Side observation most East Germans preferred to watch West Berlin TV in black and white rather than the alternative in colour. The East Germans deliberately used the SECAM system, mainly the French broadcasting standard while west Germany used PAL, the systems were not colour compatible. Technically I think the French system had some advantages over the PAL standard? (Clothing patterns phasing?)
