I’ve recently started watching disk golf, thanks to you, Brody, and foundation. I now watch all the tournaments and I want to start playing, I’ve never played. I want to purchase my first disks and Discraft is what I’d like to go with. In your opinions what disks do you recommend I start with from Discraft? And how many should I start with? Although I’ve never played I’d say I’m pretty athletic, I’ve played almost every sport growing up. If that makes any difference on what you’d choose if you were me. Also I’m 32, 6’1” lol just want an honest opinion from the pros sorry for my life story.
Where are you located? There's bound to be a local pro that sees this and would love to help you out. Check out Scott Stokely's vids on learning to throw. He's been teaching longer than almost anyone and has a ton of content out there. Pick up a putter that feels good in your hand and a Buzzz. Learn to control them first, before you even get a driver. Welcome to the family.
That's dope!! Honestly I'd recommend just starting with 1 or a few discs and then go from there. I'd recommend a Sol. Also slower stuff like a Roach or Fierce would be solid choices. Sol is good backhand and forehand
I'm going to add for the sake of trying to save you a lot of time, learn to throw nose down (I'm 5'10", started playing at 35, 2 years ago). If you can see any bit of the top of your disc as it flies, (especially as it fades out) you threw it nose-up. This was the BIGGEST thing that has helped me gain control and distance, and also the most challenging to learn. The tips that helped me the most (this may not be your secret sauce, but they worked for me) point your wrist down and supinate (palm up) more than you think you need to when throwing. I'll echo, check out Scott Stokely's tutorials. Also Ace It disc golf has some excellent content to learn to throw the backhand properly.
Im an amatuer but if you want to buy something from Discraft I would get a Buzzz, I really love my Z-Line Buzzz and I probably learned the most about how to throw better just from spending time learning how to throw a Buzzz properly.
Best choice that will lead to best power and form is to pick a putter and throw it exclusively for a few months.

Question for Ezra…before you tee off you do a motion with the disc vertical instead of horizontal. What are you working or focusing on? Keeping the nose of the disc flat when you throw? Fairly new to disc golf and am curious. If anyone in comments know I would love to hear it!

I have a question. As a beginner disc golf player I like to see what discs the pros throw, but oftentimes on the "In the bag" videos a pro will bag 4 of the same disc. Do you think that there should be a disc limit (similar to golf clubs) and what should that number be? I think an 18 disc limit would make for building the bag a more interesting part of the game as well as make the sport seem more accessible to beginners with a budget, which encompasses a large part of the growing community.

Hole 10 basket C2 run: More aggressive is making a pro run, a pro miss, and that's right of the chains. The one made was chains left, the 2 misses were low left. It's hard to block out the leave possibility, so it's hard to make an aggressive pro miss, almost requiring a soft anny forehand run, but Pro misses had a chance where as a more reluctant attempt (low or left) never has a chance, they were just a poor up shots. Never up, (Right) never in.

My question is, favorite state to play in? I live in West Virginia and I feel the disc golf experience is way different than somewhere like Kansas because WV has so many hills and not as windy, but Kansas is windy but flat.

Still don't understand why people love or hate a college (football or whatever). I went to Ohio State, don't have a feeling about it one way or another. It's a college. Then again, not a football fan.
The whole time I went there I didn't understand the Michigan rivalry. Someone said it went back to the battle for Toledo. A bloodless war that happened in the early 1800's! If that's the case, it's stupid.
I went to Notre Dame and hate BOTH of those teams. The hate comes with the first tuition bill as a Freshman. It's just the way it is.
