I was punched in my car in Alberta. Eye was messed for two days. Bad for two weeks. Two months later I was healed. The person got probation (something at least).

Or unwilling to. The Calgary Police, rather than investigate, simply ask if you have insurance to pay for any damage of personal property. My son’s vehicle was broken into (steering column destroyed and interior trashed), we found beer cans in the vehicle and tracked down the liquor store that sold it (the beer was unique and cheap). When we told the police they said it was not important, even though there are security cameras in every liquor store. I do not trust the police to “serve and protect”, it’s just a slogan!
It’s honestly not the police’s fault. The justice system runs on fines and fines only. I worked in homeless shelters during the pandemic - where the same guy was charged with 50 crimes in one year…the truth is, cops don’t want to arrest the same guy, waste time with paperwork, and see him out on the streets before they even complete the paperwork.
Police do not enforce laws or fight crime they merely protect citizens policies when their feelings become hurt
It’s not completely our police’s fault but our justice system that runs on fines and fines only. I worked at a homeless shelter in Toronto where there was a person who was charged with over 50 crimes…the truth is, our police force is tired of arresting the same individual and seeing them released and out on the streets before they even complete their paperwork.

Not a theft... it becomes a robbery charge when the culprit flees whem you attempt repossess... so that jail time goes upto 14 years in jail.

@@brucemacneil I was partly joking, but was thinking of all the EVs that had to get towed because of snow rendering the chargers useless, and the way they lose power having to pre heat the battery in cold conditions.
