybe there is a open lot close by to where you live that you can practice at. I look forward to your next video =)
(sorry for the late reply) Yeah, but hard-braking will almost always make you skid. Locking the wheel like I did was pretty bad. We gotta practice more on progressive braking and swerving to avoid crashes and prevent falling.
True, though the braking didn't occur on the manhole cover. Ultimately, I gave too much braking force to the front wheel, causing to lock and send me flying. I may be injured more than I thought, but I'll be back when I can.
I had read up to find out what is legal when it comes to electric bikes in Quebec and it said it can go over 500 W or over 32 km an hour yet yours is going up to 55
That's because the NQi GTS is not an e-bike, but a full fledged scooter/moped. 😊 It needs to be registered, needs a license, cannot go on bike paths since it's a road vehicle and not a bike. Top speed is 70 km/h, as defined for the Class 6D license. In French: cyclomoteur
Indeed. But, having CBS, I don't have independent control of the back brake. Right handle controls the front brake only. Left handle controls both the front and the back brakes together. The fall is my mistake, since I used both handles, which gave more braking power to the front, causing it to lock. I've now learned more about CBS braking, having done some research since my fall. This is a learning experience for me. 😃 I'm going to an empty lot today to practice braking.
@MontrealRides yes I have 7 ebikes and always consient about which vehicle I'm riding..I always hit the rear brakes a couple time to memorize..I don't have CBS thank God.. Salut, love your vids ottawa,Ontario içi.
No ABS or regen abs. By trying to go faster and not following cars that will kill you one day. Ride with the cars and do not try to sneak around . It is not a kick scooter . Remember safety first. Good luck with the rest. Since June I got 4300 km on my Teverun Fighter Supreme Ultra . Be careful please.
This street ended with a T-intersection. The center and left lanes were to turn left, but I needed to turn right, which is why I changed lanes. (Not trying to sneak around 😁) No ABS. Instead it's CBS Regen. I've analyzed the whole thing and I'll be giving you all a "detailed report" in my next video.
@@MontrealRides You had your flasher on when going to the right lane but no flasher on the corner telling the car driver that you are also going to the right. Its always instantaneous . Also look at the jeep next to you . He has his brakes on and you do not catch it since you think you are good and you see the turning car at the last minute . And you going right at 27 km1hr with no flasher. You need to look around as you ride. I do not want to see a video from the hospital please. Take care and enjoy the ride.
Flasher to change lanes: check. ✅ No flasher at first intersection = not turning at that intersection, but at the next T-intersection at the light farther down the road. I must pass the first intersection before I can indicate that I'm turning at the next one. Jeep (and other cars) next to me with brake lights on = they were all stopped, waiting for the left-turn green light at the farther T-intersection. They were also not blocking an intersection, which is why the turning white car was able to pass. He told me he should have creeped forward when crossing the empty right lane, and I told him it's one of those "can't see until the last minute" situations. So no one's really at fault. I fell because I locked my front wheel when braking too hard (I didn't use the CBS properly). But then, I could have hit the car with ABS (longer braking distance). It was a lose-lose situation. 😊. No promises to not record from a hospital in the future 😂, but I promise to be more careful. 🤞
What a joke. You have to ride your scooter just to drain the battery so you can charge it for a bigger ride but the cold is coming so you have to store it so the batteries don't magically drain themselves and wear out, yet the battery is charged with electricity from "fossil fuels". In quotes because the Earth makes "fossil fuels", and ole Rockefeller convinced everyone only dinosaurs made oil lol. My Honda Ruckus does 107mpg and I've never even had the 30 miles gas warning light come on. I don't worry about charging it to "save the planet", which is absolute nonsense. You're robbing Peter to pay Paul. the crash had you clocked at 18mph, and it's obvious the crash would have been avoided had you not speed demoned the bike in congested traffic. All that nonsense and fractured whatever for batteries that cost more in the long run energy and waste wise than gasoline/petrol. It's as if you earned the hospital bills.
We don't have hospital bills here in Canada, ya goof. Hospital bills are only a thing in your clown country. You are the laughing stock of the entire developed world.
(sorry for the late reply) LOL... Where do I begin? Let me just break down each sentence. I don't HAVE to drain the battery just to recharge it for a bigger ride. I was going to recharge them overnight, either way, for a big ride the next day. I simply decided to go for a short ride with the remainder of the charge the batteries had left. Where I live, electricity is generated from hydro-electric dams. No fossil fuels involved. Just water passing making a turbine spin, generating electricity. Canada has some of the cheapest electricity in the world, and the Province of Québec has the cheapest electricity in Canada. We export a lot of our electricity to neighbouring provinces and some north-eastern states. Fossil fuels don't come from dinosaurs. It predates dinosaurs by millions of years. Mainly, oil is from marine animals and plants. Coal is from terrestrial plants. Sure, we can say the "Earth makes fossil fuels", but not magically out of nothing. It takes millions of years for prehistoric plants and animals to become what we now know oil and coal, and only if the conditions allowed it. You're warning light hasn't come on because... you refill the tank before it's empty, right? Same for batteries. If you know you're gonna need a full tank tomorrow morning, you're gonna fill it up the evening before. And you may want to go for a ride before filling up the tank. The planet doesn't need saving. It will do fine without us. If 18mph on a 30mph street is speed-demoning, what's a brisk walk? Running? The cost of electricity here is a third the average American cost of electricity. A few thousand miles in a year will have cost me, at most, $200 for the whole year. Can you say the same for you gas-guzzler? And finally, the crux of it for me, I live in Canada. Like most developed countries, we don't have hospital bills. Universal Healthcare, you should try it one day. Why is there so much misinformed hate coming from apparently Jesus-loving residents of certain American states?
