    thank you for your useful thoughts and tips. i still struggle with creating the "one capsule wardrobe" because i have so many items, which i really love but they don't fit with each other (colorwise). so my status quo is: i have a matching summer wardrobe and a matching winter wardrobe. :D

    • @wonderwardrobe
      @wonderwardrobe  3 года назад +6

      That’s super normal! That’s how everyone starts 😉 To create a capsule, every new purchase should be as versatile as possible. It might not fit to all your clothes but at least to most of them. And like that, by carefully selecting your new purchases you will get to a versatile capsule wardrobe.

    Really helpful information. Many years ago I had a colour consult which was a good starting point to determine which tones look best on me. Then (back before the internet -haha) I went to the library and found a great book about colour capsules for wardrobe. That made me see the possibilities and how to get maximum wear from basic pieces. Now that I am retired, I no longer have the need for a larger wardrobe (working clothes), but find I still enjoy putting together pieces that are harmonious. And of course learning to dress a more mature body takes another shift in learning.....Thank you for sharing your insights with others!

      Yes, I gained a bit of weight too and some older clothes don’t fit as well as before. It is frustrating at times but I am trying to stay positive and be ok with my new found curves 😊 we can’t possibly keep the same weight forever so small changes will appear all the time. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I’ll be happy to see you back in the classroom soon! We can discuss it further than.

    This is really cool. It changes how I see my current wardrobe. No wonder I struggle with what to wear, the problem isn't as much lack of coordination as genuinely not having enough clothes for the activities and weather that I see most often. One thing I feel people don't discuss often when planning capsule wardrobes is laundry interval. I think it should be one of the pillars. I don't mind re-wearing the same outfit however many times, I mind not having enough time to do laundry between wears. I would never wear tops for more than a day without washing. I do a load once or twice a week, either darks or lights at a time, then the time it takes to dry... The three month plan helped a lot with mapping that out, though.

    • @wonderwardrobe
      @wonderwardrobe  10 месяцев назад

      The laundry is not complicated if you have enough clothes. I usually have at least 10-12 tops per season. This way I only do laundry once a week.

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 года назад +1

      You're probably still experimenting with your look. It's hard to settle on a style when you're in that process! Some questions that might help are: What job do you have, or are you still in school? What items in your wardrobe make you feel uplifted, confident? How do other people respond to different clothes? Another thing; since you don't have complete outfits, it sounds like you are missing some basic items. I handle that situation by purchasing the most basic style of the missing item in the most basic neutral color that will go with many other things I already have. Like a white button-down dress shirt. A black blazer. Black dress pants. For women, also a basic black skirt and a basic little black dress. Think simple, no frills, because you need to fill in the empty spots in your wardrobe plan. Some people are so attracted to color that they don't buy any neutrals, and so nothing they own goes with anything else. Or their style choices are so erratic that none of their tops go with any of their bottom pieces. That's where simple, neutral basics come in.

      @@edennis8578 Thank you for the extra help! I have realised that i don't really follow trends and want stuff that i can wear over & over again but with a little bit of extra pizazz to it now and then so whatever that is, it's my style. I am seriously lacking in basics though. I will be scrutinising my wardrobe with the above considerations in mind & will get out of this 'nothing to wear' rut! Thanks again for your reply 😊

      I buy my clothes online. It took some trial to find online brands that fit me and have good quality, but now I can find almost anything I want, in the color I want, in my size. In years when something comes into style that's normally hard to find, I stock up. Colors are especially hard for me, so when I have the opportunity to get it, I buy it. If I don't, that color might not be available for 20 years. Not kidding. I've experienced that.

    My personal style is essentially built around statement pieces and my looks are based on silhouette so I am really not a candidate for a capsule wardrobe but I’m interested in the concept. I’m hoping it might give me a couple of tips to be a bit more ruthless with a bit of a declutter before I move house 😂

    • @wonderwardrobe
      @wonderwardrobe  3 года назад +2

      My capsule is also based around statements. I usually have around 1-3 basic items only. So it's not a problem at all. A capsule wardrobe doesn't mean you clothes or silhouettes should be boring it's just what most people do. You can watch any of my capsule videos and see how you can express any style and use any colours and still have a versatile capsule.
